We used Mid Island Taxi for transportation from Brooklyn to Glen Cove, Long Island. We needed 2 cars for a surprise birthday luncheon for our 95 year old mother to bring her friends to her new assisted living home. Chris was helpful and respectful in getting us what we needed. He confirmed a few days before and we got a very fair price with great drivers. The friends told us that the driver, Bill, was particularly friendly, competent, and terrific. When there was a problem with the air conditioning on this hot day, another car was sent for the drive back back to Brooklyn. I would most certainly use them again and recommend them highly. read more

When I called to schedule a pick up, the man sounded like he hates his life. When I was finally picked up (late), the man immediately yelled at me because I told him to go to the back parking lot at 4 pm and didn't show up until 4:15. I thought he might have gone to the front. He screamed at me as soon as I got into the car. Then he drove me around town before getting to my destination. read more

$110 (plus tip) to go from LaGuardia to Sea Cliff! I understand inflation but the price literally doubled from three years ago. Plus, I think the driver picked the wrong profession. He couldn't figure out why he couldn't park at the airport. He called me asking where he should park as if he's never gotten a ride at a NY airport. He would not stop whining for the ride home. He also tried to get paid in cash. Who has $110 on them in 2023? He didn't think he could work the card machine. I used to use MidIsland for transport to and from airports. Never again...I'll use the airtrain or Uber/lyft. read more

Yelp is almost a religion for me, so imagine my cognitive dissonance when a seemingly credible friend recommended Mid Island Taxi and then I saw the 1-star reviews. Someone must be wrong! Locust Valley-to-Bayville was $13. The driver was polite and funny. One potential negative is that you may share a ride with a stranger. read more

I've been using Mid Island for a long time, Locust Valley to Glen Cove, Sea Cliff, Bayville...This morning I got a ride to the middle of town just about 1 mile, my son had missed the bus to school. They wanted to charge me $30 for a ride that took less than 10 minutes. Then they guy on the phone started talking about queens and calling a taxi to come from queens to go across LV...but their located in Glen Cove. I was really appalled at the customer service showed to me today. I thought they had better prices than Uber but obviously not. $13 to go 1 mile 2x both ways and they tried charging $3 for a freakin 'stop' the kid got out the car and walked in the door. C r a z y no way would someone pay out that much for a ride that took less than 10 mins of the day. Nah. read more

Since Arena Taxi sold out to Mid Island Taxi they are now a monopoly in the area. The service is terrible. Operators don't have time to take credit card payments. We called for a private ride to Manhasset. The car arrived with a second passenger going to another Manhasset address. First, we're still in a pandemic and the other passenger was not wearing their mask properly. Second, why am I paying full price for a shared ride? I think next time I'll call Uber! read more

worse than not goocar 55 minutes late driver obnoxious .. refused to get out of the car to open door for a 91 year old woman or to open the trunk so we could put her walker in it... said he had " a bad leg" then maybe u shouldn't be driving ... refused to turn on a/c even tho the weather service issued a severe heat alert yesterday... said people always make him open the windows when he had ac in because they are too cold ... ps I put my friends walker in front seat which was littered with trash, food and drink containers ...Will never use them again! read more

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, Mid Island Taxi deserves an award for having the worst fathomable service. I called to ask for a quote and the deadbeat on the other end of the line proceeded to laugh into the receiver of the phone (probably to indicate that my request was ridiculous). After he pulled his head out of his a** long enough to give me a quote I told him that I would call back promptly to order a cab. A few minutes later when I called to request a taxi, the same piece of human waste finally found it in him to explain to me that there were no taxis available in this "storm" which was strange because it was an absolutely clear night. No precipitation. I also found it odd that he didn't tell me that cabs weren't running when I had called earlier. Maybe meth makes you forget information necessary to facilitate a normal customer service call. Mid Island Taxi, if you're reading this. Just do the area a favor and go out of business already. read more

Used them last night to go home from JFK to Glen Cove. Driver was annoyed that he had to wait for our flight and he was rude and nasty. Worst thing about Mid Island is that they have no way of giving the company feedback if a customer is not satisfied with the service. They apparently don't screen their drivers and many are nice but some are total jerks. I've used Mid Island before because they are local to Glen Cove but never again! read more

Had a flight scheduled and wanted an exact pickup over using Uber which is a wait sometimes. Well, mid island showed up just about 30 minutes late. It blows my mind how this company stays in business with all the competition out there. And on top of that the trip to the airport costs $55. Giving 2 stars because driver was pleasant. Next time I'm taking an Uber or a Lyft. read more

Awful. Stay far far away. We called this service and wanted our driver to bring us from the train station to a church about 5 minutes away. He showed up with behavior that indicated he was drunk or high (slurred speech, aggression, lack of coherence) and was belligerent and nasty, ordering us into the car even though it was clear from his behavior that he should not be driving. He pretended not to know where the address was and then berated us for being "tourists" when we suggested that he use a GPS. We refused to enter the car and called another service. read more

Terrible, untrustworthy service. My hotel made me a roundtrip reservation. They showed up late and then told me (in an incredibly rude fashion) that they would not confirm a pick-up location only a pick up time since it was a holiday. I asked if there were other services in the area and they lied and told me no (unfortunately I didn't have access to the internet to look up other cab services).They assured me a pick up at the request time would not be a problem and just to call a few minutes beforehand. When I did that they informed me that they couldn't pick me up for a half hour. I waited at the appointed location and they never showed. I had to walk 2.5 miles back to the hotel in the dark on the side of the road. Stay far away. read more

0 stars. Very bad experience. We reserved a 4am pickup to the airport several days in advance. The morning of the trip we called at 3:30am to confirm. The dispatcher assured us the driver was on his way. At 4:05am the driver had not arrived. We called the dispatcher again and was told the driver was a minute away. We waited another 10 minutes and called again when the driver still had not arrived. We then heard the driver talking to the dispatcher and clearly indicating he was lost and actually no where near the pick up location. We called an Uber and fortunately we were able to get to the airport with just a few minutes to spare. read more

This cab service is cool if you don't mind the driver smoking with the windows closed. It's also good if you need to get to the airport and call an hour beforehand and hope no one shows up because that's also a guarantee. read more

My car has died a few times this year or I have also wandered out having a few cocktails at night and have left the car behind. I have called upon Mid-Island several times day or night and have to say they were Johnny-on-the-spot. On top of that they have sent me this guy Emilio a few times who has been great, funny, and a riot and he deserves his own reality TV show. Not sure why there are so many negative reviews here but these guys will keep us all out of jail. read more

I don't write many reviews but I had to just for this. If I could give less than one star I would. Hotel arranged a driver for me to take me from Laguardia. Gave my exact location and appearance to the dispatcher, still had to wait for over an hour outside in the heat. I talked to the dispatcher several times trying to direct the driver to my location, although it should have been easy as I was right outside the Delta baggage claim and coming off a Delta flight. After an hour I finally got upset and "coincidentally" was put on hold for the first time. Guy finally picked me up and was extremely belligerent, yelling, cursing, and telling me I wasn't gonna admit his idiocy was my fault and just to drop it. I realized once we started driving he smelled like booze too, but by that time I was stuck. This place should not be in business. I'm not the type to get mad at any service employee as I work retail and know how difficult people can be but I had a heated argument with my driver. Given the total lack of customer service, ineptitude, and possibly intoxicated driver it just completely baffles me these people actually are still operating. read more
