Extremely disappointing--and frankly, confusing--customer experience with Patton…read more Patton apparently says it was established with the goal of providing its customers with "the best customer experience possible." After my experience, I have to assume that statement comes with some very creative definitions of both customer and experience. I first contacted Patton on August 11 after we experienced a power surge the night before and the upstairs HVAC system, which Patton had installed in May of this year, stopped working. We are new to Tennessee and were unfamiliar with brownouts and the possibility of an HVAC system entering a safety shutdown after a power event. I was able to restart the system and it was operating perfectly. I wasn't calling to complain or demand service--I simply wanted to confirm that I had taken the correct steps and hadn't done anything that could potentially damage the system. During that same call, I requested the records for the system, including the warranty registration information. I was told those would be emailed to me. I also requested information about a membership agreement because I was interested in having Patton continue servicing both my upstairs and downstairs HVAC systems. The only information I received was an invitation to become a member on August 11. The records and warranty information I specifically requested? Apparently those were destined for the same place as the promised callback. Later that day, while inspecting the upstairs unit in the attic, I noticed that the copper refrigerant line was exposed. It appeared an attempt had been made to tape or secure it, but the tape had shifted and the line did not appear to be properly insulated or sealed. Considering the system was only approximately three months old, I called Patton on August 12 and politely asked if someone could come out and properly secure the line. I was told someone would call me back. They didn't. On August 17, I tried calling again. This time I was greeted with the message: "We cannot complete this call." Apparently, this is Patton's interpretation of the "best customer experience possible." It turns out my phone number had been blocked. I'm still trying to understand exactly what I did to earn that distinction. I wasn't abusive. I wasn't demanding anything unreasonable. I wasn't even asking them to do anything beyond addressing a concern with an installation that they had performed only three months earlier. I was also trying to obtain basic warranty and equipment documentation for a system they installed. The other issue involved the downstairs HVAC system, which was installed in 2023. I asked whether Patton had service records showing whether the system had been properly maintained and whether I could obtain those records. I was told they don't keep records. As a military family that has moved several times, we've dealt with quite a few HVAC companies over the years, and we've always been provided maintenance and service documentation. So I found that answer unusual and asked some perfectly reasonable follow-up questions. I was trying to understand the history of the system and make sure there weren't existing issues I needed to know about. Apparently, asking questions about your HVAC systems is enough to get you promoted to the "do not answer this customer's calls" list. I understand that misunderstandings happen. I understand that companies get busy. I even understand that a company may occasionally disagree with a customer's request. What I don't understand is blocking a customer's phone number instead of communicating with them. If Patton's idea of delivering the "best customer experience possible" is promising to send documentation and never sending it, promising a callback and never making it, refusing to provide basic service information, and ultimately blocking the customer's phone number, then I suppose they have succeeded spectacularly. Unfortunately, this experience has completely undermined my confidence in allowing Patton to service or stand behind either of my HVAC systems going forward. The irony is that I initially contacted Patton because I wanted to continue doing business with them. I was literally asking how to become a maintenance customer. They managed to turn a customer who was actively trying to give them more business into a former customer without ever having to say "no" to the membership. That's genuinely impressive. There are plenty of HVAC companies that understand that customer service means more than installing a unit and collecting a check. I strongly recommend finding one of those companies. I made sure to let my realtor know as well so she can recommend literally anyone else to those new to the area and unaware of these guys. If "the best customer experience possible" is actually the goal, Patton may want to consider starting with answering the customer's phone call.

When our old hot water heater permanently died we initially called other local companies who spend a lot of $ on advertising. Their bids were astronomically high. Automatic's bid for a replacement tankless hot water heater was fair and "do-able". Dustin & associate from Automatic came out to perform annual maintenance on the unit today. He could not have been any nicer or made any of it easier. it was a joy to have him here.

May 19, 2025 Above &Beyond Plumbing & Electrical did the…read morewiring on our new patio. After that past inspection, they installed outlets lighting, and two ceiling fans. One of the ceiling fans was wobbly. I called and asked if they could come out and check it because it should be under warranty as it's been less than two months. The lady on the phone was polite and professional scheduled me quickly for a couple of days later this week. They had an opening today the same day I called and were able to get someone out and take care of it. The electrician and his apprentice also polite and professional. My fan does not wobble. I don't hold the wobble against them because it could happen to anyone they owned up to it and took care of it. If we need an electrician again, Above and Beyond it the top of my list. Very happy with the service 100% recommend them.

The problem was a compound fractured pvc pipe and broken clean out adapter. They worked with a local company to repair the pipe from the inside (and behind the brick wall) saving us thousands from potentially cutting through our remodeled bathroom. Jamey was responsive always returning texts and calls promptly, and really cared about the work. He made sure they weren't going to stop until the problem was absolutely fixed. They're not only good at what they do, they definitely get a thumbs up for integrity and customer service.
