Oil Change was twice the price advertised. Would not honor the price. Definitely felt like a cash trap. I wont be back.

I had an appointment for an inspection, but when I showed up in the afternoon for it he said that they had a sick call in the morning and no one to do it. I told them I had received 2 texts confirming my appointment, one that morning, but he brushed it off saying that's automated. Unapologetic. No one else tried to contact me. He said I could go to a different location in 2 hours, which I couldn't make. I had arranged my day around this appointment Including childcare. Had rear engine seals replaced and next oil change same area was leaking so they replaced seals again. During warrantee they didn't re-attach a bleed off line or plugs that was pointed out my next oil change and same area was leaking. Took it in for the 3ed time and was told my oil cooler was the issue. I'm positive they misdiagnosed the leak do to same oil levels have been missing each oil change and same area is leaking. Was charged just over $1,800.00 for substandard work with the end result being the exact same as before I had them work on my jeep. Also was quoted $1400 for replacement part and called around and all in $800 to $1000 from other mechanics. My advice is shop around and don't go to Midas. They will misdiagnose and are over priced with low quantity workmanship and that's the most positive way I can say they will scam you. read more

Needed an oil change on visit to Edmonton. Very busy day, but Steve, Manager, got me in within few hours of request. Oil change rate most reasonable in city( except for 1 place , completely across town). I also needed a new air filter. Steve worked out a deal that had me only paying for oil change. Much appreciated. Did receive some recommendations I questioned, so checked with dealership in home town. Not needed as emergency, but better safe than sorry! Have only needed oil change on vehicles, and service good/ timely. Get quote, then check with dealership re extensive repairs BEFORE authorizing, to be certain vehicle recommendations are essential. 7120 Whyte Ave NW Location: If I could give 0 starts I would. Do not take your car to these scammers. I took my car in to have a flat tire repaired I dropped off my car and returned to get it 4 hours later and was told the tire was unrepairable and that my tires were past the allowable manufactures date and all 4 tires would need to be replaced. So I purchased 4 brand new tires for $600 from midas because I was told they had great warranty on them and made an appointment to have them put on. Again I dropped my car off and after a few hours I received a call from the manager at Midas stating they had done a full inspection of my car and found that my brake pads needed to be replaced and quoted me around $1100 to have that done even though I had not asked for a full inspection. When I returned to pick my car up 4 hours later my car still wasn't done and I had to wait an additional hour. When I asked to see the inspection report I was sent an online report that didn't include pictures or information to show the degree of wear on the brake pads. I declined that service and asked that they just put on the new tires. After picking up my car I noticed that all 4 tires kept loosing air so I took my car back and spoke to shop manager who said she would have the guy redo the bead on the tires again. When I picked up my car for the second time the shop manager's commented to me sorry for the error but you know when they have to do things twice they learn better lol. Like seriously!!! Great customer service there. I realized after picking my car up for the 2nd time that the tires were still loosing air and the new valve stems they put on 2 of my tires were to short and did not stick out past my hub cap. Called Midas again and asked to speak to the department manager person on phone took my contact info and said I would receive a call back. Two weeks later and still no call back from Midas so I had to take my car to another shop who had to redo the bead around all 4 tires again which cost me an additional $120. This shop has the worst customer service and must pride itself on ripping their customers off when their incompetent workers can't do the job right. I will NEVER take my car back to these scammers again. read more

The one that's signing his paycheck. 2nd to first comment AFTER I GO OUTSIDE Get call from work. NOT happy not there when I AM. Woman comes out. "Hope you had better service than me", I said. MO wanting James to call the police because I am NOT allowed in service area when told I could sit in car while being serviced. Car is DONE so they say. Won't let me now take car out. Some unknown name trying to talk. MO comes back and forth calling me a "F_____" crazy lady. Still won't let me take car. Cops coming. NOW. Could lose MY job due to MO. I will never go to a different mechanic again. This experience has changed my entire opinion on Midas. I have to say, the first time I went a year ago, I wasn't totally impressed, and was skeptical of going back. I will now recommend this place to my friends and family and everyone else. I cannot thank you enough. The kindness, empathy, honesty and compassion you showed is something I will never forget. Theo Saravanamuthu, you need to represent this entire company. Theo went above and beyond with us. We came in for a peace of mind inspection for a car we had just purchased off marketplace. Turns out the car was basically a complete write off and we got ripped off. We were not in a good place at all mentally and with this economy and now this loss, financially. Theo went above and beyond and shared his compassion. He was open and honest and showed us his true heart. He gave us great advice, and tips that were incredibly helpful. In addition, he covered the cost of our inspection, given our situation. When we can afford to pay it back, we will in anyway we can. Braden Hughes has been amazing to me for his customer service and he is the reason I keep coming back. Very personable and answers all my questions when asked. I love how Midas prices are the cheapest I can find for oil changes and I've never had a problem booking an appointment promptly. The call centre said I could bring my truck in no problem but when the location called me and told me my truck is pretty big for them to work on - they made it work anyway. I love the deals they had given me before Christmas and that alone saved me tons of money!! Really appreciate their work and have never had an issue. read more

Honest moment: I don't know anything about cars. I mean, I'm a good driver (I think) and I know all of the laws and all about driving etiquette, but if you opened up the hood of my car, I couldn't tell you what was what. Flat tire? Call 911. My husband recommended we get an oil change. I didn't understand why you would need to change the oil, but OK. Whatever. Apparently it's something you need to do, and we hadn't had the oil changed since we bought the car last year. I dropped him off at work and he sent me on my way to Midas on Calgary Trail. They open at 7:30 AM, which is huge for people with crazy schedules like us. I drove around back as they instructed me and waited for my turn in the pit. They only work on one car at a time for things like that, and I didn't know how long the car in front of me was going to take, which was annoying. I ended up sitting in my car for about 30 minutes when they opened up the garage door. They did a full winter package, which included the oil change and a bunch of other things I'm sure are really important, and it was only about $40, which apparently is a good price. I hung out in the lobby, which included FREE WI-FI (That's MAJOR!) and FREE COFFEE. Done. So impressed. After it was all over, which took about 45 minutes, they brought me a sheet with checkmarks showing green, orange, or red lights on a whole series of inspection points. The Rookie, as our car is affectionately known, passed with flying colours. Atta boy! I would definitely bring my baby back here for its next check-up! read more

if I could give these scammers zero stars i would ! My 17 year old son brought his first car there - 2008 Audi S4 for inspection as something felt wrong - like a misfire. They guaranteed us that they know how to service Audi's and after "diagnosing" the problem we were told all it needs is a engine clean and flush and 8 new sparks ! They also suggested to get 2 new tires, new rear brakes and fe other things and that after the $3000 quoted the car will work like new (Literally their words) ! Well $3k later the misfire issue was not fixed. Brought it back and we were told they now we need two new 02 sensors. $1400 later main misfire issue still not fixed. So we asked them to do whatever they need to get this car fixed as they promised the first time - but we are not paying anything more. They brought it to a different MIDAS location only to be told that now we need 8 new coils and 8 new fuel injectors for "just" $3700 !!!! Well I lost it at that point and reached the regional manager who bluntly told me they have not done anything wrong and they don't scam people and after a heated argument we were told to pick up the car and not to come to any MIDAS location. Great ! So we called MIDAS headquarters in California and they created a case number and someone would call us in a week. 3 weeks later we hd to call again and were told someone will call us in a week. 2 months later we called and our case was closed ! :-) Nobody helped us with anything ! So we brought the Audi to an Audi expert. 1 hour later after doing a compression test we were told valve #7 has very low compression - a simple test that cost $200 that MIDAS never did and does not have the equipment to test ! In other words we were lied to from the very beginning and were swindled into spending $4400 and wanting another $3700 that would absolutely no fix the problem. As a matter of fact the car needed a new engine which we could not afford. So my son not only lost $7000 for buying the car but another $4400 that MIDAS gladly took from him. Now talk about your first car experience ! We took it to AMVIC to help u s get money back from MIDAS and waiting to hear from them. So STAY AWAY from MIDAS - period ! They are scammers to tell you anything to make a sale and then tell you they have done nothing wrong! End of rumble... ! read more

I dropped my car for AC repair at 3408 98 Street Midas location. They misdiagnosed my car with a leaking condenser and charged $996 for a replacement and recharge. The AC was still not working correctly and when I took it back in a couple weeks later they claim that there is another leaky hose. Dishonest service and they are recommending replace the pipe and recharge the system for the third time. Horrible location - service manager's name was Brian. read more

The worst experience ever.... 2 months ago I put a 100 dollar deposits down for 4, brand new, all season tires. I go for my appointment, spend over 2 hours there and than "Moira" tells me I get tires ore the wrong size ! Blah blah. Keep in mind, my appoint was booked a month before hand .. they had ample time to recorrect there mistake.. Fast forward ... covid happens. I am a health care worker and self isolation was put into practice... During the visit and given the bad news, Moira, the manager of the establishment, insured me that the tires would be re-ordered and that the price would be cheaper since they order too big of size anyway. I had called them twice now to see when I can come back to get my tires .. and every single time I'm getting the run-around.. also I'm now having to pay over 400 dollars for the tires ?? The price I was quoted before when the tires were too big, didn't even cost 400 dollars !! Plus I already paid a partial deposit! I had been planning to get my brakes done for quite sometime. I had heard that it is a real hassle getting them done because wherever you take your car, they will try and milk you for all you're worth. I went on to get a rough estimate of what it would cost to get them done. I walked in and the service was amazing. The gentleman who helped me was really knowledgable and gave me a no bs price. He even shaved some off where he could! I had been planning to go out of town for the weekend, so I was just going to get the estimate and get the breaks done when I had the time to actually wait to have them done. I mentioned this to the gentleman, and he responded by asking when I needed my car back. He rushed all the parts, and called me over an hour before the time he gave me! I would seriously go there again and would recommend this place to anybody who needs work done on their car! read more

The front desk guy was nice and friendly. The service was very slow though. They were half an hour late with my appointment. When I have places to be, a late appointment isn't ideal. *update* after waiting half an hour extra for my appointment, they ran over half an hour late for my service estimate time. While normally I wouldn't have an issue, it's about an hour later than my original estimate, and as a result, I was late for work which I am incredibly disappointed with. While the staff seems friendly and kind, the service leaves a lot to be desired. *one last update* the staff took notice of the inconveniences and covered the cost of my change. So they took responsibility and took the initiative to correct it which was greatly appreciated. I would return to the location, but schedule earlier to prepare for any delays. read more

The muffer on my Rav4 started making a lot of noise, so I took is to this Midas for an inspection and estimate. I was told it was rusted with holes in it and would have been replaced along with the resonator. The quote was nearly $1300. Thinking the quote was high I took my car to another auto shop and was told the muffler was was in excellent shape and that a short pipe just needed to be replaced and welded on. The cost was $150. Now the muffler's in perfect working condition. Not happy to have been so outrageously lied to! Definitely will not be recommending that Midas shop!!! read more

be careful with they guys they are greasy. My girlfriend dropped my car off for me they changed the battery, wiper blades, plugs and wires. All of which I had one the month before. BIG MISTAKE to visit Midas! My car brake failed suddenly one day. Since, I was new in Edmonton and didn't know a lot of people and specially automatic mechanic shop. Unfortunately, I went to MYDAS who charged me 855$ and the worst experience of my life. Background! While handing over my car, I asked several time the shop lead sales person, please let me know before hand how much it's gonna cost, the guy told, we have to do inspection which would cost 40$ and then would let you know. I said fine. "Inspection." it was nothing, the guy in front of my eyes just drove my vehicle from one corner to other corner and couldn't tell me the actual scope of work, so he mentioned he had to open all Tyres. After opening he told me the front brake disk has been worn out and broken into halves, and new parts have to be ordered and then he can only tell me the actual price., I said ok. After spending 1.5 hr the guy comes and informs me that the parts came were wrong, and it is 6 pm already I have to leave my vehicle and come next day to pick it up. Since, I had an urgent work to do nevertheless I said ok. The next morning, he called me and said the car is fine and asks me to come to pick it up and asks me to do brake fluid flush. Upon my arrival, he gives me the bill of 855$ for brakes replacement including liquid flush, parts replacement and labour charge. It seems Midas labour is constructing or rebuilding the things they charges me hell of the money. The labour charge was 135 $ each, and in total 540$ for labor charge alone and parts cost were 270$. And the worst part at the end, along with the invoice the guy gave me inspection (Red Orange colored) part of a different vehicle. I mean is this service Midas provide? I am a student, and could not bear to spend 855$ on a 2000$ vehicle. It was a nightmare for me, I told him at-least you could have informed me how much it is gonna cost me in total. I could have done a cheap way and temporary repair from somewhere else, he said It is what it is. I am really surprised how such repair shops are costing people that much money. I am literally broken as didn't have a job and am studding and had to pay that much bill just for brakes, these guys should seriously understand the customer situation up front and please stop looting people. =I would say ====MIDAS==== NOT RECOMMENDED=============== read more

A very simple exhaust modification took over 2.5 hours. 1.5 hours was of my truck sitting in the parking lot, even though I had an appointment. 1/2 hour of that was waiting for them to get organized enough to take my money. I bought my tires and rims from Midas in May 2020 and left my original Kia factory rims at the shop because I was going to buy winter tires for those rims. I left my rims there manager told me that it's safe here no one will touch so don't worry , but after the manager quit his job there I went back to this shop and asked about my rims and they told me that my rims are been recycled and they don't know anything about them. The new manager Jeremy told me that he will talk to his General Manager Jeff about this but neither him nor anyone else from Midas has contacted me. I don't know what's going on all I know is I left my original Kia rims at this 104st location in Edmonton and they are missing now I don't have money to buy another set of rims it's cost me $3500 from Go kia auto in Edmonton. I am not as rich as Mike or Jeff. So I want my rims back or they have to pay me. These people are making me fool I called them over 20 times and they say we will call you , these people are thieves so please don't go here. Jeremy (in the office) was great to work with but the outcome of my complaint was still very disappointing after weeks of waiting for someone to contact us. On Saturday May 11, 2019 my emergency brake didn't release and caused my rear brakes to seize. I was towed to a local Dealership ( waste of time - they were less than helpful.) We called Midas at apx 2 pm and they close at 4 pm. We explained the situation and that I was from out of town and needed to return to BC the next day. They didn't promise anything but said if we could get the van to them they would see what they could do. We went and got the keys (from the less than helpful or caring Dodge Dealership across the street)..the van miraculously moved and no lights came on. ..we drove to Midas and they said it should be fine as I hadn't any issues getting there.. BUT ...being the worry wart I am I asked if they could please look at it anyway. They pulled it in the shop and less than a half hour they had pulled off the tires, lubed it up and made sure it was safe to drive...and explained the issue to me in terms I understood.. thank you Gordon Betts, you were amazing and so helpful! Rather than being stuck in the city until maybe Monday or Tuesday...I managed to leave for home Sunday. This shop is horrible. I went in for an rear end suspension check and as i suspected i needed new leaf springs and shocks also my serpentine belt needed to be changed it was shredded even though i just had it changed 2 months before, not their fault but they changed it however it cost over a hundred dollars over any other shop i got a quote on it $220.00 whatever it needed to be done nothing i could do about it. I asked for a quote for my rear end suspension and the manager told me around $1000.00 but he would email me a quote on monday to be sure. Monday came around and no email so I called and got a quote over the phone she stated for the leaf springs and shocks would indeed be $1000.00 so I booked an appointment for Thursday. I arrived Thursday morning 8:50am (appointment was at 9am) when they printed off the paperwork the leaf springs wasn't on the list so I asked and they didn't know why it took them an hour of me waiting and finally they came back stating that it was going to cost over $1800 to do the work. Ridiculous! I was so mad I walk out and found a shop that would do it for $1300. I had planned my whole week for this appointment and it was my only day off to do this especially so close to christmas to get this done. to sum up over priced and don't do proper estimates. read more
