We had good service, the food came out quickly and accurately. Our server was friendly and helpful. This isn't my favorite atmosphere but I don't love sport bars in general. It's bright and they do a great job of decorating the walls with a lot of local sports memorabilia. Our food was good. The firecracker shrimp and blackout burger were our favorites. They had all the football games on on a sunday at noon which was nice for my group of vikings and packer fans. Service was quick and the waitstaff was friendly. The pineapple chunks on the al pastor tacos were huge which made it difficult to eat but it otherwise tasted fine. I would get the Monk's Tacos next time. My group got the sampler platter which had pretzel bites and sausage pieces with beer cheese. The beer cheese and pretzel bites were great but the sausage had a oddly soft consistency. read more

I'm throughly surprised at how good this place was. I came here on a Thursday night around 9pm to watch the rest of the Thursday Night Football game. The staff was super busy but was nice the few times we interacted. They made it a point to continue to check in on me even as they were passing by and dealing with much larger groups which made me feel good. I sat at a table near the bar. There's a few tables in the bar area plus the bar and then a larger dining room area in the back. You can also sit on the patio when it's open. It's well lit but won't blind you. There's tvs everywhere by the bar. There's a QR code and physical menus plus the special menu. Place was pretty clean. Bathrooms were in the back. I ordered two beers. I'm not a beer guy but I'm trying to like it. I had a golden stout. First time ever. And now I'm on the search for it. It was amazing. For food I ordered a burger and it was divine. It has all the fixings from brisket burnt ends with smoked bacon, white cheddar macaroni cheese, fried jalapeno caps, and chipotle BBQ sauce on a toasted charcoal bun. It was delicious. Cost about 16 dollars. And I substituted cheese curds for the fries at no additional cost which is nice. I'd go back for that burger easily. Solid place to kick it and have a chill lowkey night. Monks never disappoints. Went for lunch and the UW Badger BB game. Found a place in the bar area, back corner with huge TV. Place wasn't packed yet, but when the game started not a seat to be found. Started with the Cranberry Mandarin Orange salad with grilled chicken. Wanted to split so asked for a second plate. When it came from the kitchen they had already split it into two servings - really nice touch. Cranberry citrus vinaigrette dressing was the perfect accompaniment. At the half we ordered the Southwest Santa Fe Chicken Rollup with a side of cucumbers and hummus. We ate our way thru the second half and celebrated the win. You can't beat Monks. We stopped by Monk's on a Monday night just to grab a local beer and a little something to snack on -- and ended up staying for 2 hours! We ordered the cheese curds with marinara sauce, the deluxe nachos, and a couple of beers. Everything was absolutely delicious -- like, crazy good. We couldn't decide on which beer to get at first, so they brought us a flight of 3 local favorites to sample -- for free! That was such a nice touch. The staff was super friendly and helpful, giving great recommendations from the menu. It wasn't too crowded since it was a Monday, with most people hanging out at the bar. There were TVs playing sports, and the vibe was casual, fun, and bright -- really cool decor too. This is a local sports bar. Clean. Besides a bar area, there is plenty of seating for large and small groups. Plenty of booths; I like sitting in a booth. Our server was friendly, knowledgeable, attentive, and on point with delivering our food. The cheese curds were very good, not overfried or too breaded. The Alamo burger had everything I wanted in a burger. It was perfectly cooked. It was dripping with flavor. It was loaded with sautéed onions, bacon, and the mozzarella pads. I went to Monk's with a friend. I ordered the Santa Fe Chicken salad. I asked the server if onions were already in the black bean corn salsa because onions sometimes upset my stomach. He said they were I said I order it because how many onions can be in the salsa? When it arrived, it was clear the onions were separate from the salsa and HOLY ONIONS! It was like they added extra onions. I put half the salad in a to go box and picked out as many onions as I could from the half I was eating. Had the other half for lunch and there was even more onion in that half. My friend ordered a cilantro lime rice bowl and that was also loaded with onion. Can we pull back a bit on the onions? Ok, I'll start with the good and end with the bad. Good: The waitress Bad: Everything else If you wonder what the definition of average is, do not go to Monk's. This is way below average food. The boneless chicken wings is CHICKEN MEATBALLS microwaved and then sprinkled with buffalo sauce. No joke, I honestly at least got a laugh out of them. The burgers were so average. We were four people eating, one of us nine year old kid who doesn't know the difference between a steak and a can of ham, and none of us finished out burgers. It was like eating cardboard. Honestly, this - to me - is the epitome of small town life. A sports bar with average food that the locals probably love. Again, everything has to do with preferences - and just because the four of us didn't like it doesn't mean that other people can't. But if you are used to non-chain restaurant microwaved food, stay away from Monk's - or stick to the Miller Light. Just make sure they wash the glass. read more

Visited Monk's for their Harry Potter trivia night on a rainy Sunday evening and had the best time! They accommodated our party of 10 with no problem. Very classically American diner interior that was comfy. Server was attentive and pleasant. I was impressed by their HUGE menu and variety of specials. Whether you want a classic pubburger or are craving pizza, Mac and cheese, tacos, a rice bowl-- they have it all. Will definitely visit this spot again just for a food fix My crispy chicken sandwich was BOMB! Liked it even as a chick fil-a fan. So fresh and flavors blended really well together, I also ordered a side of chipotle aioli to go with my Monk's homemade potato chippers. They were crispy and fresh, though I would've preferred a slightly thicker chip for more potato flavor. Dipped into homemade hummus from a friend, and also yummy! They don't have a drinks menu, or maybe I missed out on it-- walked up to the bar to ask about options, and had Tropical No-jito, with mango puree, strawberry, mint, soda. It was to die for! We had come into town for vacation. Saw this location on Yelp and close to hotel so have it a try. We were very pleased. After a slow start to getting seated as the host was taking a phone order we were served promptly after being seated. Started with a large order of the firecracker shrimp which was very generous in size and tasty. We had a variety of sandwiches to include a few burgers and a club and Reuben. All were very tasty and good sized. Homemade chips come with the meals and are quite good. Got the Reuben to go and it was quickly made at end of the visit. What really made the visit was our server Gabi. She was very friendly and very attentive to us during the visit. Pleasant surprise at time of payment that they offer an extremely generous 20% discount for military. Very much appreciated. Great place for food, drinks and watching a game. The bar has 7 TVs and there are over 10 TVs through out the restaurant area. Excellent bloody Marys, spicy or non with a nice assortment of garnishments. They also have a wide assortment of draft beers. I had a hamburger which was outstanding. A friend had chili that he said was very good as well. AM was the bartender, she did a great job of handling the moon rush. Her service was great. However there was only around 2 waitresses for a group of about 30-40 people, and getting our drinks was slow. The food took around 40-50 minutes to come out, but the food was pretty good. The cheese curds weren't as good as everything else but no one else gets them. I would rate it 4 stars but it took just way to long to get our food/drinks for everyone and if we went to a fast food place it would take like 10-20 minutes. We had 2 servers for our group of over 40 which didn't really make any sense. And the food then proceeded to take 40 minutes to come out with our food which was lukewarm. The temperature of the food had been like it was sitting out for 15-20 minutes. Although this, the food was good. The fries, wings, tacos, and burgers tasted great. Except the cheese curds which were nasty. After the food the manager was then being very pushy in getting us out the door after 15 minutes past closing which I thought was pretty rude. It went downhill from there, but centered on mostly one issue. That being a both with 4 loud guys in it AND very loud music. I guess they get by with it because it is a sports bar.
