Absolutely horrendous customer service. I could see there was another shop. When I asked the older lady working how to get in her reply was "No- I am with a customer". I truly can't believe that in a tourist town they make it so difficult to shop. We have shopped all over Prescott for several days from gift shops, boutiques and vintage/antique shops. Absolutely everyone has been so fun and kind until Mid Century Madness. Won't be going there Ever again- ewwww. Not enough time in my precious day to deal with icky people. This place has amazing items. It's packed with vintage and it took me back so far to remembering funky things my mom and grandma had in our home. Especially those Buddha drink cups from Trader Vic's. This store is unusual because you think it is antiques but is really mid century modern and all furniture and accessories. Great if that is your search. One salesperson for 2 stores. I LOVE this place! So cool! I have now been there twice and both times bought some super, one of a kind items. First time were cool orange vintage candle stick holders and this time aluminum travel cake plate. Amazing! This is my new favorite. Went exploring downtown Prescott this past weekend and what a find I found! Avalon Antiques is one of two stores next to each other at north end of Cortez St. The other one is Mid Century Madness. I'll dupe the review under the other business. The place has so much history - tin ceilings, original hardwood floors, even the front façade is real cool. Marilyn assisted me as I walked thru. There is something for everyone here. I'm such an advocate of supporting self-owned, small businesses and this is one that MUST be supported. Next door is Mid Century Madness (also owned by same woman) and again - up my alley. Great original furniture and accessories all in the MCM vibe. Marilyn also let me in the 'overflow' space on the opposite side of Avalon. She was just awesome to chat with, giving me some history on Prescott and that particular section of the town. I left with some great treasures - both physical and informative. I can't stress how important it is to support both these businesses. The other businesses along the street also need support from all of us. Every store has something for everyone. I'll definitely be back. read more

Mid Century Madness - Antiques Near Me - Prescott, Arizona

I'm huge on supporting small businesses so my bf and I were ecstatic to find this furniture store. We found a coffee table that we liked and figured we would purchase it and see how it worked in our space. Unfortunately, it didn't work out. To my surprise, I found out that there are no returns which was never stated to us at all. And on top of that, the owner won't even offer store credit. I am super disappointed to say the least and won't be returning to this store again. I understand that it's difficult to be a small business, however, not even offering store credit is a bit absurd. read more

Strike one.. a few months ago I went next door to ask if they could open the store (they own/manage two side by side vintage stores). The woman acted annoyed because she had a customer in the other side and said she couldn't let me in until the other person left. Not a very customer friendly way to run a business... Perhaps they could get some security cameras or hire another person. Closed doors sure means a lot less opportunity to sell. Strike two... went in again last weekend. The same woman (assuming she's the cheap owner) - before even saying hello to us- immediately snips at my son as he walks in "keep your hands to yourself". We sure will keep our hands to ourselves- and buy our mid-century items in Phoenix from now on. Too bad as I'm a local and would prefer to buy locally. read more

Interesting store...you'll either love it or you'll hate it. But the name TOTALLY fits what's inside. It's owned and operated alongside the shop next door, so if it's locked, just stop in the next store and ask to have it unlocked. Even if you don't think it's your style, it's a step back in time to walk through it. All of it centers around the 50's to 70's, give or take. Some really unique pieces. Prices can be kind of crazy, but maybe that's normal...not exactly my period of expertise. Fun shop though, and nice to have something unique on Antique Alley in Prescott, little different than the other shops. For what it's worth, I assume this place has the dumb $20 min as its sibling next door, but it's different because you probably won't find anything under $20. read more
