My daughter was five when we went on a school trip.she loved it...she really enjoyed the water area....the house area was so super cute, I kept trying to get her interested in it but she just kept going back to the water area and she really enjoyed the like hospital area they have.it was very affordable and as there is not that much to do in tri cities it's a perfect way to spend a day.

    Main area.

Its a very small Museum, and my 6 year old loved this place. The cost of entry was very affordable. I could tell that a lot of thought and energy went into making this place kid friendly.

Then you have to pay extra for the special exhibit which is not noted on their website. For 4 adults and a 6 year old it was over $100 for a lack luster museum. Would rather spend my money in Detroit or Grand Rapids.

It was closed for renovations and I wasn't able to visit at the time, so I made a point of stopping in while in the area. This seems to be a family friendly museum with a large kids area for them to explore. There's also a large area of Flint's history with logging, automotive, General Motors and cars. Also, I didn't have to pay since I wasn't a Genesee county resident? Otherwise I think it's $12 to get in if you are. The car exhibit is fabulous to look at. It's pretty much General Motors since it was a major Flint employer for many years. Overall I didn't spend more than a half an hour here cruising through the place. I thought there would be more, but there wasn't. I was hoping to have spent at least an hour but couldn't pull it off. No, I didn't read every single sign because not everything here appeals to me, but it is a good spot to learn and expand your horizons at.

We left because I didn't want my grandchildren to get hurt beca of this allowed behavior in the museum. We've been a few times when visiting family in the area and my son (age 4) always finds something to do. His favorite area tends to be the little town play area, which has a kid's size fire truck, post office, grocery store and restaurant. There are also areas for reading, science-oriented exhibits and other hands-on learning experiences. During the summer they also have a fun outdoor area for kids to try additional activities such as water rocket launches. The staff is also very nice and prices are reasonable. Tip: if you live in the area and plan to go more than twice a year, definitely get the family membership. Cons: it's on the smaller side and could be a little less exciting for older children. Bottom line: Definitely a bright spot in the Flint area. A great place to spend a couple of hours, young children will definitely be occupied.

The taut athletic body of his polished bronze 'Torso of a Dancer' just pulled me in. I never forgot it. There is a slightly different version on display here, too. The gigantic space at this museum that holds Fredericks' works is overwhelmingly packed. (Be careful not to poke an eye out on a protruding arm, leg or toe.) Filled with white plaster originals, this marbled space is a fitting tribute to this prolific artist whose works dotted public spaces in the US. His idealized, hopeful figures captured the energy of post-war America. Obviously, to Detroiters, Fredericks is best known for the 'Spirit of Detroit' sculpture at the base of Woodward Avenue. The original plaster version is here and it's great to get a closer look at this iconic work. I was also fascinated with another smaller gallery that holds over 300 objects from the late artist's sculpture studio. It's enough to get a good sense of his working environment. Housed on the university campus, this museum also has some outdoor sculptures, too. Is it worth the drive from Detroit to check out this collection? Definitely.

Great art museum in flint featuring top quality contemporary, classic, and modern art!…read more I was really impressed with the featured show as well as works from the permanent collection. Let me tell you, it was totally worth it! While it's no DIA, it actually is super cool. For starters, every Saturday is free admission thanks to Huntington Bank. If you don't come here on a Saturday, that's fine, admissions only like $10 which is super cool. Staff here was friendly and helpful, and we did the whole museum in about an hour and a half. They have plenty of cool artwork here and there's LOTS to see and do. What we loved about it was the different styles of art, and it wasn't just painting. Glass sculptures, a beautiful horse made out of wood, and a library! The library was cool but we didn't go in and check out any books. They also have a QR audio guide if you want additional info about the specific piece of art that you're viewing. Lots of modern art along with historic art from several hundred years ago. They also have a glass blowing section where you can watch artists make glass art forms and they have a person giving descriptions of what their doing and why. We watched for about 15 minutes and really enjoyed the experience. Worth watching and checking out. You don't get to see glass blowing all that often, so that was a lot of fun as well. There's a gift shop and a cafe here, which had a nice variety of products. We weren't hungry so we didn't eat anything especially since had lunch immediately before coming here. I would have stopped to have a coffee if I wanted, but we were not needing coffee or snacks so we passed. Art museums are always worth the trip and if you want a wonderful experience come check this place out. It's also immediately next door to the planetarium, so you can easily walk next door (as long as the weather is cooperative) and check that out as well. It's also across the street from the Sloan Museum but I think their still closed for remodeling from what I understand. Overall a really great day trip to come up and do. Easy to find and a lot of good fun for all!
