I've been a member for a month now and I'm super happy with the place. Friendly atmosphere in a well equipped facility. It never feels busy or too crowded. The gym has everything I need and most of the time available too. No wait for equipment. There are two pools to swim laps. Jacuzzi, updated steam room, and the sauna are all clean and well maintained. The tennis club next door is pretty cool too with number of courts and programs. Would leave 4.5 stars if I could. Look to Google for accurate club hours, as of this review they are open until 7PM on weekends and 9PM on weekdays. Best sauna in town. Could use a more user friendly way to check in at the front desk such as a membership card scan or something. I enjoy the nice variety of weight machines and studio space upstairs for workouts, and lap swim which is nice and open in the evening. This is one terrific athletic club. I've been a member for many years. This place has easy access, plenty of parking, and a highly qualified staff. The equipment is maintained, clean, and meets my fitness needs. I particularly want to give a recommendation for Joe Martines and his massage expertise. This man knows his stuff when it comes to meeting the needs of his clients. I have never felt so good as I do after a massage with Joe. I swear I feel 20 years younger after my sessions with him. I ended my membership today. As a retired public health professional, I'm being very careful about exposure to Covid19; better to be safe than sorry. The facility has signs up that say masks are required. However, many of the people who work out in the gym area wear their masks below their nose. Is it a fashion thing? Of 6 in the area today, 3 were wearing masks below their nose, and 1 was wearing a face shield (also unsafe, but allowed by the State of Oregon). The staff is not allowed to say anything to those members, not even as benign as "could you pull your mask over your nose?". I'd spoken with Kyle, the General Manager, about this, and he told me they are meeting the Oregon requirement, and that he recognizes, as a business, they're in a difficult situation. He says they're relying on the members to "be responsible". I don't want to be unfair, but I want to limit my exposure to others' bodily fluids, and if over half the members are unwilling to do the right thing, I can find a place that holds a higher standard. Oregon says in their law that businesses may set a stricter requirement. There are other places in town that recognize that gyms are inherently less safe and are willing to do that. read more

This is a huge club! The staff I interacted with were great. The biggest issue I have with this gym is that kids are able to run around, use the equipment, share the same locker. I was changing one day and a boy about 5 years old sat down at the bench I was at. I was naked!! Never been more horrified. I would've been more inclined to go back if there wasn't kids all over the place. I waited a long time to be an adult and have the same privileges as a "grown up" .. It's ok. The facility looks pretty dated but the equipment seems up to date (I'm no expert). Shampoo, conditioner, body wash and lotion are provided in the locker room. A fair amount of hair is also provided on the floor. If you have kids the summer-only outdoor pools include a warm (kiddie) and a cold (lap) pool. Indoors also has a warm pool but the hours are terrible for little kids: under 8 years old can only swim from 530-830 MWF (ie when you are having dinner and putting them to bed, so never) and 10-3 on weekends. The indoor lap pool never allows kids under 8. One big plus: Childcare is provided on site! read more

First impressions matter folks. Despite the negative reviews, I decided to check out Timberhill anyway. As I pull in the first thing I notice is an old, dilapidated parking lot and a building that looks like it has not been painted since 1993. I walked in the front door and was greeted by two polite young men. I said that I was here to look at the club and get membership information. I was told that nobody would be available to help me for about an hour but that I was welcome to wait. Really? There are two of you doing absolutely nothing. I chuckled a little because I thought they were kidding. Apparently, they are not in the "membership dept."? No "any questions I can answer for you?" No "would you like a brochure?" I've been to Timberhill numerous times, it's a busy family oriented locally owned place. It's a bit of a mash-up, it is dated, cluttered, there is no unifying vision and doesn't have great equipment (but maybe did in 1992?). For what you get it's over priced and difficult to get into (it takes a lot of time and energy to go from your vehicle to working out - it's an ordeal). The upstairs is divvy and dated, dark and muggy (I do 98% of my workout in this area and found it to be uncomfortable). This "club" is sort of like a dude with a mustash and tank top driving a 1987 Corvette today -- possibly cool for 1987, but sort of laughable today.That dude and Timberhill is living off of a very good year they had a long time ago. They have Racquet ball. Racquet ball is just to dated, novelty, noisy and inane to take serious. They dedicate a lot of space and comprise the comfort of a lot of members in order to have it. It's a major con for me. Timberhill seems to be still benefiting from there not being any better place in town, even though they likely are not the best place in town. I'll give it two stars - it would be great for kids and special events but as a person who loves convenient cardio it just does not cut it for the price. I would give it a better rating it were a better value. read more

I really tried to like Timberhill in many ways. My family and I were members for about 8 months. We tried numerous classes, worked out in the main areas, and also experienced the pools and racquetball courts. The previous reviews are right in that the place is dated...and not in a good way. There are little "extras" like hair dryers, lotion, magazines in the main workout area, etc. But overall the place is somewhat dingy, and very tired. The staff is okay. None of them are mean, but some seem unprofessional and almost gossipy. I should also mention, some of the staff is very good. It all came down to the fact that my family and I didn't feel like we were getting our money's worth, and we didn't feel happy while we were there. As I said, we really wanted to like the place, and feel like we gave it a fair chance. In the end we decided to move on from Timberhill. read more

Timberhill is warm and welcoming. They used their time during COVID when they were closed to update and remodel locker rooms and spa area. I love the water aerobics. I feel very comfortable there and not on display as I have at some gyms. They have a great selection of classes which I am looking forward to trying as my fitness increases. I'm a member of TAC, and I work out here about 4 days a week. The staff have always been responsive and helpful when I've needed their assistance or had questions. They've got everything you need and more. I only use a fraction of what they offer, and this is what I'm familiar with: A wide selection of machines, and free weights. They are occasionally filled up, at very predictable days and times, but there's never the kind of wait that I've seen at other gyms. They've expanded and added machines over time, and definitely seem to be trying to stay ahead of the need. Several rooms dedicated to spinning classes, dance classes (fitness, as well as ballroom dancing), and a wide variety of other fitness classes. There is a full schedule of group fitness and swimming classes, along with the occasional offerings of nutrition classes and other fitness/nutrition general interest classes. You can get a massage and facial on-site! Three pools (including the new one outside); two Jacuzzis; saunas located in the locker rooms, and a coed sauna near the lap pool. Basketball courts, and racquetball courts, and regularly scheduled tournaments going on for both. Finished a tough workout and need fuel? They've got that too. Have a smoothie while you use their free WiFi. TAC is also located at the foot of a nice network of trails near Chip Ross Park. I mention this because I've found it's easy to pair a mountain bike ride or hike with classes at the gym, Jacuzzi or sauna, massage or facial, smoothies or bars, working on the WiFi ... they've done all they can to make fitness part of a lifestyle. I'm giving Timberhill five stars, because the only flaw I have really noticed isn't that big of a deal. Occasionally the staff will be off in groups chatting and it takes some time to get their attention. All in all, this is the only club in Corvallis that I would want to be a member of. I have been going here since I was little with my parents (and even went to the day care a few times when I was young)... They have a wide selection of machines and very rarely am I unable to use the machine that I need to. The weight room is well set up and the basketball court is spacious enough for whoever wants to play. The pools are great, especially with the newly added outdoor pool. It was one of my favorite places to spend the days this past summer. I would highly recommend it if you have a little extra to spend on a nicer gym. read more

The staff is great, the facility is very nice and the trainers are top notch! It has a great Raquette ball league with a great director in Rob Durbin. The basketball league has potential but needs to get the referees to buy into the idea that this an entertainment experience where the players get to compete without the interference of an official. My family joined Timberhill in 1988, just after moving to Corvallis. We were members for over 25 years, mainly due to my dedication to a dance class. I never found it to be very clean. It seems the previous owner didn't feel inclined to hire a professional cleaning staff which is extremely necessary for a large gym. I understand from a friend who teaches there that it hasn't improved with the new owners. There's more emphasis on new TV's etc. than in providing a clean safe environment in which to exercise. This is the "Hotel California" of all gyms - not only do they have a really equipped establishment (which is not the bad thing at all), but they are overpriced. The comparison is most notable for the part of the song where it says "you can check out any time you like, but you can never leave." They keep charging you even AFTER you have cancelled your membership. They have a very savvy way of telling you "the cancellation will occur at the end of the month AFTER you have cancelled," so you essentially end up donating your money to the gym for a whole month after you've decided you're done. And, I must reiterate, it is NOT CHEAP. I'm a college student with a college student who got her money essentially stolen by this place. And this goes without mentioning that they let a kid drown this past summer. When I say "let," I mean they LET a child drown. On the first day of summer camp. No thanks. read more
