First time using Midas for repairs - the Bank Street location near Canadian Tire. The Hyundai dealership had quoted us $1800 for a backordered part that they had no idea when would arrive. Took the car to Midas, they fixed it with a universal part and sealed a crack in the resonator the same day for a reasonable price. I was so pleased with this quick service as my daughter and I need this car to be running well on a daily basis. It's a small shop but the atmosphere is chill and the people are very friendly and respectful. I hate taking my car to the dealership but bringing it here was enjoyable and efficient. You don't need to look elsewhere to get your car fixed. Great People just like a family. Someone that you can trust to work on your vehicle. Technicians that knows their stuff and explains clearly what the issues are on your vehicle and how much it will cost you before doing the work. I highly recommend Midas Bank Street Ottawa. They were friendly, responsive, and did a great job repairing my 9 year-old exhaust pipe just below the catalytic converter...where the pipes were beginning to rot (and leak). They did a great job, saved me money by doing only what needed to be done. It was fast, and the price was fair. The service manager who took care of me was truly excellent. Thank you. The owner backs up his staff even though one of the staff members was belligerent, physically threatening, and swore at me. This took place while there was another customer waiting for service. I questioned the cost of a repair performed as it seemed excessive, requested a breakdown of the cost, and shortly thereafter was shouted at, sworn at, and physically threatened by one of the staff members. The staff member was irate, approached me in a threatening manner, and insulted me using foul language and a derogatory term referencing a person with disabilities. The incident I am describing was recorded by a store front security camera. I spoke with the manager who indicated that the video camera is non-functional. The owner called me and said the video camera does work but does not capture audio. Who do I believe in this instance? Having spoke to the owner he felt I was partly responsible for the manner in which his staff member treated me. I have never heard of an instance where a customer is meant to feel responsible for the actions of the employee. I strongly recommended bringing your business elsewhere. Please do not support a business that makes light of mental health issues. read more

This was my first time using a Midas location for service and I had a very good experience. The staff was knowledgeable, friendly and really helped me understand what was going on. They invited me into the garage to see what the issues were while they explained everything to me. It also didn't hurt that I paid significantly less than what my dealership would have charged! The service here was fast and friendly! Yesterday I went to Oil Changers but I didn't think to check their price until I got there... they were charging $60 for a conventional oil change (which seemed kind of pricey to me). A quick, online search led me to this Midas location. My car is a little banged up and is in need of several minor repairs. When I asked for a quotes, Paul literally quoted me some Shakespeare, lol, but eventually followed up with actual, reasonable and lower than expected, repair quotes. This place is a bit out of my way but 100% I'll be back to this location to get the other repair work done. read more

I am so pleased with the service I get at this Midas. I have been going for years. First time I went to get a second opinion on my muffler (Nissan was going to charge me $800 and they fixed it for $50). Since then I have been going whenever something is needed. STAY AWAY FROM MIDAS 1691 BANK ST.........TERRIBLE!!! Would have picked 0 stars but that wasn't an option. A year after replacing my muffler it was completely destroyed cheap, cheap, cheap muffler. When it came to warranty it was not covered as they told me there was some sort of impact underneath and therefore warranty was void. Terrible experience. I brought in a Corolla to change the timing belt. 2 hours later they tell me it's done, then I see them turn on the car and smoke is spewing out from the hood and exhaust. They have no idea what is wrong, so they suggest an engine diagnostic test which would cost more money and time (which I didn't have). Long story short, $900 later I have a car that I had to get rid of 1 month later because of the damage. read more
