The library has an outstanding collection of genealogical resources and through a partnership with the Family History Library in Salt Lake, the resources available are nearly endless. You also have access to electronic resources through Ancestry Library Edition while you are on-site. What I like best is the layout of the library. It has a very open feel, complimented by high windows that allow a lot of sunlight to come in. There are many different working configurations...desks, tables, chairs and sofas. I find that this library is much more comfortable than most and I'll drive the 30 minutes to do my research here rather than working from a closer library. Not sure where to start? The Midwest Genealogy Center offers several classes for all levels of amateur genealogists. You can also arrange a consultation with a volunteer genealogist to help you overcome any research barriers. The libraries I grew up visiting had 90s flair, and while amazing spaces that kept me entertained all summer long, they didn't have the grandeur of an iconic inner city library - like this one. The first time I stepped foot in here as a young adult I was in awe. It's just a gorgeous building, and incredible atmosphere to sit and read. The parking garage is set up to look like a bookshelf which I think is cute, and I love how you can just get lost in here and enjoy the space. It just FEELS like a library which sounds dumb but is true. What pushes this into five star territory for me though is the rooftop terrace. On a nice day there really isn't a better spot for an urban picnic.

So for this sole experience I wouldn't use my library card. The area in downtown doesn't offer many parking options and the garage is high.

Love seeing so many community members together in a shared space. Everything was clean and the coffee was great! I would ask for only 2 pumps of lavender though if you don't want it to be too strong. Mid Continent Library system has taken the 1855 Woodneath estate house and the surrounding 33 acres and created one of the true public gems of the metro. The original structure has been turned into themed story rooms with an attached north wing that houses the large library, a coffee shop, display cases, tons of seating options and conference rooms. The south wing attached only by covered walkway and separated by a large courtyard houses event space for regularly scheduled readings and lectures. With gardens, wetlands and trails covering the remaining acreage and connecting it to the neighborhoods and elementary school nearby. Stunning inside and out and looks similar to a presidential museum and library in it's grandiose setting with historic brick and modern stone structures juxtaposed. A hidden jewel in Clay County and Kansas City!

He enjoyed the kids library section. They have some neat in the wall seating for kids to read. They also have a large wooden ' café' for kids to play at. They had a good amount of books for children. The library was very busy on a Saturday later afternoon. I walked throughout the rest of the library to check it out and they have a good selection of books in the teens and adult areas. They also had a cooking room and also other meeting room rooms. It appeared to be a possible cooking lesson going on at the time we were there. They have a variety of comfortable and modern seating arrangements throughout the whole entire library. They also had a huge window area looking out on natural Prairie area that I believe might have hiking trails around it. We do not have library cards with this system so we didn't check anything out, but we did read books to our grandson while we were there. Everyone seemed to be getting good service from the librarians at the area as they were stationed. The library is a valuable resource for all the community members because of all the free resources that one can use. This library was new and modern. I do think the bathrooms could've been cleaned a little bit better or maybe more often.

We were the only ones that showed up but Ms. Lex still held the book meeting. She had activities and talking points. Everything a book club would have. Her and the rest of the library staff made us feel so comfortable. The book was awesome. The library has tons of book clubs with some cool things for teenagers going on this summer. As soon as you step into the library, there is a cute little coffee shop called Post Coffee. It is modern, has lots of seating, and is playing soothing music in the background. The library is also super modern, with LOTS of seating options. There are so many different chairs and tables to pick from so each person can find their perfect fit. There are also charging outlets everywhere which is something I look for when i'm studying. There is a small "cubical" space where there are little dividers between each area so you can focus on your own work without getting distracted from the person next to you. There is also a computer area, study rooms, and an open area. Lastly, there is lots of parking so you don't have to park on street or far away!
