I asked the doctor why an appointment was changed by mail AND the doctor was changed as well, for the regularly attending patient. I was told to ask the staff, and later received certified notice that I was cancelled as a patient. (I asked the doctor a question.) Then several months later, I was notified that I'd missed 2 appointments. This place was bought out by a hedge fund and cares nothing about patients. read more

The office in Summerfield. 1: The only good thing is Dr. Panzo. Very nice and personable. 2: This is a money pit!!! They keep coming up with hidden charges that they do not notify you of. NOT UPFRONT WITH COSTS !!! 3: For the most part the people in the office are nice, however there are some who are rude and have no business dealing with customers. 4: I was forced to go there because they were the only one who was covered in my network {lousy insurance company} 5: They will not give you the time for your surgery till the day before making it impossible to get a ride if you need to secure one from a friend. They expect that person to not plan they're day due to the fact they have to wait till you get your appointment time. 6: I will give thumbs up to the surgery center. ABSOLUTE WORST! If I could give 0 stars, I would. Today is the 3rd time they have cancelled our appointments. "The doctor called in sick," she said. You have to make appointments 6 months in advance then they cancel and you have to wait another 6 months, only for them to cancel again. I called Friday to confirm our appointments for today and they called at 735am to cancel our 830am appointments. ABSOLUTE WORST. Don't not plan on going to any appointment you make with them. Absolutely terrible experience. Earlier this year, my parents, who are in their late 80s, each had appointments scheduled on the same day 15 or 20 minutes apart. We were left waiting for two hours the waiting room. When we finally got to the back, they dilated each of their eyes and left us waiting in the secondary waiting room for another hour. And believe me when I say, no one was worried about it on their end. No one hustling, not a single apology from any employee walking by us for an hour in the back. Then the doctor comes in. Also gave no apology and seemed annoyed when I asked if he could call their primary eye doctor to verify which eye drop he had been using. THEN if that wasn't enough, when we tried to schedule the required follow-up visit when we were leaving, we were told that we would have to have the office manager schedule it due to my parent's preferred doctor's schedule. Called and left message after message after message for their "office manager" and never got a return call. People, this was an appointment to check pressure levels, so it was important. They could not care less. I am so so happy we found a new practice. My parents love their new doctor, and the office staff are polite and prompt, unlike this practice. My personal, good experience, with Mid Florida EYE Center came to an abrupt end during my second post op appointment after cataract surgery. During my exam, I explained that I still see considerable vertical light streaks from my eye. Dr Glenn Pieschke said to me, " instead of bitching and moaning about it, you should have had the more expensive lens to correct a stigmatism." Furthermore, he said I had wrinkles in my eye ... like the ones on your face, he continued. WHAT? I couldn't believe my ears. No apologies. Grateful I had a witness to what transpired. I made a "formal" complaint. Inconceivable, the lack of respect for his own patient. Mid Florida EYE Center is a well polished machine. The rust, needs to be addressed. read more

New patient and RX was sent in for wrong product ( DR told her solution or drops and ex was for gel- which wasn't covered by insurance and $300.) Pharmacy called twice to get clarification and changed, patient called twice that day and once following day for same issue. Each time it was "we will put in a note" , one time I was told they were on lunch break and after lunch it would be addressed. Still waiting for RX. 24 hours after initial appointment. There is a big problem with medical care in the villages area, unfortunately I also work in the medical field and I see this often. Today, I am that 80 year old villager frustrated and can emphasize. The doctor himself may be the best I have seen with my issue, unfortunately the staff doesn't know anything other than "I will put a note in". read more

I had an appointment to have my eyes checked 3 weeks ago (1/24/23) IT WAS NOT WHAT I EXPECTED -In fact my eyes were worse than when I went in to get the tests done. The staff, including the head Dr. made my life miserable during and after the testing was finished. They did NOT ask me if I had Temporal Lobe Epilepsy (it isn't a contagious condition, but it does need to be cared for properly for ANYTHING or my eyes will get WORSE - which they have including the condition I live with. When my companion who waited for me too me home that day, I was so dizzy and nausea's I had to lay down and I had to stay in bed the next day due to dizziness. The testing machines on the eyes are what did it. The bright colored lights and pictures went into my retina and onto my brain. I never received a call about anything like I was told they would. One of the staff asked for Walgreen's phone number so she could call in a prescription for me. I spent A LOT of money for that long, painful, useless test. I was told by others how well I would be treat and also that you did such great work and relaxing work. I guess that is why patients who were waiting with me did NOT like the way things were going - AT ALL! If you can find it in your hearts (because I still CANNOT SEE WELL) and don't know where to go - - - - Would you be kind enough to return my money to. me. I was scheduled for my cataract surgery at 7:00 a.m. Less than 24 hours before my surgery I received a call telling me my surgery had to be changed to later in the day after I had already arranged transportation for myself. They said the reason for the change was that a diabetic patient had priority and needed to go first. Now, don't you think they would have figured that out before scheduling me? In addition to that my post-op follow-up was changed to a more convenient time for them(I assume it was for the convenience of the doctor--tee time?). I don't know, but it undermined my confidence in the operation. I was furious and canceled the surgery, opting to find a more reliable medical facility and a less arrogant doctor. read more

Dr Panzo Performed glaucoma surgery the end of June. After waiting six hours hungry and dehydrated when I got into the OR he put a stent in that broke he asked for another size and they did not have it my surgery was aborted about two weeks later I went back for surgery this time he broke a blood vessel he couldn't see what he was doing so he put two stents in. My eyes are very small I don't have room for two stents and it has caused scar tissue he gave me one injection in my eye about six weeks ago and now he wants to do surgery to remove the scar tissue. The man next to me was there to have his stent removed because of scar issue. I have been in pain for three months and cannot open my eye fully. Incompetent staff it is a milll they are only in it for the money. read more

I will not say this about all the doctors. Nor will I name names. I will say that twice I have had follow-ups with an incredibly arrogant, rude eye doctor. If a procedure does not go as you wish, or if you have a question, expect to be talked down to. As with most eye procedures, expect lots of promises! If u get about 80 percent of what they say u will get u are doing good. read more

I would not recommend this place. I was prescribed medicine which the pharmacy has on back order for 6 months. I called several times and told they will leave a message for the back office. No one has called or send a new prescription to my pharmacy. Going on day three with no response. I think I'm patient but this is ridiculous. read more

I entered at 9:00 a.m for my 9:10 appointment, to be told at the desk that my appt. had been canceled. They could not tell me by who or why. This has happened to me here before. I could check in and they would work me in starting in about 30 minutes. This means waiting until the "regulars" get done first - those who had an appointment today. I decided to walk away for many reasons. 1. A normal eye appt. usually takes about 3 hours. 2. I have had this happen at this practice more than just today. 3. The office often does not appear to be run efficiently. They don't usually answer their phones when you call. I will admit that Dr. Gregory Panzo is a very excellent Dr. but the practice is run very inefficiently. I walked out, never to return again. Bye, Bye, Mid Florida Eye. read more

This is about the new Wildwood office so may not fully apply to the more experienced locations. I have requested 3 times in past 3 months for a simple print-out of billing details, for proof of medical expenses ($4000+) for taxes. Still have not received. I brought my CT doctor's 3 month old reports with me, but had to ask the Dr several times to read them, so that she understood history. Then, I was asked medical questions I could not answer, but was in the report. Surgery on first eye went without incident. 2nd eye had complication, resulting in waking up on 1st night with dark curtain & 1000s of large floaters. As I have had detached retina in other eye, I was deeply troubled. No one warned me that this was expected temporary outcome of the complication. An emergency call did not get Dr willing to see me until next morning. Dr was condescending & dismissive, telling me everything looked OK to her; that there are always floaters but I could not see them due to cataract (huh?). It did not look OK to me. The floaters have now gone away but the memory of how I was treated has not. read more
