In a nutshell, I got overpriced service and very bad (nonexistent) customer service. I was given a high quote for a job that was supposed to take 4 hours, yet the guys did it in 1. Shouldn't that merit a price reduction??? When I called REPEATEDLY to speak to someone about my bill, no one was -- magically! -- available. Despite my threats to fire the company, which I have used for a couple of years, based on a friend's recommendation, NO ONE HAS EVER CALLED ME BACK. Our unit went out in March 2025 and the technician who came out sold us on a $12,000 unit, as it was the best unit for the size of our house. At that time, this cost included installation and all the items needed for an AC unit to run correctly. They did not state there were any other things we may need to purchase to make the unit run. At the end of May, we had another technician come out to the house to check on the unit, as it air was loud, like there was a waterfall in the house, when it was cycling. We wanted to make sure the unit was installed correctly. At that time, my elderly parents were at the house. The technician told them they needed to install a new start assist, as the amps were running high, a surge protector and a trip fee. The cost, $757. I was not in town and was unaware of the extra costs. In October, the company called to have us do our 6 month inspection, which was included in the original purchase. I found out at this time, that the $757 had been paid at the last visit. I contacted the company to see why these costs were charged and was informed the trip fee was a mistake. They couldn't tell me why the other things were charged to my parents, as that should have been included in the original costs or should have been covered by warrantee. I have tried at least five times to speak to a supervisor and have not had anyone call me back. We had a wonderful technician, Nate, come to do the inspection and it was found they never installed the filtration system on the AC unit and it had been running daily in the Florida heat for seven months. Nate, contacted the installation supervisor, who saw that we originally paid to have the filtration system put in and that they now needed to come out to do that. I tried to call a supervisor again after this visit and was directed to a voicemail. I am not happy that my elderly parents may have been taken advantage of or that our concerns have not been investigated. When installing such an expensive unit, I would assume all of the parts necessary to make the unit run would be included in the original costs. We just had our very old AC system replaced by Mid Florida Heating and Air. Their service was prompt, and fair. The two techs in charge of the installation (both named Josh!) were polite, efficient and clean (to the degree it was possible removing such an old system) but, most importantly, they were more than willing to explain in detail everything about the new system working and even questions we may have had out of just sheer curiosity. They did not waste any time in their job but were never in any hurry interacting with us. It was a pleasure doing business with them and with Mid Florida Heating and Air. read more

I don't have an hour to detail all the wrongs - the biggest wrong thing was me buying an 11K AC unit and trusting them to install it properly. It did not work out... They installed it in AUG. and I've yet to have a passing city inspection. The screws in the door are stripped & left stripped by several of their tech's. The heating unit failed upon 1st use, they "built in/around" the filter so it could not be changed- they built it in... this new unit looks like crap, drips all over, mastic melting. Minus 1 is what we give This is what happened! This is a copy of invoice from Vickers Heating and Air for repairs to our AC unit . Wired were left loose in our AC unit from when your service men were out here cleaning our AC ducts. The wires rubbed against a pipe and wire the insulating coating off of it, and it caused the short and blew a fuse. This would've never happened. Had it not been left that way by your service man when they cleaned our ducks. So we are asking for a refund of $150 that we had to pay out also because your servicemen couldn't come out within a 24 hour. Period. I did call. We couldn't wait any longer as it was 90° in the house so we had to call somebody. Please let us know your intentions and call me back at . They never called or anything! First, I have no issue with their service or the technician. My current Rheem system is 14 months old and installed by Comfort Experts which was apparently bought out by Mid FLA Heating and Air. On the first 6-month service they found a marginal capacitor. I promptly told the technician to replace it because it was covered by my original warranty. However, I quickly found out that they would not honor this warranty even when I produced my original invoice which provides a 10-year warranty on parts and labor as long as I remain a Gold Club member. When a company buys out another, they should be required by law to honor all prior warranties. So much for their website and service vehicles which boast "proudly building customers for life". 5/17/2024 - Preventive Maintenance check -Ty**s removed batteries from the thermostat stating they weren't needed. Once Ty**s left my home the thermostat continuously beeped requesting batteries. Ty**s also never reset the thermostat basic information which was there before he touched the system. Ty**s added a surge protector and left a whole in the power box and never mentioned it. On 5/23/2024 - AC unit states AC power lost and power off. 5/24/2024 - AC power lost -Mid Florida Heating and Air Tech came out late that night and said it's a clogged drain. 5/28/2025 - AC power lost continues, I called Mid Florida Heating and Air - Ty**s came out (again, even though I requested an experienced tech) he stated the system needed a recharge and this would resolve the issue. I authorized 2 recharge @ $75.00 each. After the recharge was completed and several hours later Ty**s advised the TXV is bad and stated someone would call me the next morning (5/29/2024) with a quote and warranty information. Ty**s the technician at Mid- FLA Heating and Air was unable to articulate his job and the work he had done. 5/29/2024 - No one called, I called Mid Florida HA and was told they were ordering the part. Later Steven left a voicemail requesting pictures of the labels on both the indoor/outdoor units. I am a Gold Member they should have all of my unit information. I called Steven back several times and he has yet to return my call. The last updates came at 5p by Heather stating they were still working on the part and it wouldn't be available until 5/30/2024. I requested a refund for the recharge and advised that we were without air for 2 days. Heather became rude at the request for a refund and stated they do not give refunds for recharge. She later came back and said it can be applied as credit towards the TXV repair. 5/30/2024 - Again no one called to provide an update on the part. I called a total of 6 times I spoke with Heather at 12:54p she provided a quote of $1500+ this included a warranty processing fee of $60.00 and a credit of $150.00 for the unnecessary recharge of my new 18-month-old unit. 5/31/2024 - We have been without AC for 3 days. Heather advised a Sr. Tech would be at my home at 9:30a est. Shane arrived at 10:22a and he was unsure of the situation he was coming to correct. Shane was very pleasant and informed me he would take a look at everything before he got started. Shane removed the metal doors on the indoor unit and stated the unit does not require TXV. I informed Shane of my entire customer journey from simply requesting preventative maintenance. Shane asked how he could make it right, I requested a refund for the unnecessary charging of the outdoor unit, especially since Ty**presented the recharge as a solution not a possible try. Shane said he would work on that and someone would contact me on Monday June 2, 2024. My family and I endured 3 days without AC, due to an untrained technician ordering a part my unit does not use coupled with a rude and unhelpful customer service manager after she failed to deliver on her overstated promises. I called another company who sent an experienced technician within the hour, who was able to quickly identify the problem (clogged drain) and educate on best practices for keeping my system healthy. Total $179.00 and peace of mind. No one has contacted me regarding this extremely poor customer journey through Mid Florida Heating Air regarding my refund and the damage to the box as of the posting of this. Ripoff company called for emergency and sold a service contract to come out 2x in the year kept bugging me to schedule an appointment stating he would clean my coils and see if everything in working order. Does 1 paper towel account for my coils being cleaned? Then took apart the outside unit and showed me all these numbers on his tablet told me I needed another air flow hole cut in the wall 16x16! Lived here 20 years! 2700 Later I asked him to send me the invoice. Opps he said it couldn't go to my email but the office would send it to me, he was at my house for over 2 hours and I could not get rid of him rip-off company when I called the office 2 weeks later 4x I finally got through to the manager who stated she has called me 3x (really? No record on my phone) she was really defensive insisting I needed all of this crap! I asked her if she was done now and told her I wanted my 150 service refunded she stated only half because he serviced my unit. That was 7 weeks ago. No credit back to my card. My 6 month service for my a/c unit was completed July 31, 2024. One week later, my unit stopped working due to a clog in the discharge line. When the repairman came he provided pictures showing that the unit was not cleaned appropriately. When I asked for a refund I was told that it takes 30 days to process a refund. Poor business practices with poor quality service. Unfortunately I have another year of semi-annual service. They do have reasonable prices if the quality was more reliable. If could give them a zero star I would. My air conditioner was working perfectly fine and they called me to see if I needed service. I agreed to have maintenance service. My air condition stopped functioning properly while they were there servicing my Air Condition. They sent three people out to fix a problem they created and Cory Jackson was the only kind and professional and dedicated employee. He stayed for two hours to help me and took his job seriously. Steven Balkcom was dismissive, rude and unprofessional, and unable to see how they caused this. The third technician who came out, conducted a thorough search and found that their employee actually did cause the problem. They quoted me $1700 and stated that this was a discounted rate! Steven Balkcom thought that he handled everything well and I had to ask for an apology and explain the amount of stress and time that this caused me for two weeks. He continued to call me by my wrong name despite my correction. He either intentionally was disrespectful or did not care, neither which is acceptable. I will go to school and become an Air Condition technician before I ever let anybody from their company step foot into my home. My only hope is that Cory Jackson finds new employment somewhere else so that I can continue to work with him. I would have stayed with that company for the duration, as I have been in Gainesville for 23 years, if they had only handled their situation with common sense and professionalism. Our air conditioner went out on the Tuesday and a sales guy came in and sold us a new unit after we had determined, which I don't believe, that the motherboard had been fried. This is my wife's home and after being quoted $12,000 for a new unit I suggested we wait a little while like a half an hour and determine if that was a fair price. My wife said she has been using mid Florida for many years and trust them implicitly. Being newly married and knowing scams I felt like this was an overcharge and I really didn't believe the sales guy. OK, it's her money. The installers came over at 10 AM to install the new unit and it took them until 3 AM to get everything together. I had to make them leave at 3 AM in the morning the next day because I needed to go to bed and The unit was not working. This morning no one called from mid Florida and my wife called the salesperson and he was unable to answer the phone. His name is Marty. I would not use this company. But since we have a nonworking unit sitting in the house we're going to have to go through this whole thing again and let them try to figure out why the compressor is not working and why the thermostat doesn't work. My husband and I bought a place that needed a new heat & a/c unit. After multiple calls I came across Mid Florida. The owner's son-in-law is the person who came and spoke with us about the unit and our options. Since I was some what familiar with what size unit I would need that part of the process was easy. The unit was installed in January of 2020 while we had our house renovation done however we didn't actually srptart using it until the beginning of July 2020 when we were getting ready for the flooring to to be installed and needed to climatize the house. Since then we have had multiple issues come to our attention. We had 2 ducts added the addition in the house. Neither one was connected properly so we're both leaking air and the one didn't even have air coming out. Since this is an older place I had assumed they inspected the existing duct work for damages but they failed to that. There again we had air leaking in n causing heavy condensation to the point that it has ruined my white oak paneling. Then there is the issue of the visit from there tech for the summer maintenance service on my unit. We mentioned that we felt cold air coming up through the floor.he said it was a cut in the duct work and sold this Aeroseal service guaranteed to seal it and all holes up. After they left the next day from completing the "so called" Aeroseal we still felt the same cold air coming up. I immediately called to complain but since it was so late it was the next day before I could actually talk to someone. Since our new floor had yet to be put down (48 hrs away) we opens the floor and found an opening for what was once a furnace. Our money was refunded since the machine failed to work, as in it didn't spray the adhesive. If that wasn't enough when they connected the unit back up they somehow twisted the duct work for the return. So now now I have a bill from them to tell me what they did wrong and humidity destroying my newly renovated house due to their incompetence. read more

I purchased a brand new house that they installed the a/c unit in. After 9 months they have been out three times. To fix a/c I closed on my house December 31st 2018. They started fixing it oct of 2019. Once to fix the actual a/c once to fix and add ducts because there wasn't enough air going to have my house and third time to redux a/c three weeks later. Saying my warranty was up. After complaining to builder builder paid service fees. No reason why an a/c won't work for a year at least with no issues. There excuse they install the unit in thousands of homes and kine is the only issue. Still this day not even a year old a/c whines they refuse to fix issue even have bbb was involved. Had them come out for a routine inspection and to inquire about replacing my outdated ducts March 13, 2019. Was told my handler would need some deeper than normal cleaning. March 19 we had an appointment to get a more accurate quote on the work that needed to be done. Two techs came out March 26 to replace the ductwork. When they were done with that we were asked about the other work quoted and not completed (replacement of intake vents, a deep clean of our output vents, and the deep clean of the handler). Was told someone would call to follow up. They only asked for $2400 of the original quote of $2900, and said the rest could be paid upon completion. We followed up with the tech who quoted our whole project and we were told the intake vents could take up to 2 weeks to finish manufacture and we would be followed up with. April 5 we got a call asking for remainder of payment; we said it would be paid upon completion. April 13 I hear water dripping and find a puddle under the handler unit; turned the thermostat up higher to reduce use and planned to call for follow up Monday. April 14 I hear loud banging in my handler; call for emergency service. This tech tells me it appears to be because of the state of the handler unit. He disconnected it, and told me to follow up with the office the next morning. April 15: Told there is a note in our file bout replacing the blower fan and it would cost $1400. It had been a MONTH since they found the issue , established a plan to address is and failed to carry through. Horrible communication, and then they want to charge me for a problem that developed after their initial inspection that could have been prevented if they completed the quoted job. read more

I have been a customer of Mid-Florida Heating and Air since 2009 and they have always done a very good job, however, during the last two years service has been substandard. Late Summer 2017 my air-conditioning unit was not cooling and I had called to make an appointment. The first technician came out and charged my system with Freon without first checking for leaks. This seems to be the wrong procedure and like putting water in a bucket with a hole in it, and proven correct because the next day the AC system was not cooling again because of a leak. I called them to tell them of the issue and they wanted to charge me for another service call. Because I was unsatisfied with the first technician they told me they would send out a different technician, so I reluctantly agreed. Then they wanted to charge me an additional fee to do a leak search which should have been done prior to filling the system with Freon. Taking off of work early.... again.... and I find the same technician is at my house and he is ready and he wants to commence work immediately but I asked him to not do anything until I call the service department. I spoke to the woman that answered the phone and I asked for a woman I was supposed to contact(forgot her name) and was told she was gone for the day and she would call me back the next day. The technician, during my call, had also called back to his shop and tells me that the same woman was in a staff meeting and would call me later in the afternoon. Do these people know who works there? Does this sound like I'm getting lied to? So after getting the runaround I told the technician that I would not allow work to be done until I could talk to(forgot name again) the company back and ask for a refund as they did not repair my system during the first service. I was told that they would not give me a refund and would send yet another technician out to my house to attempt to fix my air conditioning system. Because they refused, I have posted three very negative reviews on Mid-Florida heating and air because the $280 they charged me did not repair my system as requested tried to milk me for another $350+. Since posting these negative reviews, they have called me several times wanting to come back to make it right and I would not allow them. I simply wanted a refund and I would go quietly. But they would not authorize a refund so I am stating my case on public forum to warn fellow consumers of how this business operates. To follow up, I called another AC repair service with higher ethical business standards and he came the next day, found a bolt that came loose over time and he simply found it, tightened it, and refilled with Freon and the system is working fine and charged me half of what MFH&A charged me on their first attempt, and failed. I signed up with them due to the ad stating that if they had to come out within 6 mos of their service that this fee would be refunded. I had to call them out about 4-5 mos after their service for my AC unit. I called multiple times and finally a manager promised to refund it when they came out for their next maintenance agreement. They showed up and had no idea that the maintenance agreement fee still needed to be refunded due to poor communication amongst the managers. She offered to refund me the prepaid service agreement fee that I had paid in advance for future work and not for the prior service agreement fee and wondered why I was so upset. (I made the mistake of paying for an entire year in advance for both of my units. She offered to cancel the service agreement and pay me back for the incomplete work.) Why make me wait 1-2 mos to refund me for the service agreement fee when the ad explicitly states that if they have to come out, it will be refunded with "no questions asked." Their quote for my AC unit repair was $1000 more than the 4 other companies who came out to give me a quote. I decided to go with a different company because all of this was dishonest. EVERY SINGLE repair person including their own said it was the worse leak they had ever seen. How did they miss this when they did maintenance? I had another company doing maintenance for a while until I saw their ad. I am so angry that it has taken so long to get a refund for this. They should have made this right instead of making me hound them for the $69.50 fee. Why would I spend thousands on repairs or a new AC unit when they act so shady about $69.50??? read more

AIR DUCT CLEANING - We purchased a home that had obviously not had their filters changed on a regular basis. You could look up into the air vents and all you could see was what looked like fur. The ceilings had 8-10' black dust trails from the vents. Those had to be vacuumed off. I was worried at first because I didn't want to have to paint the ceiling. The dryer vent hose had at least 2" of buildup. We could dust the furniture and almost immediately it looked like we never touched it. We hired this company to get all of the ducts clean because we knew this couldn't be healthy. They came, set up and all of the vents were cleaned, as well as the vent coverings. The result was amazing. Haven't had a chance to see how it will do about the furniture dust. The workers were engaging and pleasant to work with. To my amazement they cleaned up every little bit of whatever they did landed in the house, no matter what surface or where. I've never had a business do that. Normally it's left for the homeowner and, trust me, it never makes me happy. I won't lie, it's not cheap. But if it does what I hired them for I'll be one happy person. These two systems (upstairs and down) had problems from the start which Mid-Fl seemed to have difficulty diagnosing. Despite numerous trip to my house, the issues on the downstairs unit are not resolved. Now, despite still being under warranty, they want $89 just to come out. The service manager won't take my call, and didn't return my call. I can no longer recommend Mid-Fl Heating and Air. read more

For years I used Mid-Florida heating and air and thought everything was on the up and up. I started to have health problems and bought top of the line everything to ensure the cleanest air possible. They gave me a variety of options and time to mull it over. I was so pleased with them, I even paid for the maintenance service. For five years everything was fine until a UV bulb needed to be replaced. They said instead of paying $200 to replace the bulb, I should upgrade to the new and better system that came out since I last bought my system. I admit, I was a sucker. I usually do my research but my health now deteriorates on the drop of a dime so I agreed before thinking it through. They ripped out my old system cut a new hole in my duct and put THEIR name brand system in. When I saw their name on the system, warning bells went off in my head but they had already cut the hole and I was too tired to deal with it at that point. It wasn't until they left that my regret started to build into frustration. When my old Biocide system was on it smelled clean, their system smelled of burnt popcorn. Every time the air conditioner turned on, I got up to check my stove!! I called and said I was unhappy with the system but they said to give it time... and more time when I called back... and to adjust the settings when I called back again... basically setting it so low that it's off... WTH?!?! I wanted to put my old system back in but then I realized they TOOK and KEPT my old system without even asking or telling me. I asked for it back and at first they said they would return it. Then they said that the service guy asked me if he could have it and I agreed (who the heck would give away a couple thousand dollars?). Then they said that it was standard procedure to take it but they'll be kind enough to return it. A week later they put a generic, old definitely abused version of my old system ON MY DOORSTEP. No note, no call, no knock, no nothing. It was the same shape as my old Biocide system but that was it. Nowhere near the quality or condition of my old system. I called and complained again but alas... more deaf ears. Management always seemed to be out and needing to call me back but never returned my calls. BUYER BEWARE!! I don't know if they have new lackadaisical management but now they seem like nothing but shysters. I believe I still had a visit left on my maintenance contract but never received a call to schedule the last appointment. Not that I care because, needless to say that my business with them has come to an end. read more

They Had An Assistant Duct Cleaner & A Service Guy Come Out And Try To Do The Job & After 8hr Plus, 18 Tries Just To Put The 2 Ducts On. The One Guy Got So Upset With The Ducts He Started Punching The Back Of The Unit Yelling FU** FU** FU**.. The Unit Was Not Level And Making A Bad Tapping Noise. They Didn't Have A Reamer To Make The Hole For The Electric So He Used Pliers.. Not Counting All The Scratches And Dents From His Drill Falling Over On Top Of The Unit... $8000.00.... After Talking With Many People At The Company, They Didn't Want To Do Anything About It Until So I Called The Credit Company And Disputed The Charge. I Was Finally Was Told By The VP It Would Be Replaced With A New Unit. After Almost 40 Days It Was Switched For A 4 Ton Bryant AC Package Unit, NOT A 4 Ton Payne, Like I Was Told.. When They Came Out The Second Time To Take The First Unit Away And Replace It. The Install Guys Said The Ducts Had Water In Them And The Return Was Crushed In Several Places. I had an awful experience with Mid Florida Heating and Air over the holidays. My compressor quit working on Christmas Eve, but because I was going out of town the day after Christmas I decided to just leave a message for an appointment to be schedule on Wednesday the 30th as early as possible. When I returned on the 29th I did not have a message from them so I called again. They said they would send someone right out, standard call fee of $89 stood regardless of time of day. Young man was here about 15 minutes when I went out to check on him. He told me there was a leak in my evaporator coil, I asked about my compressor and he said pretty much I just needed a whole new unit somewhere between 5 and $7000. I asked further about the compressor because as I recall my husband had said something about it you using too much amperage. The young man confirm that this was in the records.(my husband passed away in April, Mid Florida heating and air was aware of this.) So the young man explain to me all the benefits of a new AC unit and the difference between just doing a patch repair which they probably couldn't do anyway because then my compressor would go and I might as will have a whole new unit. I explained to him that since my husband's passing I am not allowed to write a check on the household account or make these decisions without my son first sending his contractor out to look at what needed to be done. Which was not true, but I really felt like I was being taken advantage of, after all my AC is barely 10 years old. The young man went out to his truck was gone about 20 minutes and came back and said well you know on second thought for $498 we could pressure test the evaporator coil and then it would be parts on top of that fee. He said he could also do the same with the compressor for $498 plus parts. Long story short I did call my son he sent an AC man that does work for him to my house. I am happy to say my total repair was $531. My evaporator coil did have a leak on the opposite side of the what the other guy told me and he was able to repair it. Before the repair and after He tested my compressor it is not pulling high amperage, it was running right around 7.6 max was 13. I had called mid Florida heating and air back because they were sending somebody out to see about selling me a new unit and he was going to check some prices on the new evaporator coil in a new compressor and I asked them not to come back. I told him how disappointed I was and that I felt I was being taken advantage of. The response was OK. I also did their online survey which of course they did not post so they are aware of my displeasure and no one contacted me. They have serviced our air-conditioning unit for the past I believe seven or eight years. I would not recommend them and would instead warn you to beware. read more

This company literally cost me thousands of dollars and many hours of unbelievable frustration. I called them out to repair my AC which for a few weeks had never shut off and had increased my electric bill to over $500, which was more than $200 more than usual for that time of year. The guy said my fan was set to "on" (it wasn't) and that my filter needs to be changed. AC continued to run and the next month my electic bill was almost $900. Called them out again and another tech said my heat strips were permanently on so my unit was heating and cooling at the same time. Great. He said he disconnected the strip and would get back to us about a part to repair the heat strip. He never got back to us, the fan continued to run and again my bill was almost $900. Finally realizing these people were worse than useless, I called another company (Bounds). The tech came out and quickly determined the heat strips were STILL ON! The mid Florida tech didn't actually bypass the strips, they were still drawing crazy amounts of amps! Oh, and the fan wouldn't turn off because the wires were melted together. My next bill was still about $550, because of the time the strips ran before I called Bounds. And the story gets even better! The Mid FL manager argued with me that they weren't at fault (for a good 45 minutes) and tried to tell me it had been really hot lately and lots of people's bill were high. Really?! Are you freaking kidding me?! He said he wouldn't refund my service call money unless I got proof from Bounds that the heat strips were on and also provided him with the last 3 years, yes THREE YEARS of electric bills. He said he would also be checking the weather record. I was just astonished that HE was giving ME a hard time an making ME waste EVEN MORE OF MY TIME AND MONEY when THEY were so clearly in the wrong. So I had to send them the Bounds invoice and drive to my electric company to get proof that my electricity usage was 2.5 times higher than it had ever been in previous years. About 3 weeks later, I got a refund check for my service calls. But I was still out almost $2,000 in additional electricity bills, and lost hours of my time on useless service calls, wasted phone time and more missed work, wasted gas and driving time driving to get my electric bills.
