SOLID 5 STARS! My 91…read moreyear old mom fell 2X in 2 days a few weeks ago. The paramedics that arrived when she pressed her life alert button took her to the hospital for tests, where they discovered she had Shingles. After she was released from the hospital my siblings and I arranged for her to get rehab at Menorah Life. We had heard good things about this facility. They took good care of Mom. Shingles meant private room and every nurse, caregiver, etc. had to don fresh sterile scrubs whenever they entered the room. My only complaint is that they somehow categorized Mom as having dentures, and it took several days to straighten them out so she could be served real food instead of mush. Mom is the world's worst patient. She complains about everything CONSTANTLY. After 2 weeks, they released her. Not because she had completed rehab and done her exercises to be stronger on her feet, but because she refuses to exercise and there was nothing they can do for a recalcitrant patient. I give full marks for the staff. It takes a special kind of person to stay cheerful and helpful when you get nothing back but complaints and abuse. Highly recommended!

The mission of the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) is to provide a sanctuary for a sick or injured child by surrounding them with their family members and an amazing staff of healthcare workers. I cannot possibly imagine the agony of a parent being told that their child has cancer or a rare blood disorder; nor can I imagine these innocent young kids having to struggle to survive and heal when they don't understand what is happening to them. Many families travel far from home and spend several weeks or months to get treatment for their seriously ill or injured children - a long time to be away or to divide a family. And, for children facing a serious medical crisis, nothing seems scarier than not having mom and dad close by for love and support. A Ronald McDonald House is that "home-away-from-home" for families so they can stay close by their hospitalized child at little or no cost. The Ronald McDonald houses are built on the simple idea that nothing else should matter when a family is focused on the health of their child - not where they can afford to stay, where they will get their next meal or where they will lay their head at night to rest. They believe that when a child is hospitalized, the love and support of family is as powerful as the strongest medicine prescribed. At every house, families can enjoy home-cooked meals, private bedrooms, and playrooms for their children. It is the generosity of volunteers and donors who make it all possible for the more than 7 million children and their families who are helped each year. In return, families either stay at no cost or are asked to make a donation up to $25 per day, depending on the House. The RMHC Global Policy is that families are never turned away; if it's not possible to pay, then the fee is waived. Volunteers and corporate partners make the difference in the lives of all the families that come through their doors - cooking, hosting, listening, nurturing, or by simply being there and helping out in any way they can. On this particular day I was on a tour and stopped inside the Ronald McDonald House to see some of the youngsters resting and playing in between their treatments. I was seated on a bench inside, and a little guy came over and hopped up next to me. He just looked at me and smiled, and said "Hi, will you play with me?". Wow, what a powerful moment! I encourage all of you to gather a group of people and go to one of these amazing places. Offer to help cook a meal, or just spend some time with the kids and their families. Donate your time, maybe some of your funds, or just sit on the floor and read a child a story. You'll walk away a changed person, and you will have made the difference in the life of a child.

It has taken me some time to write this review, as my mom passed away here at the end of 2023, and…read morethe feelings of grief are still somewhat fresh. Most of the staff here are caring and compassionate. However, one of the intake counselors was very cold, insensitive, and made for a poor experience in a dark time for our family. I do understand the need for transparency, but telling family members your loved one is being discharged because they basically lasted too long here alive was distressing and unprofessional. Yes, you have policies, and yes, you go through them upon arrival. But my guess is many people trying to navigate the impending loss of a loved one are hardly going to remember everything they are presented with upon arrival at hospice. Several of us, including a pastor, kept dodging the low cabinets with dangerous corners near the patients' beds. The pastor did hit his head while praying over our mom. One day, I had to go to the ER because I cut my head on the cabinet, so beware of these sharp, low corners. You would think there would at least be caution sign or bright tape on them! The bright spots were the beauty and peacefulness of this place, and we also appreciated being able to sleep overnight in our mom's comfortable room. Thank you to the staff who cared for our mom until the very end. It is just a shame not all of the staff was as compassionate. I hope this review will help those contemplating bringing their loved one here.

To Whom It May Concern,…read more I am filing this complaint to document the horrific experience my family endured due to the gross negligence and abandonment by LifePath Hospice during my father's final days. This organization utterly failed in every capacity and caused my mother and me immense emotional trauma. From the moment we enrolled in hospice care, we were led to believe LifePath would provide support, guidance, and compassion. Instead, we received only one visit, and only after we called and specifically requested assistance. There was no sustained follow-up, no meaningful contact, and no presence when it mattered most. After intake, we were told someone would visit the next day. I informed hospital staff to contact me if anyone from hospice arrived. No one ever did. I only realized in the chaos of the day, around 7 p.m., that we had been completely abandoned. When a nurse from LifePath finally arrived the next afternoon--after we had to ask for someone to come--it was far too late. My father was already declining rapidly. Over the next three days, as my father actively died, not a single person from LifePath Hospice contacted or visited us again. The only outreach we received was a generic voicemail offering "counseling," which felt like a cruel joke after everything we had endured alone. To add further insult, we later received a survey request--as if our opinion mattered to a company that ignored us in our most desperate hour. We had already emailed our frustrations, yet we were still contacted again. This level of tone-deafness and lack of empathy is disgraceful. This experience was traumatic and completely contrary to the mission LifePath claims to uphold. They failed my dying father. They failed our grieving family. Their absence forced us to lean entirely on hospital nurses, who were not affiliated with the hospice and should never have had to shoulder that burden. We are demanding: A formal acknowledgment of this complaint; A detailed explanation of why this happened; A clear outline of corrective steps to ensure no other family is subjected to this level of negligence and abandonment; Immediate and permanent removal of all contact information from their records. We have asked multiple times and continue to receive unwanted outreach. This organization is not fit to call itself a provider of compassionate end-of-life care. What they did--or more accurately, failed to do--was inhumane.

Unlawful eviction of twelve year resident…read more SUMMARY My mother, 89, was unlawfully evicted from Aventura Bay Place (formerly called Bon Secours Place) assisted living facility in 2021. She had lived there 12 years. The eviction was unlawful because my mother was not given 45 day advance notice of eviction as required by Florida state law. There was no physician certification that relocation was necessary. My mother was not harmful or offensive to other residents. The history of events relating to my mother's eviction are provided here. HISTORY OF EVENTS My mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease in her mid seventies and has had slowly advancing dementia since. In 2009 at age of 77 my mother moved to Aventura Bay Place assisted living where she lived for the next 12 years. In January 2021 my mother contracted COVID-19. She spent one week in hospital followed by two weeks in temporary COVID-19 quarantine. Prior to her bout with COVID-19, my mother could stand and walk independently. After COVID-19 she was in good general health but the infection decreased her strength and mobility and she now required a wheelchair in general. When helped to her feet she could support her own weight and walk short distances with two-person assistance. In the months following her COVID-19 bout my mother received daily walking exercise assisted by Aventura Bay Place caregivers, independent paid companions, and myself. On December 23, 2021, the Aventura Bay Place director of nursing told me that my mother had to leave immediately because she did not meet the criteria for residents to be able to "stand and pivot on their own" and "transfer themselves independently." This was the first time I was informed by Aventura Bay Place that my mother was being evicted. I tried to contact the director of Aventura Bay Place but my messages were not returned. I asked the director of nursing why my mother was not given 45 days advance notice of eviction as required by Florida state law. The director of nursing said there had been a "sudden change" in my mother's mobility and that "two weeks ago my mother was standing and dancing unassisted" but now she is unable to stand unassisted. Even if this claim were true, it did not exempt Aventura Bay Place from the 45 day advance notice of eviction because no physician had been involved and there was no certification that emergency relocation was necessary. Furthermore, the claim that my mother's mobility had changed recently was not true. I had been visiting my mother two hours every day for the previous five months (since August) and my mother's independent paid companion had been visiting her three hours per day five days per week for the past six years. We both confirmed first hand from daily walking exercises that there had been no change in my mother's mobility over the previous 11 months since her bout with COVID-19. This was further corroborated by Aventura Bay Place caregivers that worked daily with my mother. When I reached the director of Aventura Bay Place to discuss my mother's eviction I asked why she was not being given 45 days advance notice of eviction as required by Florida law. I explained there was no physician certification requiring emergency relocation and that my mother was not harmful to or harassing other residents. I also explained that multiple sources could confirm there had been no change in my mother's mobility or general health over the previous 11 months since her bout with COVID-19. The director only reiterated that my mother no longer met the mobility criteria for residents and would be evicted in 24 hours. At this stage rather than continue protest on my mother's behalf I decided it was better to find alternative long-term care for my mother. We found a new assisted living facility that had no problem accepting my mother with her existing mobility. CONCLUSION For most of the 12 years living at Aventura Bay Place my mother received competent and compassionate care. Unfortunately, one decisive and unlawful action by the administration resulted in extreme hardship. I cannot recommend Aventura Bay Place.
