This company completed an oil change on my mothers car and used 2 crush rings on the drain. Also they did not tighten the oil filter enough and had oil leaking all over the place. The manager will do nothing to compensate her. SHES 78 YEARS OLD. What a joke of a company. They will never get my business or anyone else I know that for sure. Okay so: I called for a quote after I had two tires go and the shop I had it towed to was too busy to help. Luckily the gentleman on the phone told me they could squeeze me in the next day and gave a quote which was more cost effective than the previous shop anyway! I had the vehicle re-towed to their shop. Thats when things went wrong. It was supposed to be completed by the end of that day which was fine as I work at night so I could pick it up before work. They could lock they keys in it and I could use my spare. When I arrived that evening after the shop had closed, I was shocked to see my GMC Terrain still inside! I had to cab last minute to work from Stony Plain Road to the airport. The next day I found that my "all in price" actually did NOT include balancing OR install. That was going to be extra. They made a mistake on the phone. They didn't get the car done because they had ran out of time. They didn't call me because they forgot? When I picked up the vehicle I was angry and got out of there quick. I HAD FAILED TO NOTICE THAT TWO OF MY TIRES WERE INSTALLED BACKWARDS! Amazing staff! Chelsea was very understanding of my situation. My truck got broken into, I dropped it off and they order the parts I needed. Unfortunately my father passed away a week later. They let me take the time to figured out what I was doing with the truck. They even helped me put in a new battery in my dads car. BEWARE THIS SHOP! Monday April 18th 2022 I brought my tire to midas to be repaired. They didn't have time to fix it that day so told me if I removed it from the car and left it there they would fix it and I could pick up that week. I got a call the next day from a lady. my tire was ready for pickup and had 2 holes repaired. They didn't have time to put the tire on but could make an appointment if I chose to get them to install it. I had her make an appointment for Monday April 25th 2022 at 1pm. I arrived April 25th 2022 at 12:55pm I was helped by a jason. Jason said my tire was ready but he didn't have me booked. He called the lady that made the appt from the back room when I showed him a had a conformation email and said now he had to fit me in with all the other angry customers and that he was angry that I needed it installed. I was fine waiting. At 1:08pm he told me to come have a look at my tire that they have now had in their possession since April 18th... it all of a sudden it was flat and couldn't be installed. He told me there was now a third puncture at the shoulder of the tire and it couldn't be repaired.  I asked how there was a third puncture when my tire has been ready for pickup for almost a week! I was told too bad that they must have missed the puncture and that I now had to buy a new tire If my tire was ready for pickup for 6 days sitting in their store and I was just waiting for an appointment to have them install it how did it all of a sudden have another puncture? I was told Andre the mechanic did the repairs and I asked if I could talk to him at first I was told no but I pressed the issue and was told that he would come talk to me. Andre came out and I asked if there was a third puncture on the tire when he repaired it. He told me there was not. That there were only 2 punctures and both had been repaired and he did a soap test afterwards to make sure that the tire was fixed. I asked Jason to please explain how my tire got damaged in their care. He started yelling and saying I was causing trouble and they wouldnt do anything for me. He kept saying he was not going to buy me a new tire. These tires are only 1.5 years old. They were installed by midas when they were brand new. They still have 10/32 wear. I asked to speak with the boss. Herb came out and stated that he would get me a tire. I was upset that it would not match the other 3 tires but finally agreed to it after being told it didn't matter that it didn't match. He wrote me a quote for almost 300 dollars and told me thats the best he could do I would have to buy a tire and he would throw in the installation...(I found out later on that it absolutly does matter that the tire doesn't match as it can cause issues because I have an awd vehicle all 4 tires must match to be safe so what he offered me was making my car unsafe!) I was not paying 300 dollars for something that happened in their shop under their care... I asked to speak to the owner Mike who I seen was in the shop and they kept saying no they wouldn't let me talk to him. Finally after pressing Mike came out by chance and I introduced myself and asked if I could talk to him. I was told by Mike that thats the best they can do and too bad for me... I offered to split the difference because I wanted to just get on with my day but they wouldn't even cover half the cost of the new tire they wanted me to buy...(even though this would have made my car unsafe to drive because the treads don't match as it is an awd vehicle!) After speaking with multiple shops no shop will only replace 1 tire on an awd vehicle as it is not safe and the tires I have (kuhmo solus ha31) have been discontinued by the manufacturer so I can't just buy 1 tire. I had to end up paying out of pocket almost 1000 dollars for 4 new tires (kuhmo ha32 the new model of the ones i had) plus i had to pay for mount and balance at another shop (I wasn't going back to that store after being treated that way. I am almost 70 years old and on oxygen with a heart issue I did not need nor deserve to be yelled at and treated that way by these men)... all this because Midas damaged my tire beyond repair while in their care and wouldn't help rectify the problem. read more

I am angry and frustrated with JLF Enterprises (Midas Edmonton). I had an issue with a manager at the 50 St &130ave store. I have been waiting for an area/general manager to speak with me regarding this situation. it is almost 3weeks since my original complaint. My complaint is the manager did not price out the service I wanted when he called me there was no mention of the part I wanted installed and a laundry list of services wanting approval including replacement of a hose that was unnecessary. Got my oil change here and prolly won't be back. They were into nickel and diming me which isn't cool. When I take my car in, I expect to be treated with respect and care. There were several things that were "overlooked" like a broken line and the service light, which luckily I knew how to turn off as I drove away. I felt like they did the bare minimum. Called and asked how much to put fronts brakes on my car .They quoted me around $249 , took my car there the next morning, Around an hour after I dropped off my call Herb called me and advised me my car also needed rotors. I asked how much would the repair cost and he said $1600 plus. I advised him that I will pickup my car as the repair was too high.When I picked up my car I asked Herb why so expensive? He told me he called Mercedes on the west end and the rotors were $549 each plus brake pads and labour would be $1600 plus. What Midas didn't know is I already had quote from the Mercedes dealer for a total cost of $970 including taxes . I called the Mercedes dealer and asked how much were the rotors and the told me they were $189 each . Mercedes also told me they only have one style of rotor for my car. Now I understand there is some Mark up on parts , but 1098 vs 378 from the dealer! That's a huge markup.Think twice before taking your vehicle to this place! I took my vehicle to another mechanic shop in Edmonton and they charged me $219 for each rotor .Be careful read more

My experience here was terrible. I brought my 5-year-old well cared for car in for new brake pads, which was supposed to take a few hours on a Saturday afternoon, and I got multiple calls throughout the day telling me more and more things were wrong with my vehicle (the charges kept going up and up and up). I'm not a car expert and I'm very aware that some mechanics see dollar signs when a young female walks in to the shop. Some of the things they were saying my car needed done were either things I could do myself or things that had just recently been taken care of at another shop. They then called to say they had ordered the wrong part (even though I provided the make and model of my car beforehand) and they couldn't get the work done that day, and it would be ready for Monday. On Monday afternoon I asked that they provide a shuttle to pick me up from work, and was told they didn't do that. So I took a cab - a further expense. When it came to paying for the work they had done, I asked if they were going to give me some kind of discount for keeping my car all weekend and forcing me to ask for rides/take cabs. The guy working at the front desk had the audacity to offer me an oil change stamp card with the first few already stamped - so I would have to pay for two oil changes before getting a free one. Seriously?? That's not a discount, that's me spending even more money there! I was so furious. Every interaction I had here was dripping with condescension and I ended up spending hundreds of dollars more than I expected to - maybe all of the charges were for things my car legitimately needed, but based on the attitudes of the employees I spoke with, I have some doubts. read more

The service I received at this location was excellent. They were able to fit me in within an hour on a very snowy, cold day. They were unable to patch a bad tire but replaced it the same day. The whole process took about 2 hours. When I called back to ask if they would be willing to price match a cheaper offer from another location, they obliged and saved me $20. My entire experience from start to finish was with friendly, personable staff who answered the phone with a smile and responded to my questions with patience and good humour. The only negative aspect was with the cost of a front light; almost $40 for parts and labour for something I can do myself. But that's the way with most auto shops. If you want cheap maintenance, find a backyard mechanic and buy the parts yourself. read more

Staff are helpful, polite, and honest. They give options depending on what you prefer- quality or cost. They recommend repairs, but don't scare you so you will be forced to have it done even if you can still safely drive your vehicle until the next appointment. This Midas gets the luxury of 2 stars only because they didn't make excuses or blame me for why they had my car all day but never did anything with it. Yes, they had my car from 8 am until 5 pm and never touched it. I had an appointment for them to work on my car. He did say a technician called in sick once, which is fine because shit happens, but he did not say that over and over and over again. He knew they Fed up. But Im used to businesses blaming me for their incompetence, where this Midas location did not. I expressed my annoyance and Jason took it. He acknowledged it was annoying that my car was not fixed. It was supposed to be a 5 hour job for my car so I asked Jason if by noon he knew he wouldn't be getting to me car, and he said yes. I called me at 4:45 to ask what time they closed, at which time Jason told me my car wasn't touched, and of course, there would be no charges. Well thank you very much for having my car all day and not charging me. I reiterate, the only reason this business is getting two stars is because Jason took my annoyance quite well. Spent $1100 for them to create more problems with my car, found out they used shoddy after-market parts that had to be replaced less than 4 months later, and would not give a refund even when presented with the crappy broken parts they had installed mere months earlier. To whom it may concern, This is coming from the desk of a relatively high-spend and repeat customer. A customer who generally speaking has been trouble free, never complained about timing, and been satisfied, up until now, with the effective and trouble free service received from this Midas location. Up until now. My last experience has been a lesson in perhaps placing a little too much trust in the process. On or about May the first, I contacted your assistant manager, Rick, to get a quote for a relatively straightforward rotor and pad swap on my 1991 Chevrolet Sprint Turbo. A vehicle I have been driving for some time, and working on getting roadworthy in conjunction with your location. Some work I have completed on my own, and other work I have had done with Midas. This is not the first vehicle I have brought to your location, but will likely be the last. The telephone quote for a brake flush and pad/rotor swap with customer supplied parts was roughly 200 dollars. At the midpoint of the operation, Rick informed me that he had a 'Mitchell problem" and that he quoted me incorrectly, based upon the information available to him. It is at this point that I reference common knowledge on this vehicle and platform. Every Metro/Swift/Sprint/Firefly from inception in 1988 to the end of the brand in roughly 2000 has employed a bearing on rotor design, excepting cabriolet models. While I do not expect immaculate knowledge of every product, I expect a service advisor to do the proper research before issuing a quote, this is not a high end vehicle and they made more of them than loaves of bread in the 90's. Blaming this on Mitchell or Alldata is laughable as Mitchell is a pretty comprehensive suite with very reasonable data. The quote rose from 200 with flush to a completion invoice of over 400 dollars (which I was not informed about until the time came to pay), this along with the line at the midpoint of the operation from Rick "Oh, it should just be a little bit more". Yes, 200 dollars more. Twice the quoted cost without a flush (More on that in the next line) apparently is "A little more". To add insult to injury, the technician called Calipers as well, bumping the invoice cost to over 800 dollars. This from an original quote of 200. More on the calipers to follow. Upon review of the invoice, which I paid begrudgingly once the caliper lines were removed, additional erroneous line items were present for parts that were not used in the operation. The technician who completed the work indicated that he could not complete the flush due to a bleeder screw being seized, yet I was charged for brake fluid. Upon noting this, Jason, the management trainee, removed the charge and issued a refund. Nonetheless, why was it on there? Who reviewed this before issuing the charges? None of this comes close to the major source of irritation. I brought my vehicle to your location in a functional condition. The brakes worked quite well, stopped straight and true, but I was concerned that a vented non-drilled rotor and standard pads would have trouble dissipating heat associated with greater stopping loads on a 6.8% larger diameter wheel. Thus, I ordered proper replacement drilled rotors and a better set of pads. Your location installed them. The tech completed the work, and took the car for a drive before handing it off to me. He indicated *everything* was good except that he had trouble retracting one caliper piston, something I find to be a concern. My brakes worked quite well and the pad material on the ones that came off were equal in wear to the new pads that went on. I repeat, the technician indicated to me that things were good when he handed the vehicle off. I took the vehicle down Stony Plain Road, north on 163rd to 107 ave, and over to 150st and 105 ave. By the time I got there, my driver's front brake assembly was so hot it was smoking. I burnt my finger on the rotor and melted plastic on it ten minutes after parking. This from a simple low speed drive with minimal driving. My previously healthy caliper is now seized because of the workmanship associated with a simple pad swap. Insult to injury: your technician drove this vehicle and straight faced handed it off to me indicating that things were ok. I was given an unsafe vehicle to drive with no warning. And, I say healthy in that I experienced no brake fade, never had drag, and had proper float distance. I know that the new rotors and pads are in spec for my vehicle because the passenger front is working fine and not subject to the same drag. And now I am booked in for another 480 dollar service due to what should have been a simple operation. I am on the hook for replacing calipers that had no issue before the work was completed. Also of note, during previous visits with this vehicle no problems were ever indicated with the braking system. Midas does do checks on every visit, or so I'm told. read more
