My response? Please update the referral and resubmit. MARY REFUSED. Next time Mary, stop being a total butt clown and DO YOUR JOB. If you cannot handle it, QUIT. Please stop abusing patients. The office is a COMPLETE JOKE. AVOID AVOID AVOID.

OA of Maine uses a percutaneous release with ultrasound leaving a tiny scar, very short recovery, and no need for physical therapy (PT). Obviously each case is different. My previous surgery was a mini-open release which required considerable PT. But bear in mind that the orthopedic surgeon will advise the best procedure for your particular anatomy and issue.

After that I was fairly quickly whisked into the back where they said they would be X raying my neck...what? Not sure if there was a mix up on my behalf or theirs but I assured the tech that we did not need to do this. He didn't argue and pleasantly brought me to my room for intake and to wait for my doctor. Dr. Abbott came in and chatted with me about my symptoms. He was very detailed and never seemed rushed to get to his next appointment. In the next couple of visits he has done the same and has given me several techniques to help alleviate pain along with his work that he has done on my neck and surrounding muscles. Sometimes runs late (don't all doctors) but overall an amazing experience and will continue to go to have work done on my neck.

My interview with the nurse was quick, efficient, and easy. The x-ray tech was there pronto, was pleasant and fun, and very quickly did the x-rays. Immediately thereafter the doctor came in with his fellow, was direct but easy and right to the point. "What can we do to help you today?" After a thorough and consultative exam, an explanation to me about what he thought was going on, a resolution was forthcoming immediately. Directly thereafter the nurse was back, efficiently showed me the exercises I needed to do, and sent me to check out. Check out was immediate and pleasant, and I was in the elevator before I knew what hit me. I know I've used the word immediate repeatedly in this review, however it must be pointed out that my opinion is this not a word associated with your average doctor visit. Particularly not when you're in your patient which I was in this circumstance. I was in and out in one hour which is incredible for new patient visit. AND they were nice about it!

They told me it would be a $40 copay each session which felt steep, but they said it was the "most effective dosing" and referred me to a graph on a poster. After my first session, I told them that I didn't think my insurance would cover parts of treatment and that I was concerned with getting billed. I asked Dr Zagwyn to confirm with billing that it would only be a $40 copay and she did. Then I get a bill for $300 followed by an email that they had made an error but I was still responsible for the bill. I should also mention that while going through their many stations there is a lot of inappropriate conversation between staff as they "work" on you. There are many other honest chiropractors in town. Very disappointed with lack of transparency here.
