This hospital isn't a place I'd send my worst enemies…read more I'm sure there are some good doctors and staff here. But you'd run the risk of getting radiology services, specifically from Maureen Charette and Jamie Kline, and you don't want to do this in your worst nightmare. I went in for a bread and butter breast biopsy to screen for cancer. You'd think they could handle something they do every week. You'd be dead wrong. Here is what Dr. Maureen Charette did during my biopsy: complain about her low salary talk about how annoying it is to go out for a nice dinner on busy nights tell me I did great and she got a good sample Here is what she did NOT do: stick a large sharp needle into the correct part of my body, or figure out if I had cancer. I might be able to excuse simple rank incompetence. But even worse than being a bad doctor, Maureen Charette is a bad person. When the pathologist told her in writing she had gotten the wrong spot, she decided NOT TO TELL ME ANYTHING WAS WRONG, and just tell me it was benign and I should come back in 6 months (to, umm, give her more money for more shoddy work). When I decided to look for my medical records and take them to competent doctors who actually know what they're doing and confirmed Maureen had completely missed the biopsy (in multiple major hospitals in multiple states), she doubled down on the deceit, hiding behind her tech, too scared to face me herself. Her boss Jamie Kline covered for her, either as incompetent as Maureen, or just a bad person. Jamie actually hung up the phone on me when I showed her I knew more about the issue than she did. Keep it classy, ladies. When I did a formal review process, Dr. Christopher Bowe, head of Midcoast, just shrugged and sent me a letter saying I'd signed a consent form saying not getting actual results (after $2,000 out of pocket after insurance) was all hunky dory. I am proud of myself for escaping medical abuse at the hands of Midcoast hospital and their radiologists. Maureen Charette and Jamie Kline are abusers, and Christopher Bowe enables abuse. Please, do not become an abuse victim yourself. Competent medical care is available as little as a half hour away, in Portland, or really anywhere but Midcoast. Avoid being abused, lied to, and gaslit. Shake a Magic 8 ball for free if you want to get a medical results randomizer like you'd get from MIdcoast. Just skip going to this shameful joke of a medical facility. Maureen and Jamie, you know what you did. I think. If you don't actually understand what you did wrong, then the problem is even deeper.

ER Nurse Kara is the worst nurse I have ever experienced in 50 years. I filed a complaint and she is still there. I hate having to choose a health network but if I have to it won't be Maine Health!

I never think to leave reviews for urgent cares/ERs/doctors, but after an extremely disappointing…read moreexperience elsewhere recently I thought I'd leave some love for this walk-in care clinic. A few years back I was getting sinus infections all of the time. When you know you have one, you know. Before I knew about the joys of telemedicine (it's so convenient to just tell someone over the phone your symptoms, the color of your phlegm, and exactly what antibiotic you need to get through the extreme discomfort of a sinus infection; which, if you've never had one, feels like your face is being kicked in), I came here. The wait time was what I thought it would be: around an hour or so. It was relatively quiet when I came, the waiting room was clean, and the interactions with each staff member was nice. I was brought to a bed where a doctor saw me almost immediately. I explained to him that I got sinus infections a lot and I believed I was on the verge of getting one, but really wanted to take care of it ASAP, since I was getting ready to do a bunch of international travel. He took a flashlight, held it against my cheeks, and said, "Yep, you definitely do." (Apparently this is called the transillumination test: the sinuses are supposed to appear hollow and have a reddish glow; if infected it appears opaque and the light doesn't shine through). He was friendly, funny, gentle, patient, and made me feel seen and heard. Now that I can use telemedicine through my employer, I'll probably just keep doing that. BUT if they were to suggest I needed to see someone and my PCP wasn't available, I think - for the Greater Portland area - this is where I'd come back to!
