I've used this Midas for both an oil change and to replace my brakes. Both appointments I was able to drop my car in the morning and then pick it up before end of day. It's about a half mile walk from the shop to the Omni mover station, so if you work downtown like I do, the location is convenient to manage your car service with your work day. Stay away from this place unless you like getting ripped off. My A/C stopped blowing out cold air. I dropped off my car here and was charged $117 just to diagnose the issue. Finally, I get a callback saying that I need to replace the compressor for my A/C and the front desk lady quotes me over a thousand dollars. I immediately went to pick up my car, found a new compressor 10 miles away from $117 and found someone to install it for $130. Turns out, the compressor in my car was fine and the condenser just needed to be cleaned. I bought the part for nothing but at least I didn't get ripped off over $1,000. I've been coming here for a few years now for oil changes and small stuff but never again. New shiny location same shady people. read more

If you're one of those people who gets off on being taken advantage of, this is the place for you! After coming for a simple oil change and tire patch up, I was told my "fluids didn't looks good and filters needed replacement" "sure" I say, thinking that can't be too expensive and this nice lady made it sound like it wasn't a very big deal. (If she would have told me how much I would end up paying for something I don't even know if I really needed, I would have laughed in her face) So my initial quote was $120. A little over an hour later I am handed a bill for $480. I usually go to my local tire kingdom but happen to be staying downtown for a little. Needless to say I will never be going to a Midas again. I realize it is partly my fault for not asking more questions but if they simply told me how much it was going to be, I never would have agreed. Ashley was amazing!! So helpful & some of the best service I've had!! I had 2 tires (that I could see) that were shredded almost down to the wire (very unsafe) that the dealership I usually take my car to did not notice (or failed to tell me) so Midas was down the street (my tires weren't in stock anywhere, they not only had the tires I needed in stock (as my car was not safe to drive) but I needed an alignment very badly that was causing the extreme wear n tear. Upon inspection they called me right away to tell me my struts were also causing the problem & needed to be replaced . They gave me great pricing & an option for great financing if I needed it. I called to make sure I could bring my truck in for an oil change and the person said "no problem, bring it right in." However when I arrived 20 minutes later they were completely CLOSED, at 9:30am! So I went down the street and got an oil wrench from Advanced Auto Parts for around $7 and will do the oil change myself. Advanced will even take the used motor oil for disposal when I'm done. Be careful with this place. Check your receipt and check the tires you're actually getting. What you verbally agreed with may not be what's on paper. People here are nice but it's not an honest business. There are random fees also. What on earth is a "Midas fee"? I've been going to this Midas since January of this year. At first it was just for oil changes, but now, my car of 10 years and 120k miles is finally crying out for some MAJOR brake and suspension work. It's a frustrating experience - seeing your car falling apart and trying to gauge whether it's time to call it quits and get a new one. But since my care is a Toyota Corolla, I'm confident it will make it for at least another 50k miles on these mean Miami roads if I just breathe a bit more life into it. And this Midas has worked with me to keep my costs reasonable relative to a dealership refresh for such an old car. One of the main reasons that I keep coming back here is the Service Manager, Pierre. Pierre is great at diagnosing problems in the car based on issues I hear or feel while driving. More importantly, he has taken it upon himself to know and remember my car and myself. I don't feel like just another customer. It's almost as if he is a personal advisor - recommending work that is critical to my wife's and my safety on our 45min commute and advising where I may be able to wait a bit on other work. This makes me feel comfortable in the decisions that I make on keeping my car safe while keeping the amount of money that I put into the car within reason. When Pierre is not around, the mechanics and attendants that help me out are also friendly and professional. This place seems to try and tax their customers with excessively high estimates and get away with overcharging the customer as much as they can get away with....... I felt like I was trying to be taken advantage of.......Make sure they don't add any "warranty" costs to your invoice. Another sneaky move they tried on me without ever discussing any warranty. I arrived to Midas on Saturday a bit flustered at having a flat tire after just purchasing 4-brand new tires the week before (these were purchased elsewhere). I was not happy at the potential thought of having to buy another one. I was greeted by Oscar who I presumed to be the onsite Manager. The shop was busy and yet he found the time to inspect the tires, find the nail and have one of his co-workers make the repair; all in less than 30-mins. The service and courteousness were top notch. My muffler fell off while on the 95 in Miami on a Sunday night, so I made an appointment immediately online for the following day, Monday. Midas never confirmed my appointment, so I called at 11am to see if I could come in. I showed up at 11:30am and was told I'd have to spend at least three hours for them to see my car. I was in Miami for a gig on a Sunday night and needed to return to Vero Beach on Monday evening, so with a bit of pleading, I was able to have my car seen after an hour. While waiting, there were two people complaining about service, so I wasn't surprised when I was told I'd need to pay $2K to fix my muffler and wait three days. I had the guy wire the existing muffler on as best he could and was able to drive the car back to Vero to see my mechanic. It cost me $25 bucks for the 30 minutes of work. I was later told I had to tip! On the way home, I realized that my Apple Earpods were not in my car. They seem to have disappeared while I was at Midas. Be careful of your stuff while you're there. I didn't pay $2K but I did pay $25 plus Apple Earpods ($270), Good luck! read more

I went there for a tire repair, they told me we can't repair my tire and I need to change the tire, they gave me a quote of $618 for the tire change with alignment! I took my car to a different place to look for a tire cheaper. At the other locations they checked my tire and they told me I don't need to change the tire this tire can be fixed. I'm happy to see there is some honest peoples and not robber like this place! Don't waste your time and money with this location they are not worth a penny!!! read more

Be careful of this place. I took my car there for a simple oil change and they overfilled my 4.2L with 5L of oil. This caused a bunch of issues for my car, including having to have a whole other oil change within 1 month. I called Midas to get a refund and they refused because I didn't have my invoice number. This place is a joke. They wanted to charge me $618 for two Michelin tires that were $204 each. When I asked how the invoice climbed to $618 he broke down a bunch of shop fees and a $60 labor charge. Even if you don't say that, he will take care of you well. I am medical student, but I also work on cars. I originally went to this shop randomly due to its convenient location for me and pretended to know nothing about cars to see if he would take advantage of that as over 95% of shops in my experience have done. I dropped my car off to get my tires and suspension looked at before moving back to New York. I was waiting for the phone call to name me 101 problems wrong with my 2001 Civic, but he quoted a very reasonable price for exactly the problems I had. Jason was very reasonable and was the first mechanic in ten years that did not try to rip me off. Very rare to come across an honest mechanic as rare as it is to come across an honest lawyer and doctor. If anything, ask for Jason! Thanks! Lawyers don't trust anyone and no one trusts auto mechanics. So, this place had no chance the first time I brought my car here. It's hard (if not impossible) for me to admit I'm wrong, but I was wrong. I am certain that is it 100% due to the store manager, Oscar. I go through run-flat tires like they're going out of style thanks to the City of Miami potholes. My husband has a 1990 (on to qualify as "antique") Jeep Wrangler. So, we obviously need mechanics quite often. The crew of guys Oscar has put together is top notch and really know their stuff. I work 5 blocks away so I'm really hoping this place (and particularly the staff) sticks around until I retire in 15 years!! read more

Buyer beware. I walked in, a female with my daughter, asking for an inspection because I smelled burning after I would drive my car. They did a complete diagnostic and told me there was a crack in my fuel tank and my break pads were metal to metal and needed to be changed. They also said the break fluid was sludge. The entire job would be over $2,000. I took it for a second opinion and there was NO crack in the fuel tank, rather a plastic bag stuck to the muffler and the break pads were fine, the front ones would need to be changed in a few months. This Midas played on a 1950s stereotype, assuming because I was a woman with a child I would just fork over $2,000 because I didn't know any better. Do not go to them if you are looking for honesty. They are fraudulent mechanics. read more

I called at 5:02 on Thursday, which was technically after closing, and was able to make an appointment for 8:00 am the next day. I arrived and asked for an oil change (go to the website and print out a $19.99 coupon) and a brake check-up. I was pretty sure I needed new brake pads at the least. Oscar explained that since I was hearing a grinding sound, the situation could be more serious than just replacing the pads, and that I might need new rotors, which is pricey. Oscar offered me breakfast and my choice of DVDs to watch. When I declined, saying I had to get to work, he even offered me a ride! An hour later, Oscar called with good news - they could salvage the rotors and I just needed new pads. He easily could have told me otherwise and ripped me off. Oscar called again, right on schedule, a few hours later to tell me my car was ready. What a painless, refreshing experience! The best I've ever had when dealing with car maintenance. Oscar won my business and I won't be going anywhere else from now on. BONUS: If you work downtown, it's especially convenient. read more

I was given a set price, but after I left the car at their shop they called back saying that the job I wanted them to do was going to be double. I understand that prices can be more or less depending on the parts required, but when the price is literally the exact double of the original quote, "something is fishy."
