I wish I had read these reviews earlier. Went to see Dr. Proctor for a vasectomy pre-appt - he was quite pleasant and professional. The front desk was also nice enough, but then things got murky. When I initially called, they alluded to a possible appt in a few weeks. When I went to schedule after my appt, it was now a few months. Then, I wanted to get an idea of what they'd charge for a procedure, and then it was all smoke an mirrors. "Well, we don't really know until we charge your insurance." Um, ok, what if I didn't have insurance. Then it's a flat $1500. Ok, so I'll do it without the insurance...nope, can't do that. Ok, what about the appointment, again don't know until we bill your insurance. I don't know about you, but waiting to find out how much a car costs only after you roll it off the lot seems a bit suspicious. Maybe it's just me. read more

I am a 100% disabled veteran with 33 years of honorable military service and a Georgetown University graduate school alumnus. Since 2017, I have received outstanding care at the Washington, DC VA Medical Center. During my nearly two-year battle with prostate cancer, the VA provided exceptional treatment, and I am grateful to now be in remission. The physicians, nurses, and staff who cared for me demonstrated professionalism, compassion, and genuine concern, and I will always be thankful for them. Unfortunately, my recent experience with Dr. Jonah D. Murdock, Chief of Urology, was completely different. As Chief of Urology, Dr. Murdock is responsible not only for treating patients but also for setting the standard for professionalism, communication, compassion, and patient-centered care within the department. Veterans deserve to know that when they are in severe pain, the leader of the department will listen, treat them with respect, and ensure they receive appropriate specialty care. On June 19, 2026, I went to an urgent care center because I was experiencing severe urinary and pelvic pain. After an examination, I was diagnosed with a prostate infection, prescribed antibiotics, and strongly advised to follow up with my urologist if my symptoms did not improve. When the antibiotics failed, I contacted the VA Urology Department on June 23. The nurse who answered my call was outstanding. She listened carefully, showed genuine compassion, and explained that the earliest appointment was in September. Recognizing the urgency of my condition, she arranged for Dr. Murdock to call me. Although he returned the call, I felt rushed throughout the conversation. Each time I tried to explain that my pain was worsening and that the urgent care provider specifically recommended follow-up with my urologist, I felt I was interrupted before I could finish. Rather than discussing my symptoms in detail, I was told that my primary care physician could manage the issue. A different antibiotic was prescribed, and the call ended. Unfortunately, my condition continued to worsen. On July 2, I contacted the Urology Department again because I was experiencing excruciating pain. Once again, the nursing staff treated me with kindness and urgency. They informed Dr. Murdock, and I was told he would return my call. I did not receive that call until July 6. By then, because I had not received timely specialty care, I had sought treatment from another provider who was not a urologist. That provider prescribed another antibiotic but also advised that I still needed to be evaluated by a urologist. When I explained this to Dr. Murdock, I again felt I was interrupted before I could fully explain my situation. I also expressed that veterans deserve empathy, respect, and professional communication, especially when they are experiencing severe pain. The conversation ended without addressing my concerns or discussing a plan for further evaluation. This review is not meant to diminish the outstanding work of the many dedicated professionals at the Washington, DC VA Medical Center. In fact, the nurses and staff I spoke with during this experience were compassionate, respectful, and genuinely tried to help me. I am sharing my experience because I believe every veteran deserves to be heard, treated with dignity, and receive timely specialty care. My hope is that the leadership of the Urology Department reflects the same professionalism, compassion, responsiveness, and respect demonstrated every day by so many other VA healthcare professionals. read more

So when i initially was searching urologists i only saw reviews for their site yelp didnt pop up. My yelpers were right. Granted the staff and doctor are very friendly but that dont cut when you're dealing with healthcare. the first red flag should be no electronic records, i actually had to complete paper work manually. I had my visit she recommended stopping current meds urgent care prescribed and start new ones for 14 days. Returned for follow up, dr "said" things were fine. The next day more symptoms on saturday symptoms returned plus new one. And second flag there is no portal to view results yourself. Returned to urgent care, provider suspects issue wasnt resolved and it wasnt. I saw the results in portal. So now I feel worse than i did 3 weeks ago, and having to locate a new urologist to finally get these issues resolved. read more

Three stars because my husband with severe white coat syndrome feels like he was well cared for. Three months later and three different bills and two calls to the billing department to clear things up. First bill arrived via text just like a bunch of their automated appointment confirmations. No problem. Amount was what we expected. Cool. Paid. A month later, a second bill for the same service shows up in the mail for a different amount. Fine. Mistakes happen. I call the billing department on the paper bill with the pdf of the original bill on hand. Takes an hour on hold to get someone to talk to. They tell me they can see that I paid the first bill and to not pay this one and that they're flagging it for review as it's probably a mistake. They mail me an printout of the charges to his account with the invoice showing we paid. They again stress to not pay this new bill. Great. New bill arrived. Now I'm annoyed. Billing department is called again, this time they say please pay - one bill is for the facility (the doctor's office) and the other is for the provider. Makes sense, but should have been clear on the billing statements. Person on the phone seems annoyed that I wouldn't know that the two bills with the same line item for two different amounts were for two different parts of service. Long story short: billing department is not well organized and isn't transparent with exactly what they're billing for and separate bills for parts of the same procedure are send separately. I would give a zero star if I could Very unprofessional doctor that kicked me out of the building cause I was honest and informed him that I had covid 12 days ago and I'm cleared of infecting others. First they charged me 50 dollars then didn't even want me in the building even tho every one including myself is wearing a mask and showing them the release letter from dc health. The practice, Midatlantic Urology Associates, at 7500 Greenway Center is highly unprofessional. They see you about an hour late, so you might as well come an hour late. For my 2nd appt, my follow up, I purposely requested 8 am, so I could be the 1st one in & out. It's currently 8:30 and she isn't even here. Shows you about about her work ethic, professionalism, but also what the practice allows. The last time I was here, about 2 wks ago, I was ordered to get a CT scan, I have that appt later today. Did she tell me to get the scan 1st, then come back? Ofc not, so I have a feeling this appt will be a waste of time, since there will be no results from the scan to discuss. I have the other appt for the scan this afternoon and she had the nerve to tell me to make yet another appt to go over the results! I told her absolutely not! It's not my fault that she gives poor directions! I told her she can call me if there is something abnormal and if she doesn't I will report her ass to the medical board! Idc if she's leaving this unprofessional practice Dr Holder needs to do her job! When I questioned why she didn't give me precise directions about getting the scan 1st then coming back she replied "Well I meant that the follow up is to go over the scan," I told her "It doesn't matter what you 'meant,' what matters is what you communicated to the patient and you did not communicate." In addition she is not thorough, she got me panicked 2 weeks ago at the initial appointment & told me blood was in my urine. Did she bother to ask when my last menstrual was? Ofc not! I was getting off my cycle so ofc there was blood! Lastly, There is ABSOLUTELY NO PRIVACY! I heard all of the patient's next to me personal business bc of the paper thin walls. I'm not comfortable with the fact that other patients can hear all your business and your symptoms/diagnosis! Doesn't this lack of privacy fall under HIPAA? Anyhow I told her I heard everything, just like I knew she was leaving the practice in a few wks. How did I know this? Not bc she told me, but bc I heard her telling another patient in the room next to mine! I told her I was uncomfortable and did she bother to lower her voice? No, she was still loud so I guess patient care and patient privacy don't matter at this practice. I also mentioned to the medical assistant who puts you in the room, to assign patients in every other room, so we would not hear one another's business. But ala, my suggestion was ignored. Maybe she's a new physician, but her lack of knowledge as well as poor bedside manner is apparent. Do yourself a favor, if you take your heath seriously avoid this joke of a practice and whatever practice Dr Holder goes to--avoid them too. Stay away from her! She has to work on communication skills, respecting patients' time and not arriving 46 minutes late, as well as patients' PRIVACY! I would avoid this company, especially the Bala Cynwyd office at all costs. Very unprofessional and a filthy office. I uploaded the photos. I should have known I would get a severe fever for three days after a cystoscopy from Dr. Belkoff. Staff was uneducated and unprofessional. It is impossible to contact the company to find anyone who is really in charge. If you call the office, there is usually a long wait to speak to anyone. The staff is rude and no one seems to be in charge. The office is so poorly run that they "forgot" to put in a request for certification so I could get a test done. I called after a couple weeks and was told it had gone through. A month later, when I called to see why there was no record of it at the hospital, I was told that they had never put it through but it would just take 5 minutes to do it now. This doctor's office is the worse place every , I have nephrostomy tubes attached to my back and everytime it's close to getting them replaced for surgery the front desk receptionist give me a hard time they call at the last minute to say the doctor not there or you need another referral on the day of the appointment ............. One time I drove all the way out there to see the doctor and the had a bunch of patients rescheduling because the doctor did t show up that Thursday it was horrible, and the doctor name Dr. Murdock seems to never be there , I had a few medical emergencies that could lead to my death because I also battling cancer and these folks which is the front desk clerks didn't give me No type of help and didn't even care about my well being, I had to go to the hospital and stay for a whole week... just to wait for surgery, which the doctor could've done if he put the order in.... medical bills are high because of them, after my last surgery hopefully soon I will be changing to a new urologist because these people left me in a deep depression ...please whatever y'all do don't go to this doctor read more

The one time I had to stop in & give a urine sample & because I didn't have an appointment they wouldn't let me use there restroom, they told me to go home . Well home is 30 minutes away so I had to go to WaWa ( real sanitary right). Then I had a procedure done by Emily & was never told that there would be a charge on top of my office visit for this procedure. I get the bill & for that little procedure it's more than I paid for a cat scan. Well guess what I am canceling all future appointments because if you can't be honest with your customers & inform them up front at the appointment when they make it that there is gonna Be a charge on top of your copay I wouldn't have done it. I saw Dr. Roy Joseph for a vasectomy. He was very nice. He did the procedure quickly and I healed quickly. This is where my positive review ends. Dr. Roy Joseph told me to submit a sperm sample three months after the procedure to verify if it was successful. He did not provide any details. I assumed I would just set an appt with him and provide the sample. I scheduled an appointment to provide the sample. I arrived early for my 10:45am appointment on November 15... then waited over 90 mins to finally see Dr. Jospeh. He seemed embarrassed, whispered to an attendant, who handed me a cup, and told me to go to LabCorp to provide my sample for analysis. Ok. I asked where it is and what I needed to bring. Dr. Roy Joseph responded that I would be given every thing I need upon checkout. Ok.. I went to checkout. I was handed a piece of paper with the name LabCorp and address on it. That's it. I left with a sheet of paper with an address on it and a cup to deposit my sperm sample in. I called LabCorp and asked what I needed to give them. The receptionist asked if I had a cup and a piece of paper. Yes, I said. I described what was on the paper....just the name and address and phone number. She said, YES, that's what I need. Ok., Off to LabCorp I went with a cup of sperm. Upon arrival I was told that the DOCTOR DID NOT SUBMIT AN ORDER FOR THE ANALYSIS, and they would not accept it. Not ok. I called Mid Atlantic Urology..... YAY, a person there apologized and immediately faxed the order! So....I turned my car around, with my cup of jizz in a paper bag, and submitted it to the lab... Happy ending! I only had to wait seven days to call Dr. Roy Joseph to get my results! Simple right? No. I called seven days later and was told I had to make an appointment to get the results of my post vasectomy sample analysis. I told them absolutely not, I will not waste more time and another $40 copay for incompetence. I was then told the results weren't back anyway. Ok. I called back on week two, leaving a message with no response. I called again, week THREE, FOUR, FIVE, AND SIX..... requesting my lab results. NO RESPONSE. NONE. So, here I am resorting to YELP to leave a stinking thumbs down review of both MID ATLANTIC UROLOGY ASSOCIATES LLC AND DR. ROY JOSEPH. You are a pathetic disgrace! UPDATE: I changed from one star to two. Incredible timing. One day after posting this review Dr Joseph called me back! He told me my test results that I'd been asking for for so many weeks. Good news! He then asked if I'd please delete my review. "No," I said "but I'll amend it to let everyone know you finally returned my call. I went to Mid Atlantic Urology and was assigned to Dr. Mufarrij. He prescribe two prescriptions that required prior authorizations from my insurance provider. So far Dr. Mufarrij has not responded so I cannot get my medicine because he does not set aside time for doctor's hours to address the issue of prior authorizations. This has been the worst experience I have had with a health care provider. I would avoid this practice because they don't respond to their customers and your health is at stake! read more

Midlantic Urology has to be the worst medical practice I have dealt with in the last 50 years. The doctors are probably OK but the administration can't seem to make proper appointments for the right procedures in the right place, have often not answered their phones and do not keep promises to call back to schedule appointments for procedures that need to be done by the surgical department (even if for tests that are invasive). It seems like the "big medical business" model that they have adopted by buying up all the Urology practices in the area, has resulted in an anti competitive reduction in quality of service because patients no longer have any choice. Dr. Anton Kapp had diagnosed me with As he puts it low grade prostate cancer revealed from a Biopsy he suggested to see a radiologist which I talked to one and said need Gold Markers for Radiation put in by Kapp . Been Trying for 2 weeks straight to get hold of him still No Call Backs at ALL. Also My Biopsy was Postponed for an Extra 6 Weeks prior to the one I finally received. There are a lot of physicians at this practice. But the service has been poor. Dr. Kumar does not seem to be attentive and is not available to discuss anything with his patients. We have been waiting for almost a week to speak to him. We relayed our concerns to the nurse to no avail. Make sure you ask lots of questions because they do not offer information. I understand that they have many patients but as a healthcare professional myself, I know how important it is to make sure that your patient understands the diagnosis, treatment and follow up plan. To not be able to speak to your doctor in a timely manner is completely unacceptable. Dr. Kumar seems like he just doesn't care! This is not Burger King! This is human life!!! I'm so disgusted. Do not event attempt to make an appointment with this organization. I had referral from my primary care physician, and I spent 20 minutes with receptionist, Ms. Carrie, trying to schedule my appointment. Ms.Carrie did have any sort of customer service training, and seemed confused with imputing my information into her scheduling process. I had to repeat my name several times, insurance information, date of birth, spell out each letter on street address, often with her stopping me in mid sentence as she made a mistake had me start over. she eventually said her system was down and to call back in an hour, and I asked her to clarify an hour? She then said "two hours". I asked to speak with her supervisor (assuming she was a temporary or new employee) and she told me she was the supervisor, and then hung up on me. I am a retired Army Colonel, with Tri-Care Prime as insurance, and not really used to medical administrative personnel being unhelpful or incompetent, but I will place Mid-Atlantic Urology LLC staff in that category. If the Doctor hires a sub-standard staff, I do not have confidence the actual medical treatment will be to standard. Schedule at your own risk. read more

Doctor Werner is always late - 2 hours late. Every time. The staff are rude on the phone. They call, schedule/reschedule appointments with only leaving a message and not speaking with the patient. We have been to 3 of his offices. If you are able to get a referral to somewhere else, it's hopefully a better experience than what we had. The only reason I gave the 1 start that I did is because I had wonderful doctor (Dock Winston). He was very attentive and responsive. The office staff on the other hand makes this practice seem unprofessional and disorganized. They constantly screwed up my appts. I would leave messages for the office manager (Danielle) to call me back and she never did. The call center representatives are cordial but the front desk staff are rude. When ever they make a mistake the never apologize the just make excuses. I have had enough of this terrible treatment. As much as I trust Dr. Winston, I cannot deal with the incompetence of his administrative staff. I have decided to return to Georgetown University Hospital's Department of Urology. I would rather deal with DC traffic and parking issues than to continue to deal with Mid Atlantic Urology's unprofessional staff. read more

I went to Mid Atlantic Urology Associates LLC about mid-June. I came back from the ER regarding a kidney stone and the attending doctor told me to see a urologist. They referred me to Dr. Roy Joseph and I made my appointment a couple days later after my trip to the ER. The receptionist staff were nice and I waited about 15 minutes to be seen. When he finally went to the room to see me, he was on his phone typing an email or text. He asked me to describe what happened and while I was giving my history of my trip to the ER and past experiences with kidney stones, he was still typing on his phone. He definitely was not listening cause after it was silent for a good 5-7 seconds after I gave my history, he just looked up and said "let's get an x-ray done to see where the stone is. Ok? Once I get the results, I'll call you tomorrow, you dont have to come back. Have a nice day" and then just walked to another room with another patient. Completely unprofessional and by that time I was annoyed. I went ahead and got the X-ray completed and called back the next day. Was told he was with another patient and would call me back. Nothing. Tried again a couple of days later. Nothing. It's been now a month and still nothing. Even when I had to get my referral to get the x-ray done, the staff said that I had to go get Dr. Joseph to sign the paper. I was confused because 1.) that is their job 2.) I can't go barging in a room while he was seeing another patient. This annoyed me even more. The only thing I can say is that do not go to this office. It's terrible. Dr. Joseph did not provide the care/service promised and I have no idea on the status of my kidney stone. I will never come back here again for ANY type of service. I'll happily drive an hour away to see a much more competent urologist than him. If I could get 0 stars, I would, I hope Yelp starts allowing this. read more

I saw dr. Kumar for a infection. He asked me a few questions and did a simple procedure and prescribed me medication that I had already been taking. So he gave me a different anti-biotic. I was describing my symptoms and he just threw medication at my symptoms without telling me what I had. 7 days later my symptoms came back and my wife and I tried to reach him to ask him what is going on with my health . Dr. Kumar refused to speak with my wife and after leaving 3 messages he finally called me back and told me to keep taking ibu profen, I was taking that for 4 weeks and any longer can cause damage to your stomach. My wife kept trying to reach dr. Lumbar and he still refused to talk to her, being that she is a nurse. I would encourage others to use another urology practice. I was recently diagnosed with kidney stones and was encouraged by my general practitioner to go to a urologist. I recently moved to the community where I now live, so I had no knowledge of urologists in the area. I chose Mid-Atlantic Urology and Dr. Murdoch because he is covered by my insurance. I scheduled my initial appointment. I arrived at the office and waited more than an hour before I was called back to an exam room. My appointment was an afternoon appointment, so I thought maybe they had just gotten behind in seeing patients. I was finally called back to an exam room where I waited nearly another hour. When I finally saw the doctor, he explained he was dealing with a discrepancy on his credit card and that is the reason he was late seeing me. After the appointment, I went for an x-ray as Dr. Murdoch recommended. Once the x-ray was taken, I scheduled my follow-up appointment with Dr. Murdoch to review the x-ray. This time, I made the appointment for first thing in the morning, so as to avoid the wait. That did not make any difference. I, once again, waited for over an hour in the waiting room. I eventually went to the staff person as the registration desk and asked if there was an estimate as to when I would see the doctor since I needed to return to work and had already waited over an hour. The office staff person with whom I spoke, would not even make eye contact with me. She simply said, "You will just need to wait until your name is called. The doctors are very busy." At that point, I explained I was leaving and asked for the appointment to be deleted. She responded with, "Done." No apologize, no goodbye. Since that time, I have seen another urologist...Dr. Kasey Morrison with Adventist Medical Group. I will never go back to Mid-Atlantic Urology. Dr. Kasey's office is very friendly and extremely professional. I only waited fifteen minutes to be seen by him, and he took his time talking with me through my option. The difference between Dr. Morrison and Dr. Murdoch was the difference between night and day. The difference between the friendliness and professionalism of the office staff could not be more evident as well. Do yourself a favor, and choose another urologist. read more

Dr. Myron Murdock has been my urologist for some 15 years. For both kidney stones and bladder cancer. I cannot give enough praise for his dedication and professionalism in analyzing and treating my medical conditions. I have observed other Doctors seeking his professional opinion on different medical conditions. I have never had a problem at either the main office or surgical center. No sooner than I arrive back home, I can go on line and get the results of any tests and consultation notes. I would highly recommend MAUA as a place to be treated by a Urologist. read more

I never write reviews, but feel it is my duty to warn people from visiting this horribly mismanaged office and to spare them the aggravation and frustration I suffered. I will try to give an honest report of my appointment and dealings with this office so you can see how at every step along the way they managed to mess things up. My appointment was for 3:00 and I showed up at 2:45. I did not fill out any paperwork until 3:30 and then didn't get taken to a room until 4:15. It was slightly after 4:30 by the time I actually saw the doctor. While I was being taken back to the room, I was asked for a urine sample even though a urine sample would serve absolutely no diagnostic purpose for the concern that brought me there. I politely raised this objection with the nurse and declined to provide a urine sample when she informed me that "everyone gives a urine sample." Realizing arguing was pointless, I simply said, "well I don't have to go right now." Needless to say, I left without ever giving a sample and the doctor himself never actually requested one. Once I saw the doctor, my appointment went reasonably well. He was polite, asked questions, and listened attentively. I have no complaints about the doctor himself. He requested I get a blood test. While performing the blood test, the nurse forgot to put on her gloves and only put them on midway through after already having touched the gauze and other materials. I was naturally quite alarmed at this, but I'm much too non-confrontational to have said anything. Still, it was pretty shocking to see her forget to put her gloves on, I was told I needed an additional test that couldn't be performed by the in-house laboratory yet no one could seem to figure out where I could go take the test. Finally I was told that by Nurse A that I needed to go all the way to Annapolis to get the test. I asked if I needed to bring anything and she said no. I was very lucky that Nurse B overheard this conversation and interjected that everything Nurse A had been telling me was wrong. Nurse B told me that there was actually a place nearby that would do the test (ironically, the place in Annapolis wouldn't even do it) and that I actually needed to bring a printed order with me. Had Nurse B not come to my rescue, I would have been going all the way to Annapolis to try to get a test I wouldn't have even been able to get. After the ordeal of visiting the office was over, I was quite eager to get my blood test results and contacted the office on Tuesday (my appointment had been on Friday and I was told they should be ready by the next business day, but having witnessed how terribly chaotic and disorganized the office was, I thought it wise to give them an extra day). Shocker of shocker, they said I couldn't get my blood test results unless I made an appointment or retrieved them on the portal (of whose existence I'd never been informed). Getting the link to actually sign up for this portal took a mere 4 phone calls. I was told multiple times that once I signed up for the portal, I would then be able to see my lab test results. Not surprisingly, this wasn't true. I was told my lab test results wouldn't be there until the doctor had reviewed them and there was no telling when the doctor would have time to review them. To this date, the doctor has still not reviewed them and I do not have my lab test results. I urge you not to go here if you want to receive quality medical care. You'll endure hours long waits, receive misinformation at every turn, and have a thoroughly miserable experience. read more

There is an old saying three-strikes-and-you're-out and this place definitely use all three of its strikes with me my first two appointments were with Dr. AJAWHAT I'm sure I'm spelling it wrong but he's only one with a turban on his head up in that place this doctor seems more interested in what's going on in his laptop then what's going on in front of him meaning me the patient very robotic not a very good bedside manner at all, my third attempt was with Dr. Murdock I guess the younger one of the two there ,where this goes south I arrived @ my appointment at 1:20 walked out of my appointment at 2:20 whole hour without seeing the doctor need to say I will not continue to waste my time with this practice anymore it seems like it's just a machine that can give a crap about their patients and I have decided to take my business elsewhere, and for the assistant who defended Dr. Murdock just let me tell you this if you're running an hour behind and it's still two more patients in front of me you're over book that's what the definition of overbook means you idiot! read more

my first doctor there was nice, but did not clearly explain what was going on. i went to dr emmanuel who was very clear about the medical stuff, but dr emmanuel asked me if i thought poorly about the first doctor i'd seen. unprofessional. I went to three offices. greenbelt was ok, the two satellites were falling apart. read more

Agree with other posters. Avoid this office, especially Dr. Werner. Unreasonably long wait time. More than 2 hours. Then, during our meeting, he acted as if he was put-out and annoyed. I resent having to pay him for his cold, rude, insensitive attitude. Never, never, never going back to this office. read more
