    Strader pool

Our pool was finally completed at the end of April. The good news is that it is beautiful! For that, I would give Mid-City Custom Pools 5 Stars. For the horrible seven months to get it done, I would give 1 Star. So I think 3 Stars is fair. I want to be very clear that we adore Josh Lee, our design consultant, and sales person. He is a fantastic young man. He was 100% professional through it all. Another hard worker is Mark Andrews. Once he was officially in charge of our project he worked diligently to make everything right. The general manager, Ross Woerner stepped in to work on our project in late March or early April. He worked with Mark, and together they saved the project. Had it not been for them we likely would have ended up in court before it was finished. There was a construction manager assigned to the project for the first 5 or 6 months. I'm not sure if he got fired or quit during our build. I'm also not sure if he contributed to the overall bad quality issues we were originally dealing with. I do know that he wasn't responsible for the horrendous experiences I had with the owner, Don Pierce. Dealing with Don was the worst experience I have ever had when it comes to paying someone to do work for us. Before dealing with Don, I have never had to walk out of a meeting in tears due to outright disrespect and utter disregard for what we were going through. I could not see eye-to-eye on anything with Don Pierce, and I'm certain he feels the same about me. Because of my husband's constant attention to the whole process and his attention to details we have a beautiful backyard now. Every day he was communicating with someone at MCCP about something. Back to the result... It truly is a beautiful pool, covered patio, and fire pit. We have not had one bit of trouble with is since it was completed. It is an oasis in our backyard. The pictures will speak for themselves. You could chalk our experience up to a collection of bad things happening to good people and make your decision to use them solely on the final result, and that may be fair. I know there are upstanding people at Mid-City Custom Pools that care for their customers and deserve to make a good living. If they aren't selling and building then, they aren't getting paid. Sometimes it's the leadership that gets in the way of everyone else trying to do the right things. Again, focus on the final pictures and know going into it that if you do go with them, you may need to be directly involved in the project details from day one. You may decide that the cost of the pool will make it worth an investment of your time to be more attentive or it may not. The third tip I posted on 2/21/2015: Mid City Custom Pools has yet to complete our pool. It has now been drained 4 times so that MCCP could try to find and fix the water loss problem. We had to hire our own leak detection company to discover 7 leaky fittings. The pool has been partially re-plastered once and then completely re-plastered again. The pool still leaks and the most recent plaster job is horrendous! See pics. Contact me to come by and see for yourself. Pool project began on Sept 24, 2014. That is 5 months! The second tip I posted on 2/4/2015: Do your homework and research. Reviews should be unsolicited. Check the sources and personal connections. Five months in and we're still trying to get our pool done. We're losing hundreds of gallons of water daily. After leak(s) are found, we then have to have all plaster removed and redone. Not looking forward to that mess and more time on this. The first tip I posted on 12/19/2014: Do not use Mid City Custom Pools! A full review pending completion of our pool - if that ever happens.

See how the post is sticking out of the concrete slab.

These guys are very good at talking you into a contract but once you give them the first payment everything change; they stop following up with you, you never know when they going to show up unless you follow up with them. The contractors they use are average.., if you are detail oriented, do yourself a favor and find a different company. This company don't care about the quality of the finished work and unless you are on top of them telling them what you don't like and or what is wrong they will just continue with the job in a very low level quality standards. Don Pierce, the owner was also very " attentive and polite "when I went to see him regarding some issues I was having with the work done; he made me believe that he will take " personal" care of the issues when in reality, he was just gaining time until the work was finished to drop his promises. Make sure that you take your time to have everything well documented on the contract even the smallest detail, I made a mistake by not making sure that the gate I wanted was properly documented on the contract and ended up with a cheap gate that does not make any sense nor match my from gate. I was expecting that Josh the " designer " that came to my house was picking something similar to my from gate as I thought that one of the reason he came to my house was to make sure the job proposal/ design was compatible to the rest of my house; I judged the price that they charged me for the gate and really thought he took that into account. Legally I could not do anything since the measurement and material was what it was written in the contract but I expected better from this company.. My recommendation to you all, 1-If you like high quality finish, don't go with them. ( forgot to mention that the concrete slab they poured was off for a " few inches " and as a result the posts are not at the same level if you look at the bottom and that they Damaged my sprinkler system in the process which they fixed after the 3 time they came to try to fix it..) yes I know, I'm very picky.. But I paid for it and expected better quality. 2- If you still decided to go with them, make sure you take your time to document EVERYTHING you want even the most minimum detail that you might think is common sense; there is not such thing for them. 3- Do not expect them to do the job in the promised time or think they will follow up with you, you'll have to be on top of them. 4- Do not trust the owner ( Don Pierce) and if possible avoid to have " Don T " taking care of your project; he is not very helpful...

Giving this company a 1 star is golden for them. There should be an option for zero stars. Run away from this company!!!! They want your money not your business. I'm 10 months in and my project is not completed. I'm holding payment and will probably end up in a lawsuit with this company. Zero super vision. I have been running the project pretty much from the beginning, having to deal with all the subcontracts myself. YES!! ALL THE WORK IS PERFORMED BY SUBCONTRACTORS. That means you are paying them to do what? Nothing. I could write a book about all the things that have gone wrong and continue to go wrong. Just stay away from doing any business with this company.

Fabulous Experience! After first contracting with another pool company who went out of business and left about 40 households with unfinished projects we went to Mid City Custom Pools to finish the remaining ~40% of the project. They were extremely understanding of our situation and gave us a good price and timeline. Final price was what they quoted and the end results are perfect! They are a great team to work with and are extremely knowledgeable and customer-oriented. As they have been in business since 1973 they have an excellent rapport with our city of Colleyville and quickly transferred permits. All inspections passed first time as they do quality work at each step of the way. We now have a pool, spa and firepit that we love. When we are ready to add our outdoor kitchen they will definitely do the job. A huge thanks to MCCP which we would highly recommend to anyone.

They built my pool wrong. A company who has built pools for as many years as they have you would think they would know what they are doing. I live in Trophy Club which has hills. I'm on a down slope so my neighbors water runs into my yard. I explained this before MCCP started to build my pool. I had countless people To my house to fix MCCPs mistake and all of them immediately noticed that my pool should have been built higher. I'm still trying to fix MCCP mess. On top of that when i reported to them what happens when it rains. It was VERY difficult for them to even want to help me. Poor customer service

After having 5 different pool companies , come out to the house , we choose Mid Cities. I had called 15 of the previous customers, from a list given to me , by Josh our designer. All 15 of their previous, customers had good things to say. So, we choose them. Our pool came out better then expected and Renee our Supervisor, was amazing during our entire build. Ross, the GM made us feel at ease, knowing they would support any , if any issues along the way and after the build. Josh, Renee and Ross, are all great to work with. Renee and me are still in communication, on how the pool is, even a month after its done. Great guy, Renee is!!! If your building a pool. Mid Cities, should be your only choice!!

This is not wet - this is how our deck looked after just a few months. It was supposed to be all one color and "low maintenance."

The most unprofessional company. There are hidden costs that the do not tell you about and takes months to even get the plans to the city.

I called Claffey service, and after considerable back-and-forth and foot-dragging on the phone, I was told, "We're very busy, and we'll put you in the queue." Naturally, I asked for a rough time frame. The response: "We might be able to get to you by the end of next week." That is a complete and utter lack of customer service. To make matters worse, two years ago, during one of the severe cold spells, my pool equipment froze and my heater failed. Claffey had no meaningful guidance on how to deal with the cold weather and offered very few helpful suggestions. One of the more absurd recommendations was that I might need to use antifreeze in my pool during extreme cold. Ummmmmm... The service Claffey provides is okay, and the technicians who have come out have been friendly. However, they are easily 30-40% more expensive than other companies, and that's even after I negotiated a "deal." On top of that, they charge separately for quarterly cleaning, which many other pool services include in their standard fees. Suffice it to say, I wish I had switched companies years ago. Shelley was fantastic to work with during the design and build of the pool; however, for ongoing service, you would be far better off using another company.

I will never see the name Texas Native Aquatics and not relive the trauma they have caused. Let me…read moretell you about it. The previous owners of our home did not care for the pool, so after many years of trying to find the right person for the job, we thought Ryan would be our savior; boy, were we wrong. Things started off great! My husband found him on YELP with a high 4-star rating back in December 2024. Ryan was eager and appeared excited to bring our pool back to life. Ryan and Team started working on our pool February 2025. I mean, this guy is over communicating at this point. Keeping us updated on when they were coming out to the house and what materials were being purchased & so forth. We were indeed pleased. Our first biggest mistake, we paid him in full in April 2025. Ryan immediately stopped accepting our calls and stopped replying to text messages. We were out of $12,000! Thank the Lord we paid with a CC, so we took it up with our bank, but it wasn't easy. In June 2025, we were told by our bank that Ryan submitted pictures of a completed pool---claiming it was OUR pool. As a result, the ruling was ruled in Ryan's favor, not ours. We were in complete shock; utter devastation. FULL TRANSPARANCY POST NEXT: The stress was unimaginable. I stopped eating, my hair began to fall out, and I was so filled with anxiety, I could barely work. Texas Native Aquatics put such a severe strain on our lives, but my hurt turned into anger, AND WE FOUGHT BACK. We were not going to accept this! We took even more photos and gathered even more text messages to prove our case. It took hours upon hours to put the evidence together, but the hard work paid off. The claim was reopened and TODAY, the bank ruled in our favor. Today is September 16, 2025, and our pool is still unusable. It's been drained for 7 months---which can lead to more serious issues. We've declined hosting family events, friend get-togethers and birthday parties for our nephews all due to our pool condition and the pain/suffering Ryan Williams has caused. Feel free to visit his google and yelp page---as you can see, we are not the first to write about being taken advantage of. And as of recently, his ratings have declined. I am truly fearful for this guy because if he continues this type of practice, then he might end up working for the wrong client and he will be out a lot more than he is now. Lucky for him, he got a nice couple I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT RECOMMEND RYAN WILLIAMS AND TEXAS NATIVE ACQUATICS.

This is my saga in dealing with the most impossible contractor I've ever worked with…read more This started around 7/17-18/2025. It all started well. Ryan came by to give me an estimate on a pool demolition. (He refused to address fixing the pool). He made me a great deal, and offered me a discount on some of the new equipment that the pool never got installed (about 20% of retail, better than nothing). He also told me he'd get it done in a week, if he could start right away, and I'd need to pay him half now to start. I should have heeded the bad reviews here. They are spot on. He showed up the next day and the day after that. and then didn't hear back until sometime on the following Sunday. I text him about the haphazard schedule and this was supposed to take a week what is going on? I'll be there later. He shows up with his wife and kid and they do some puttering around the yard, some work is done. The asks were spread out over the weeks but between week 2 and 5 these were some of the excuses. He needs more money. Another $1000 to order dirt. His dirt guy "let him down". We were out there, ha you didn't even know we were there (paraphrasing). We can tell nothing has changed except once when someone came by to take some equipment. I was never notified when they were going to be on site. Dirt finally shows up. They dump it in the middle of my driveway blocking everything (I have a 2x3 car driveway, there was room). It should have been put in a container as now our front lawn is covered in bits concrete that are in the dirt. We told them to move it as it is blocking my car. I had to shovel it out of the way myself so I could get to a doctor's appt a few days later. When the rest of the dirt was delivered as he called me to tell me it was coming today. (called me for the first time to inform me of something). When I came back, they had take the fence and gate off the front of my house. My wife explicitly told him that the gate must be closed when they leave everyday. He told her he had a skidsteer that can fit (It's a pretty big gate. Then he took it down anyway. It is still not back up. August 7th: They fill in the hole finally. It looks too high, I take a picture and send it to him. He replies "I'm coming by" He's told by my wife that there can't be a step here. We ask repeatedly that it seems too high, we don't want anything higher than this slab that they didn't demolish. Please bring it down, there can't be a step, my dog had back surgery in January and he can't go up and down steps. It is non-negotiable. I even recall telling him no steps or nothing more than the current drop from the house to the existing patio deck. It should also be graded. Instead, they drilled into the house to make it flush with the house. We told him several times Today August 23: He warns me for the first time in a while that concrete will be there. And they were and on time. They started to fill the form, and I noticed the went right to the top of the form where we told them we did NOT want to, creating about an 8inch step to the slab they did not demolish. I text him, "it's too high" there can't be a step. I told him to come and fix it after they just poured it. Eventually he gets here and he's already lying about what my wife told him versus what I told him. Then he accused me and my wife of not being together (don't know why that was top of mind for him). He then calls me at some point, I was away from my phone. He accused me of ignoring his communications in the voicemail. I was confused, I thought he was here. Nope, he left. Then he texted me this crazy plan to try to fix it that just didn't fix it (We'll bring that other pad up the 8inches and then use dirt to fill in the gaps...) and that he had already left instead of talking to me about it directly. He was trying to sell me on regrading my whole backyard on regrade and level. He hasn't even finished the first job competently or on-time. I've told him to tear it out. It is what I would have told him to his face if he didn't run. He said, you have to wait for it to cure. Which is hogwash, he was trying to convince me that "I'll learn to like it". Let the guys finish. All the while they're outside dying and pebbling this concrete. I had to go out there and tell them to stop and get it out. They didn't, they just hung around and it was the first time they heard that I didn't want this. Good thing my Spanish is sufficient. I'm going to give him until Monday to tear it all out and repair the damage he did to my home. Also refund me the cost of the concrete he didn't end up using. TL:DR: Do not hire this company. Do not hire Ryan Williams. You're better off doing it yourself than paying this guy to not do it. 1 week time estimate turned into 6 weeks of it not being finished and done to his own standards. He made changes, I would complain he'd blame my wife. No thank you.
