One of our toilets was knocked loose from the seal. When flushed it would leak where it meets the floor. Called Monday, was told Thursday morning was as soon as they could come out. No problem as we just used the other one. Later that day they called and said there was a cancellation and could come Wednesday. The plumber arrived near the end of the 4 hour window. He did call first. He was professional. He looked at the " job ". Gave me a quote. I approved it. He got right to work. Took about an hour or so. I returned home from an out of town trip to find that I had water pooling and running in my yard. I contacted my water department and the technician confirmed a leak and that I would need to contact a plumber. A friend recommended Smith's based on their 5 star rating on google and the A+BBB rating. I read the reviews and checked out their website. I called and Amber was extremely nice and helpful in getting me setup for an appointment. She even gave me a number to send the video of the leak I had. My appointment was the next afternoon. The next day Amber had texted to let me know that if it rained the technician would reschedule since it would be difficult to find a leak in the rain but that the technician would let me know. However the rain held off and I received a text that the technician was on his way. The text had a picture along with the name of who was coming. That is something I liked and really felt stood out with customer service. The technician Joe arrived extremely nice guy down to earth very professional. He got right to the job and literally within 15 minutes checked out what was going on. He gave me the estimate-and military discount. I was ready to schedule for the service to see when they could do it. I pulled my calendar out and Joe was like are you going to be here and I said yes and he said ok I'll go get my tools. Lol! I was like this is great I had no idea he had time to take care of it today. It was perfect. Joe got to work and I mean this guy worked! He got the job done and made sure everything worked ok. Found the problem, fixed it better than before with better parts. He made sure that the work he did I was happy with and I'm telling you the service from this company from the first phone call to Amber to meeting Joe was "Top of the Line" excellent service! The quality of work and I felt the price was fair. I hope I do t have another leak but if I need any plumbing done, Smith's will be my first call. Unprofessional. Negligent. First off I was told they were professional and Memphis' best. Within 10 minutes of working they dug into the gas line. No dig permit was filed before they started digging so the city never came and sprayed where the line was. There was a gas leak for over an hour in a neighborhood putting everyone at risk all bc they didn't file the proper permit. It wasn't filed until AFTER they dug into the gas. I was told "it happens" and after going back and forth about their gross negligence they knocked a few hundred dollars off. Put my home, myself and my neighbors all at risk with a gas leak bc they didn't call first before they dug. I scheduled the service Wednesday at noon and they stated digging Thursday morning. City has 48 hours to respond to a dig request. Smith didn't wait for that and just started digging. Then when I brought it up they lied to my face and said it was marked wrong. Just wanted to refresh this as a BIG CAUTION for anyone considering using SMITH Plumbing for your next large plumbing repair. As I had mentioned prior to this,...I tried to hire these guys at Smith's years ago and it was the absolute worst experience ever. They estimated the repair at above $3500 which also involved digging up the entire side of my yard. After securing another plumber to provide another opinion, I opted switching to him and it resulted in a significant savings of more than HALF of what Smith's had quoted me to make the repair. To make matters even worse, the location of the leak was not even where the guy from Smith's had said WHICH obviously would have resulted in ADDITIONAL COSTS as they searched to find it!! Basically I avoided a financial NIGHTMARE!!! Just be careful with these guys and ALWAYS get a second or third estimate. You may get "lucky" with Smith's or as in my case,....you may not. In a way, I was indeed lucky; lucky I went elsewhere. Here I am in Oct. 2025 and the work conducted has still held up! read more

Will Newman was so professional when he arrived at my home to run a camera to look at my sewer system. What I really appreciated the most was the HANDSHAKE when he greeted me! That was unexpected and rare when I have dealt with other companies in the past. Will explained the process and could relate to the issue I was having. Smith plumbing is very expensive, charging $350 to snake and clear a bathroom drain at most other plumbers charge $75 to $100. I sent another plumber for $75 to do the job. Shop around as Smiths is very expensive, if they charge that to clear a drain can you imagine what they would charge for a big job. read more

Ryan Nelson was on call and went the extra mile. smith plumbing had installed a new water heater about a year ago. i discovered after hours I did it have hot water so I called the answering service. I had decided it was not an "emergency " and I was going to wait till morning to have some one come out. These guys were good. Responsive, showed up on time, and completed the work even better than I expected. I had them install a water line to our backup refrigerator. The tech installed two valves, one at the source and a second one near the refrigerator. He ran the line neatly through cabinetry and secured it well. Our sewage backed up due to tree roots in cast iron pipes. We live in a very old home. One of my toilets looked like it had exploded and poo everywhere! I called Smith plumbing and they came out the same day. Kyle, my technician called and came earlier than expected. He also text on his way. He did a thorough search for clean outs which another plumber from another company did not. Once he found the clean out he could see we needed to replace our old cast iron pipes to PVC. Kyle was very professional and made sure to take his shoes off before entering. He was very professional, gave me a quote and started the process once we paid invoice. They were fast and efficient!! Very expensive and install team was very inexperienced (one was only on his second day as an install tech). Although I reminded them, install crew neglected to put up a plastic barrier when running a jack hammer to demo concrete slab and didn't turn off the hot water when taking out the jacuzzi tub. Smith's was my third or forth option because my other choices didn't have openings for the weekend. The technician was friendly and explained the process and what could be causing the backup, which was okay. He did clear the clog and got the water flowing freely again. What I didn't like is that there was no itemized bill, just an amount that was stated and also written out on the paperwork. I'm used to companies listing things out with each cost and including the cost with taxes, etc. Also, the service call as stated over the telephone was $30 higher than the service call on the updated company site. So which charge did I pay? I have no idea since the bill wasn't itemized and the services/charges were not line items. The overall charge for the service that was done seemed very expensive when researched. Most companies even subtract the service call fee from the overall cost but I have no idea if they did (line items?). Even worse, once the clog was cleared, my sink disposal unit had a very bad leak that wasn't there before the service call. There is no way to prove that it was caused by the service but it would have been in good faith if the company had at least offered to install a new one at a nice discount or install one that the customer purchased. The only option given was to have them install a new unit at almost $500. I ended up buying a better model at the hardware store and installing it myself for $150. If businesses haven't learned by now that customer service is key to staying around then they probably don't deserve to be in business. Business owners need to review their policies and make sure that employees understand this as well. read more

I had a great experience with this company. My elderly mom's house had a broken connection at her meter and water was pouring into the street. A technician came out on a Sunday morning and communicated clearly with me about the problem and how much it would cost to fix. He was very professional and put my mind at ease. There was an additional charge since it was the weekend but that was communicated on the front end. After the work was completed, the area was cleaned up and looked good as new. I'd never heard of Smith's Plumbing but when I saw they got a 5 star rating I decided to give them a call. From the office staff who made the appointment to the plumbers they dispatched to my house, all were professional, courteous, very understanding and helpful. My water had turned brown (UGG) and all I envisioned was my floors being jack hammered to find the pipe that in my mind, had to be leaking. I also had a toilet and an outdoor spigot that thought were leaking. When WIll and Brandon arrived they methodically inspected each problem and found all of the underlying causes, (none of which required tearing up my floors) and repaired them quickly, neatly and with obvious advanced expertise and caring. Based upon their findings, they could have really taken advantage of me and told me that I needed much more expensive repairs as I never would have been the wiser, but they were completely honest and saved me a lot of money. Without hesitation, I can honestly say in my 60+ years of living, I've never had such a positive reaction to plumbers or their company. Updated: The owner reached out to me and apologized, saying I never should have been told I would be charged a fee to estimate a large job, they only charge service fees for routine house calls. And he got their receptionist to call me right away to schedule an appointment. I will say that the guy who came to estimate the job was very friendly, knowledgeable, and took the time to explain things to me. In the end, however, their quote was 75% higher than the lowest quote I received from another BBB A+ rated company, so I didn't choose Smith's. I've changed my rating from 1 to 3 stars. I'm sure they are good, but very, very expensive - at least in my case. Original: I have an old house with mostly original plumbing, so after many decades my water pressure is very low. I've called three plumbers to come out and give estimates for replacing the water lines from the meter at the street, into and through the house. Smith's is the only one of the three who wanted to charge a $59 fee just to come out for an estimate! I've never heard of such a thing! so I said "no way!". Estimates are just the cost of doing business - so I'll choose another plumber. His worker, James, came out, inspected the pipes under my house, located the problem and was also able to show me weak spots that would need repair in the future.
