I needed a car to take me to the airport at 5:30am on a Monday morning. I called Arena the evening before to make a reservation. The dispatcher (Dan) took my reservation. He was nice, cordial and very polite and told me "see you tomorrow". The next morning the car was at my front door as promised--5:30am. The driver was also extremely polite. He helped me with my luggage and even held the door open for me to get in. This is the second time I've used Arena and both times I was very impressed with their on-time performance , as well as their very respectful mannerisms. I would recommend them 100%. read more

Since they sold out to Mid Island Taxi they are now a monopoly in the area. The service has become terrible. Operators don't have time to take credit card payments. We called for a private ride to Manhasset. The car arrived with a second passenger going to another Manhasset address. Plus, we're still in a pandemic and the other passenger was not wearing their mask properly. Why am I paying full price for a shared ride? I think next time I'll call Uber! read more

Called and booked them to pick up my teenage niece at the train station. Gave them her number in case they needed to call her if running late or whatever. Long story short they never showed up or called. After she'd been waiting there for 15 minutes I called the dispatcher and he said "gonna be another 15 minutes." Dispatcher has no manners he's rude and doesn't care if he gives professional and courteous service and the only reason they are allowed to do this and get away with it is they are the only taxi service in Glen cove. I had a scheduled taxi came to pick up my kids and the guy calls me to tell me he's out side I told him they will be out in a minute since they have to walk down to the parking lot (I was at work and the after school program wouldn't let them out unless the taxi is there, he went ballistic and starts screaming send them out now send them out NOW!!!! This cab company is not only unprofessional, rude, and inconsistent about picking up passengers, but they're breaking the law.This is not the first time I've encountered belligerent cab drivers with Arena, but it will certainly be my last. I called a cab and asked to be picked up at 9:35. At 9:37, he still wasn't there. While not a huge deal, I called the company to make sure they didn't get the address wrong, since I had a train to catch. They insisted he would be there shortly, and as I hung up, the cab showed up. I got in a cab and instead of going toward the train station, he heads in the opposite direction. After asking me if I knew where a certain street was, he made it clear that he was going to pick someone else up. At this point I said I had to make a train, and did not give him permission to get a second passenger. He tells me that this other person is going to a train too. I proceed to tell him that i don't want to get in a cab with someone else since I specifically called to get a cab. He then yells at me to shut up and when i said "excuse me" says "you heard me, shut up with your yelling." Upon getting to the train he tells me I have to pay the same fare as her even though we shared a cab, and upon asking for change, he called me a b!tch. When I told him I would be calling the cab company to report his behavior, he screamed "I don't care, you pig nosed b!tch." He continued to scream at me from his cab while I stood on the platform. Upon calling the company and attempting to explain the situation, the dispatcher proceeded to put me on hold. When I tried to tell him the rest of the story, he then said, "I don't want to talk to you," and hung up. According to the Nassau County Office of Consumer Affairs Taxi and Limousine Commission Rules & Regulations: "A for-hire vehicle driver shall not pick up additional passengers except if the passenger who hired the vehicle requests that the driver do so. " This cab driver and this company frequently disobey this regulation, even when a passenger explicitly asks not to have a second passenger. Do whatever you can to avoid this miserable service. ok, I am done with them! called in the morning for airport pick up and when flight arrived, driver was not there. They need to hire someone to pick up the phones and arrange all the rides, because whoever is doing this is very rude, doesn't listen and doesn't take info needed. They hang up on me few times, maybe because I was taking few extra seconds giving them flight number etc. It's like you have just two seconds to arrange the taxi before someone "barks" something on the other side and hangs up.And then there is a problem, because of lack of the communication. read more

Dispatcher was ok when I called to reserve the car but when they weren't there to meet my train and I called the dispatcher had an attitude, telling me the car had to pick up someone else first and that was just how it was going to be. Just got back from a wedding that was about 10 minutes from our hotel and the fare was $49. FORTY-NINE. WAY overpriced. Had we known it would be that much we definitely would not have used this service. Stick with DeLux if possible. We took a couple rides with them this weekend for a much more reasonable price, including one that was about 30 minutes away and only cost $24. read more

Unfortunately the same guy that answers the main line is probably the rudest individual and customer service person I've ever met. Clearly the guy doesn't own the company but beware, he is extremely rude and literally hangs up on you before you can get a word out. Not surprising since I've read from other reviews that folks have had a very familiar experience to mine. Folks there are options - Uber, Lyft, Long Island Yellow Taxi and good old long term parking near the airport was one of the best discoveries ever (and much cheaper than any taxi). i have no real issue with this company and it being my first time using them after seeing someone getting off the train and asking me if i needed a cab which i did . i called the number and it did take a while for someone to pick up but when he finally did he stated it will be there in about 5 minutes and it was. the address that i had to go too is a little confusing but the cabby who was a funny guy knew the area fairly well and got me there in about 5 minutes. the rates are fairly reasonable plus 24/7 service is a plus. a decent cab company in my opinion. read more

I have taken them a lot of time before but yesterday it reallly made disgusted of how terrrible their service and how rude they are. I usually take them only to get to work if I miss the bus and/or other cabs are busy. The drivers have told me they are more reliable than other cab services in the area but their cars are old and dirty. So yestrday I called them at 906am after I missed my bus and they operator said 15 mins and hung up. I waited and waited and called 20 mins after to see where my cab was. The operator said they sent a cab out long time ago and no one was there so they left. I am like I been waiting here since I called and no one came. He said I am gonna send someone again but it will take another 15 mins. I said ok I am outside waiting. Another 20 mins passes, 30 mins late for work already, I called them again. He said he sent someone again and but no me showed up. I am like I been waiting in the freezing cold outside and no one came. He was very rude and was like I am not sending anymore cars again. I am pretty sure they didn't send any cars because in the past they would ask for my phone number and they would call me when they arrive. No one did that. So they wasted my time and energy. Best bet is to download uber app and use them. It's cheaper than arena and you will get way better service. read more

I don't understand all the "avoid" reviews. This is a local cab service that specializes in getting folks around Glen Cove and nearby. Sometimes, on the way, they make stops to pick up other folks; it's like a community car, and it's reasonably-priced. We have used them for as long as they have been around, on an occasional basis. We used their predecessor, Cove Taxi, for decades before that. Super Snooty Limousine it is not, but it's a reasonably-dependable, affordable way to get around this area. I used them recently to get from the house to the mechanic that was working on my car. Called them, spoke to the dispatcher, who was perfectly nice, but given that the phones were ringing it's not like he can make ten minutes of conversation. He knew where I was and where I was going and said they'd be at the house in a few minutes. A few minutes later, the guy was outside. Friendly, chatty driver. It was 7 bucks from the house to a place ten minutes or so away. A few years ago, my girlfriend used them to get from the house all the way to Huntington (work) a couple of times a week. When she asked for a no-smoking driver, they always sent a sort of upgraded cab with a particuar guy. When it came time to pick her up at work, they were on time. When she made arrangements to be picked up at a certain time in the morning, they were always there in the driveway on time. I haven't used them for airport service; I usually use Carmel or Dial 7, since I have an account with both in the City. They are happy to come here and collect me for the airport. But I don't see any systemic reason that Arena's airport service wouldn't be perfectly-acceptable. Maybe people are just expecting too much, or aren't used to dispatchers that are quick and efficient. read more

Despite the bad reviews I took a chance on Arena, They did a good job shuttling guests at my nieces wedding so why not. Franks was great to deal with. I ordered 3 vans for 30+ guests. The cars were on time, in fact they sent an extra vans "just in case of stragglers" They were prompt, courteous,honest and patient. I recently had knee replacement surgery and could not take my daughter to her winter concert at the middle school. Attending the concert and performing is a large part of their grade and their attendance in mandatory. We had no way of getting her there so we called Arena Car Service. The car took almost 30 minutes to pick her up and once she arrived to her destination and went to pay for the ride she was told by the driver that he did not have change. My daughter barely made it to perform on time and just handed the driver the money and ran into school. When she arrived home and told me what happened I immediately called the Arena and was told the driver was in an airport run and on his way back he would drop off her change. This never happened and when I called the next day no one had a clue. I have used this company several times in the past and was very upset that they have a driver who would steal from a child. I cannot imagine what the negative reviews are about, but my experience with Arena is quite the contrary. My family recently moved to Glen Cove and was using Mid-Island Taxi. They were always late or not showing up. We found Arena and what a difference. Frank, the manager is AWESOME!!! He has sent us a car twice a day to and from the rail either early or on time. I cannot complain about the service. The drivers are also courteous to my family. I wish everyone had the same experience. I truly appreciate Arena's service. Okay, well a few trips later things have turned for the worse. My last trip from JFK wasnt terrible. The driver was on time but they didnt have my credit card information. I had opened an account earlier in the week. The driver couldnt get in touch with the office as it was 1am. So he was driving on the highway while trying to constantly dial his phone. I tried getting him to stop as this is dangerous but he persisted because he was instructed to call in the credit card. Not his fault really and I blame management for putting the driver in this position and the passenger in potential danger. He didnt get anyone on the phone until I was almost home. Potentially dangerous and really annoying ride. My next trip in my flight got in at 12:30 am. This time the driver wasnt there because, according to the dispatcher "there was a delay because the driver got a flat tire." Seriously? what kind of cars do you guys own? Who gets a flat tire on a highway? Wow. Okay, that begs the question of whether I want to be riding in these cars to begin with. I told them they should have sent another driver when they found out about the flat. He said "it would have taken the same amount of time." Really? because an hour later the driver finally showed up. Again, not his fault. The driver was really nice. But another epic fail from management/dispatch. Also, the dispatcher was incredibly rude to me when I called a few times to find out the status. Basically hung up on me 2x and told me there was nothing he can do about it. Well, I can do something about using this crappy company again. Complete disaster of a company. read more

Requested a pick up from the train station to my apartment that was less than one mile away. I normally walk it but it was dark out and I had luggage. After being picked up the driver proceeded to turn the opposite way on the street and drive without speaking. Being a young girl by myself I got very worried and asked where we were going. The driver said he had to pick someone else up before he was going to drop me off. He then drove 3 miles away to pick two other people up, then 2 miles further to drop them off. By the time we got to my house, it was 40 minutes after I had been picked up, when it normally takes less than 3 minutes to drive. I'm not even sure if forcing your patrons to ride-share is legal, and I wasn't even informed until I was in the car, which is extremely unsettling. I called on April 11 for a pickup at Sea Cliff train station. The dispatcher said, "you got it." I didn't. The taxi never showed up. I waited 10 minutes and called the dispatcher again. He said the taxi was on its way. I waited another 10 minutes before giving up and walking more than a mile on a cold night with my young daughter into town. Avoid this business if you can. read more

What a awful awful business run by the most rude, inconsiderate people ive ever met in my whole life. I'm a Volunteer firefighter in Glen Cove and I was in desperate need of a taxi as I was stranded in the middle of no where with -5 degree temperatures. After getting kicked out of my ladies house with no phone, jacket, or wallet the only thing they did for me was call me a cab. Upon the cabs arrival I told them that I had left my wallet at my house. And I need to get a ride there in order to pay them. (only 3 miles) The driver after being very rude to me telling me that if i dont have money to "get the f*** out of my cab, im trying to make a living." I was sent on my way wondering the streets for 30 minutes in nothing but a sweatshirt. eventually I made it to NSLIJJ where I collapsed from stage 3 hypothermia and woke up hours later saved by a passing police officer who saved my life. 10 more minutes outside and my body would have completely shut down. Even stranded and desperate this horrible cab company almost caused me to lose my life. AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS! read more
