I…read morewas interested in getting my girls into swimming classes and was thrilled when I applied for a kiwanis scholarship helping us pay for these classes. Upon our first 2 weeks of lessons, the only complaint I had was how disgusting the place was and how the sauna was broken. I decided to continue the next set of classes in september. I figured it wasn't worth a membership, but that since we would only be there for classes, it was ok. Upon starting the second set of classes on September 9th, my 7 year old encountered getting kicked in the face by a young boy in her class and when I attempted to speak with his guardian, he refused to take out his earphones and another mom there, who spoke spanish translated to him that his grandson was hitting my daughter in the face. I was thankful for that mom. Unfortunately the next day, my daughter was attempting to swim in the pool and the older sister of this young man was grabbing her bathing suit and pushing her underwater. I told her to keep her hands to herself. I figured that was that...well I was wrong... The next day she was blocking my daughter from swimming and upon seeing this, I approached her and told her she needed to stop or I would speak with her grandfather, she told me "Go ahead!" She began to follow me around the facility and then she followed us into the locker room. I had enough and told one of the lifeguards there on duty that I was being stalked by some little kid and didn't want to interact with her, thankfully the lifeguard caught her and I also explained everything that had been going on to a male lifeguard, who asked me to point out the little girl and he went on to speak with her grandfather. The next 2 days were bliss, because they weren't there! However on our last day of swim lessons they were there and the young lady threatened my 7 year old "If she didn't want to get hurt, she needed to leave the pool". I informed the lifeguards again and said if this happens anymore I will call the police. Obviously if their parent's actually cared, their children wouldn't be doing this type of sick bullying and gang behavior. If I want my children to learn how to swim I'll go to a city where there aren't degenerate criminal children. We won't ever be back.

The beach area is covered with lots of trees from large trees, there is plenty of room to picnic (grills available), a snack bar, restrooms, playground and lake access. This beach is closed to everyone except those that live within the boundaries of a Lake Grove School District. Fortunately I have friends who live on the canal and I'm invited out often for boat rides and to anchor and swim in the swimming hole by this beach. Water is surprisingly warmer than I ever predict, but still a cool and refreshing 77 which feels awesome on a hot summer day. This summer, 2020, we enjoyed many pop-up concerts where the band performed on a barge. Missing all the concert and movies in the park, this was a welcomed way to enjoy summer while being socially distanced. My favorite day is July 4th when the town of Lake O lights fireworks over the lake. This is open to anyone, but obviously it's super crowded so if you plan on watching from the beach, get there super early! We watch from the boat, anchoring and tying up with other boats, and then enjoy the magnificent display of fireworks and their reflection on the water while sipping wine, enjoying snacks and great conversation. It's one of my favorite nights of the year! Sadly, the fireworks were cancelled in 2020, along with most everything, but I still spent several heavenly days and evenings on the lake.

I enjoy swimming and Cascade has the best pool in the area so participation here is a matter of limited selection. My problem is the lack of policy/signs/refereeing something that keeps inconsiderate lane swimmers in line. Cascade has no posted policy or signs that direct how people should behave when there are others waiting for a lane. Since there are numerous older adults that seem to have developed blindness because they don't 'see' people waiting nor do they ask anyone. Instead, they see someone getting out of the pool and head directly to the lane that just opened up simply not caring that others are waiting. Most people seem to want to avoid conflict so nothing gets said empowering those who are already feel privileged enough to just jump in. Then there's me. I will say something and I might not be nice about it because your rudeness put you in my path. So, lane cutters if you can't turn to those waiting and ask then expect to get called out or for me to jump in 'your' lane. I simply won't stand for your rude behavior or whatever excuse you have for being like you are. As for Cascade - this on you. You have no policy, no guidance and no monitoring leaving us adults to police themselves. Fortunately, most do an exceptional job of policing themselves and have decency and courtesy. However, there are some that don't possess decency and probably have limited self-control when confronted about their behavior that could lead to an altercation between parties. If this were to happen to me you can bet that I would seeing you in court... And, while you are pondering this matter please scrub the pool! It's filthy. The walls and floor of the pool are coated in brown slime that cause slip when trying to push off. P.S. this also applies to those that are in a lane and invite someone that just shows up to join them instead of the next person in line as it should be. Friends don't get a free pass to the head of the line.
