Recommend looking for another service. (Still have not found one though). As a nonprofit…read moreorganization, they are not prepared to provide long term palliative hospice. They make me feel like they are about to drop us tomorrow as if we don't qualify for immediate death! It's been 6 months for me and my family and they still can't get supplies or meds right. We go days without pain meds because they can not coordinate who has the next approval step or delivery or follow up. Very stingy on supplies that are necessary for quality care but continue to offer things that are not necessary (fidget blanket). Some of the team members are nice others I could care less about, but that is every where you go.

Zero stars, the most stressful time of our life. Visit with treasure Coast Hospice liaison. 1st…read morevisit was suggested by martin south doctor caring for my husband. Hospice liaison said "he is not ready for Hospice". Gave us brochures and went on her way. Husband was moved to Encompass, I did not feel he was ready for rehab, that night Encompass called me moving him back to Martin South hospital he was not doing well. Martin South called me that night and were sending him to Martin North for critical care. Next AM I went to hospital he was not doing well, was treated for several days they moved him out of critical care. My intuition thought they made a mistake; I was with him every day he was in the hospital watching his body slowly going into giving up. Again I talked with Hospice she took a look at my husband and said "he is not ready for hospice" I was so dissapointed. After couple days of watching my husband go through hell, I said stop with the massive poking of needles, trying to draw blood and he is in pain. I left that evening he was going to sleep he said goodbye love you, he had always said goodnight. I prayed for him; I knew that would be the last of his pain. That morning he was in coma they moved him to a private room and then called hospice I said ok maybe they will learn something from this, I guess a person has to be dead to have hospice. We all said our goodbyes he passed away that evening. Now hospice wants to help us with our grieving, I went through the hardest time of my life. Don't believe the rosy picture they paint! Maybe a big $ donner helps with the fancy brochures but not hospice care. God took care of my husband and will take care of me.

SOLID 5 STARS! My 91…read moreyear old mom fell 2X in 2 days a few weeks ago. The paramedics that arrived when she pressed her life alert button took her to the hospital for tests, where they discovered she had Shingles. After she was released from the hospital my siblings and I arranged for her to get rehab at Menorah Life. We had heard good things about this facility. They took good care of Mom. Shingles meant private room and every nurse, caregiver, etc. had to don fresh sterile scrubs whenever they entered the room. My only complaint is that they somehow categorized Mom as having dentures, and it took several days to straighten them out so she could be served real food instead of mush. Mom is the world's worst patient. She complains about everything CONSTANTLY. After 2 weeks, they released her. Not because she had completed rehab and done her exercises to be stronger on her feet, but because she refuses to exercise and there was nothing they can do for a recalcitrant patient. I give full marks for the staff. It takes a special kind of person to stay cheerful and helpful when you get nothing back but complaints and abuse. Highly recommended!

By late December or January, she had another UTI. I saw the signs. Even though she was treated, I…read morefelt in my gut it was still lingering. I asked her fresh out of nursing school and inexperienced nurse, Courtney, to retest her. Multiple times. She refused, dismissing it and saying "the doctor said no." Meanwhile, my Mom's PEG tube kept clogging, and they chalked it up to her "decline" instead of questioning their own care plan, which included meds that weren't even safe for PEG use. It wasn't until a Glucerna shipment got damaged during transit that they told us to rush her to the ER to avoid a sugar crash that we got answers. The hospital confirmed what I'd suspected all along: she still had a UTI. That worsening infection plus wrong meds had been contributing to the constant PEG clogs, and her overall decline. Even after that, AccentCare had the nerve to discharge her from hospice while she was still in the hospital. That's not compassionate care. That's medical mismanagement and hospice negligence. Absolutely disgraceful. Families deserve better than this. Trusting them cost my Mom time, comfort, and dignity.

ACCENT HOSPICE LARGO st Pete locations…read more I want to start out by saying DO NOT hire this company. T they hey have not adhered to state guidelines written to be a hospice In Florida!! I had to literally send the law to them to get a simple blood pressure monitor which falls under medical equipment. They have filed a FALSE POLICE Report because I have called their CEO of the company and they are now going to be under review and terminated. They have canceled all my scripts that they were paid for to perform as one of their duties as a hospice here on Florida. They promised to help with paying rent etc , have tried everything to manipulate me mon the phone by a supervisor that she actually had the nerve to say you joined hospice for a $1000 for rent ? Is that really a question anyone would ask someone with 6 months or less to live ?? Honestly made me drive to meet them at a restaurant while I tell them I'm going blind and oh no you have to get there . They have told me that the round a clock service? Call back during regular hours ,, . I have to say that the amount of abuse they feel they have the power with clients of them is frightening. I'm only 52 years old and a Marine. They have tried everything to cyoa themselves with their answers. I can tell you that if you go with this company. They hide who you can talk to about them all the way up to the company that owns them . I can tell you I have spoken to the ceo who is appalled at there indiscretions and hopefully they do decide to pay the rent money they did promise to help after hiring them not before which was brought to my attention after by a social worker for them . Misinformed completely by the way after getting the supervisor piper and I'm not sure of the other name . I want you to know they are the worst in my opinion so far as to abiding to the code and standards for hospice. They will have a few employees going to jail for filing a False report with the police which cost me a place to stay because of the embarrassment for the residents of hotel. They will have a lot to answer to as I have recorded all conversations. The police ought to love how the report they gave actually didn't happen the way they said it did and they get the handcuffs on and get bail. Which I will appear at their arraignment to make sure they don't get bail as to now I'm afraid to give any hospice my home address or where I might be staying seeing as they have cost me 2 residency's due to not keeping to their word on help with the rent , and sending police officers to a hotel I was vacationing at and got me to have to leave the hotel due to the embarrassment of the hotel for police to be there . And what else can I tell you . The doc thinks that if a med you tell them doesn't work and it's in the records what does , he says we will just double it up till it does. If you are dying die at the rate you should. They have shown me that by their logic , give you more of what doesn't work to keep you pain free and comfortable is just money to them and pain for you. I hope you seriously avoid this company. I'm posting them on the Black list at every VA hospital. And I'm going to make it public knowledge on 8 on your side . I think it will be a hot topic to show how our tax dollars are being abused along with those dying young or old !!!! Do not use this company!!!!!

Unlawful eviction of twelve year resident…read more SUMMARY My mother, 89, was unlawfully evicted from Aventura Bay Place (formerly called Bon Secours Place) assisted living facility in 2021. She had lived there 12 years. The eviction was unlawful because my mother was not given 45 day advance notice of eviction as required by Florida state law. There was no physician certification that relocation was necessary. My mother was not harmful or offensive to other residents. The history of events relating to my mother's eviction are provided here. HISTORY OF EVENTS My mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease in her mid seventies and has had slowly advancing dementia since. In 2009 at age of 77 my mother moved to Aventura Bay Place assisted living where she lived for the next 12 years. In January 2021 my mother contracted COVID-19. She spent one week in hospital followed by two weeks in temporary COVID-19 quarantine. Prior to her bout with COVID-19, my mother could stand and walk independently. After COVID-19 she was in good general health but the infection decreased her strength and mobility and she now required a wheelchair in general. When helped to her feet she could support her own weight and walk short distances with two-person assistance. In the months following her COVID-19 bout my mother received daily walking exercise assisted by Aventura Bay Place caregivers, independent paid companions, and myself. On December 23, 2021, the Aventura Bay Place director of nursing told me that my mother had to leave immediately because she did not meet the criteria for residents to be able to "stand and pivot on their own" and "transfer themselves independently." This was the first time I was informed by Aventura Bay Place that my mother was being evicted. I tried to contact the director of Aventura Bay Place but my messages were not returned. I asked the director of nursing why my mother was not given 45 days advance notice of eviction as required by Florida state law. The director of nursing said there had been a "sudden change" in my mother's mobility and that "two weeks ago my mother was standing and dancing unassisted" but now she is unable to stand unassisted. Even if this claim were true, it did not exempt Aventura Bay Place from the 45 day advance notice of eviction because no physician had been involved and there was no certification that emergency relocation was necessary. Furthermore, the claim that my mother's mobility had changed recently was not true. I had been visiting my mother two hours every day for the previous five months (since August) and my mother's independent paid companion had been visiting her three hours per day five days per week for the past six years. We both confirmed first hand from daily walking exercises that there had been no change in my mother's mobility over the previous 11 months since her bout with COVID-19. This was further corroborated by Aventura Bay Place caregivers that worked daily with my mother. When I reached the director of Aventura Bay Place to discuss my mother's eviction I asked why she was not being given 45 days advance notice of eviction as required by Florida law. I explained there was no physician certification requiring emergency relocation and that my mother was not harmful to or harassing other residents. I also explained that multiple sources could confirm there had been no change in my mother's mobility or general health over the previous 11 months since her bout with COVID-19. The director only reiterated that my mother no longer met the mobility criteria for residents and would be evicted in 24 hours. At this stage rather than continue protest on my mother's behalf I decided it was better to find alternative long-term care for my mother. We found a new assisted living facility that had no problem accepting my mother with her existing mobility. CONCLUSION For most of the 12 years living at Aventura Bay Place my mother received competent and compassionate care. Unfortunately, one decisive and unlawful action by the administration resulted in extreme hardship. I cannot recommend Aventura Bay Place.
