Every time I go here there's an unpleasant surprise. Last time was for a state inspection. They said it was $300 to remove the window tint. They left behind a mess on my windows, making them hard to roll down. But Midas said they can't do anything more for me, that I'd have to take my car to a detailer to remove that residue. I was losing pressure in one of my tires off and on for weeks. So I finally decided to take my car in and have Midas check out the tire. Come to find out there was a tiny nail stuck in it releasing air off and on. I have never been to a Midas before and to my surprise they fix small holes in tires, no matter where you have purchased them, for FREE! I couldn't believe it! I thought for sure I'd be buying a new tire that day and only walked out with a smile and gave the honest guy who worked on my car a tip for his honesty and work on my car. I had my oil changed last winter when this store (the Midas on South Broadway, NOT the Monroe at Wilton Mall) was running a $19.99 special. They took it on themselves to inspect my tires as well and brought back some disturbing news: The tires were worn in an unusual way and would all have to be replaced. The fault was probably with the shock absorbers so those would have to be replaced as well. And just to be safe, I should replace the springs under the car. I'm going to leave you to guess what happened next though my rating may provide a clue: 1/Eternally grateful, I agreed for the service at close to $2000 including the new tires and have had no further problems and am now a customer for life. 2/I ignored this good advice, continued driving this unsafe car, and was lucky to escape without serious injury when one of my wheels popped off. 3/I decided their advice was a bunch of hokum and gave it no further thought until I remembered it at the next oil change 3000 miles later (at the Monroe in BJ's, which I prefer) where no "unusual" tire wear was reported. On 8/5/22 I paid $818 to have my alternator and serpentine belt replaced and a wiper motor which I purchased separately installed. My first complaint is the cost of $195 to install a wiper motor. When I was given an estimate over the phone it was not itemized. Had I known, I would've had it installed elsewhere, but thats the least of my problems at this point. A few miles after picking up my car, it died. The gearshift cable had come off. Frank, the manager, told me it was a "coincidence". Hell of a coincidence! I believe they may have jostled it loose while doing the other work. On Saturday 8/6/22 I paid another $133 to have that cable replaced. That's 2 days without a car. Sunday I only drove 6 miles to work and back. I noticed when I started the car to go home it was making a high pitch whining noise again. Monday morning it died again because the "repaired" cable came off again. Frank then told me since my car is "old," they weren't able to get the exact fit part and had made it fit. So they sent me away with a half ass repair, knowing it probably wouldn't hold up, and put my safety and the safety of the 4 children I drove that morning at risk! Now Frank is telling me the cable will not stay on at all, it needs another $500 repair, and they can't get the part until the end of the month. I still have no vehicle and I won't until then. read more

I brought my car here for an inspection and they erroneously or unethically failed it for brake pads and rotors. I had my rear brake pads and rotors replaced 2 months / 2,000 miles prior with the dealer and at that time, the dealer told me I had 50% more life of my front pads and rotors. I questioned the results of the inspection multiple times and they wouldn't recheck it. They gave me an estimate for $1,200 and removed my sticker. I went to my dealer and they said there was some rust from the elements, but everything (front and back brakes) was fine and my car passed inspection. I called Midas to get refunded for my bad inspection and they denied wrongdoing. If they had at least admitted their mistake, I would have given 2 stars. The receptionist was lovely if there is a silver lining. I'll never go here again. I can only wonder if my husband brought my car in if they would have given him different results. Beware! read more

Update June 4, 2011: When we bought our snowtires, the manager said we could get them switched back to all season for free. Needless to say when we went back they had "no idea" what I was talking about. When I spoke with the manager about it, he said that it could take months to get my refund or he could give me a couple free oil changes... Asked when I could come in and I said I could that day. He said that's no good, I need to come in later. All in all, just forget about it, it's like, why don't you get your act together. I've never known anywhere to take months for a refund and I'd rather go to a garage that doesn't charge 88/hour for your services anyway. Original: I came in here by the misfortune of our car that was spoiled in the south saying eff you and not starting during the first snow storm. Mike, the manager, was very helpful and polite. We figured since we had to get our battery changed anyways, we might as well get our snow tires and an oil change as well. They didn't have the tire we needed in stock so we came back the next day to get them on. Besides the extremely long wait time the 2nd day, I had an overall good experience. They offer a military discount up to $30. My -1 star comes with the tall, heavy-set man in his 40s (saying late 30s would be pushing it) who was a huge a$$. He interrupted all the customers, which I could have dealt with. What I refuse to deal with is the next day, when he was talking with another customer about an experience with a cashier at another store, he started complaining about young people and what idiots we all are. Near by, my husband and I, young people, are sitting there, bringing him business. That is really freaking rude, and I hope he doesn't last much longer at this business. It's not necessary to share your strong dislike of groups of people at your place of employment. I keep my personal opinions to myself at work, and I expect to not be stereotyped while I'm bringing in business. Anyways, I probably won't return here without shopping around first, mainly because of the rude employee, but if I had to I wouldn't turn down returning here. read more

There is a section of Saratoga Springs which I call "Caveat Emptor Alley" on the Southern End of Broadway where three auto repair franchises reside, where two of the three are in modern and sleek buildings and where they supposedly vie for your business but in fact have bloated prices, far beyond what you should pay. When you go into any of them for an estimate Let the Buyer Beware" for they pray upon the gullible and trusting and create the illusion of competition when there is really none, all relying on a business model based on high markups for parts, bloated hourly rates, little or no inventory held in stock, and the illusion that they care, which I call the "Big Lie".. These unholy three-Monroe, Midas and Mavis- each marked up a part 500% from what I could get it for at Advance Auto Parts, charged double per hour in labor costs, compared to my local mechanic, and gave me repair estimates for a leaky automatic steering line from $484-247 for a repair my mechanic fixed in 15 minutes for $20. Be very careful when you use any of these guys as they do not have your interest at heart and though they appear to care about you, all they really care about is their bottom line. BEWARE, THESE GUYS AREN NOT YOUR FRIENDS!!! Friends do not charge you twelve to twenty four times what an honest mechanic did to solve the same problem. read more

Waited 45 min. Then was told, we don't have the right oil filter. Of course, I asked before I went in because I've had the same problem. No apologies. No attempt to make it right. Silence. Took all I had to not go over the counter! I WAS a loyal customer. Fool me twice.... UPDATE: This had nothing to do with wait time! Your response about "wait time" has nothing to do with the issue. It's deflection (for the benefit of others reading my review), and insulting to me. I will NEVER use your shop again. And, nothing you can offer will entice me to remove or change my review. There needs to be consequences for poor customer service! I'd be interested in calculating the loss incurred as a result of losing my business and that of the other people that read my review. Maybe next time you'll be more sensitive to your customer's time. read more

I've had multiple bad experience at this Midas location. Now I'm so pissed off I had to write a review on my (husband) most recent and LAST visit there. He just needed a simple inspection done on a 2018 vehicle with zero issues probably under 40k miles. That's ALL nothing else. He dropped his car off the night before. Then the next morning they called and said "we gave you can oil and your brakes pads look shot and your car couldn't pass inspection because the check engine light was on" keep in mind I never asked for an oil change when I dropped my car off the night before and the check engine light was NOT on. Then they said they would change $89 to run a diagnostic for find out what's wrong. At that point I said don't do anything else to my car. And they took the sticker off so now I can't drive my car because there's no sticker on it. I have an appt with Bert at Union Coach Works because their definitely more honest. read more

Horrible! I brought 2 cars there for inspections and oil changes. Dropped both cars off ar 9am, got called at 1:30 the one was done, I went and got it, paid $169.49 for the first cars oil change and inspection only to get in the car thinking it passed and seeing no sticker so I went and grabbed the paper work, the tint did not pass (it was bought in fl, I completely did not think about the tint) so I left, they never said anything, I waited till 4 then I drove up to get my other car to find out they did not even inspect it yet, so I went it (while waiting, they were telling people that inspections only take 1/2 an hour ) I told them I was taking my other car and not waiting any longer for an inspection, the guy told me that they were just about to get to it, I told him that they pissed me off telling me my other car was ready and never said anything to me about it failing.. Any way I took my car to Disbrows and they were amazing, told me how to remove my tint the easiest way or have it done. Being a mom of 4 I had Disbrows do it, then reinspected my car after they removed the tint and sent a photo into my insurance, everything done all at once and all within an hour and didnt coast me much. Only wish I didnt waist a day at Midas before going to Disbrows. Midas was an horrible experience. With Disbrows I couldnt be more happier, I'll never return to Midas. read more

I brought my car in for the annual inspection. I received a call from Mike telling me my emergency brake was not working and it needs to work in order to pass inspection. I was sure I was going to get ripped off, especially since I know nothing about cars. I was very pleasantly surprised at the honesty and integrity of the Mike and the others who work there. My mother stopped by with a warning light on her dash for low pressure, which had been corrected. She was able to get someone to turn it off in less than 10 minutes and wasn't charged anything. Earlier in the day she stopped by a competitors shop, they told her it would take three hours. That they needed to put it up on a lift and couldn't even give her a quote. It's hard to not feel like you are being taken advantage of, when it come to auto repairs, especially as a woman. Thank you Midas for taking care of my mother. I would like to give this Midas Location ZERO stars! Midas off Broadway in Saratoga is run by a bunch of unprofessional and unethical people. My husband needed his brakes replaced and they were able to get him in on the weekend so we went ahead and made an appointment with them instead of with Nissan, (which we would of had to wait until the following weekend or drop off our car during the week, which is kind of hard for us to do during the week). Anyways, Midas replaced his brake pads and told him he needed a new serpentine belt. So my husband went ahead and replaced that as well. It just so happens that he didn't need a serpentine belt and they ended up messing up the belt tensioner in the process. Right after they replaced the serpentine belt we had a road trip to Maine and during our drive his car would make a very LOUD noise every time he would start the car and put it in drive. Well it just so happens that we went to another Midas to get it fixed during our vacation and the guy said that the serpentine belt was not tight enough. How is this possible when we just paid about $700 for brakes and serpentine belt a few days prior. When we got back to Saratoga and went to the original Midas they said it will be another $500 do fix the problem!?!?!? I don't understand how we are having this $500 problem after they supposedly fixed the serpentine belt, unless they are trying to get more business. We ended up going to Nissan to fix the problem that Midas created. Do not go to this Midas! They will screw up your car and it will cost you a lot more money in the long run! read more

When looking for a cheap oil change, I was quickly directed at Midas Auto. I was impressed at first; cheap oil changes, fast service and free tire rotation. However my third, and final, visit left me very unimpressed. Visiting for a routine oil change, the gentleman grabbed me from the waiting room and asked me to come check out my rear rotors. They were worn out a bit and he recommended that I have them replace both rear tire rotors and brake pads. I was quoted a price a little under $500 and thought to myself, 'screw that', thanked him for finding the issue and said I would replace them on my own. The next day I picked up the replacement parts and began to work on the tires. One issue... When putting my tires back on, the man at Midas decided that it would be a good idea to COMPLETELY strip my tire key to prevent me from being able to remove the tires myself. I was forced to bring my car into the Nissan shop and pay to have them remove the lug-nuts and also have them put a complete new set on with a new key. In the long run, I would have saved more money by going to a well respected place such as Jiffy Lube. If you need a cheap oil change, fine, but don't trust these guys with much else. read more

Took my car in for "shaking" front end.....got it back with same problem. Mike said it could be fixed....but was extensive and he would find the part. Called us back, with the price. Was kinda steep, but said we would get back to him. We finally agreed to have it done....but took FOREVER to get in touch with him! Many calls and emails were sent.....nothing....my husband FINALLY caught him, but only because he picked up the phone this time! Told him we would go ahead with them fixing the problem. He said he would locate the part...but NEVER contacted us or updated us again. I cannot recommend this place, and was warned not to go to them, but had faith. Cannot do business with anyone who does not have the courtesy to keep their customers abreast of work they intended to do. read more

Muffler repair--the pipe had rusted off the connection. My friends said just to jimmy rig it with a tin can and some tape! I thought, no, I better get it done right. Midas is next door to Monroe, and they gave me a quote over 100 bucks cheaper than Monroe, so I went there. Then things got interesting. They had me waiting for over 2 hours--literally--before they started working on the truck. Then, and only then, did they realize they'd have to special order a pipe because the pipe I had on was not standard. After two hours, I agreed; they said the pipe was 40 bucks more. Then another hour and some more bad news, as they would have to use a different muffler than the generic one they quoted me on. After three hours and with my truck disassembled up on the lift, what do you think I said? OK just get it done. 400+ bucks--more than 2x the original quote, and this is for muffler and pipe only, no Cat Converter. They also "slow-played" me: by making me wait hours, they knew I would agree to small increases. Should have gone with the higher quote at Monroe! At least they wouldn't have sheisted me. BTW, during the three-plus hours I was there, I saw every other customer taken out back because they found some other problem, or something they had said before wasn't exactly as they had said! They used to have a different manager back in November and December he was pretty nice to making sure my care was all set I had my brake light come on it turned out my brake fluid needed to be topped off they were super busy and they fit me in the manager was very kind and really helped me out he was very nice to service dog they have on record my brakes were fixed there in November and I have a life time warranty they are really great here I love this place you should def give them your business they stand by there word and Warranty read more

Ive gone to this Midas a few times before. The mechanic Will has done a fantastic job with my two vehicles that had complete brake repair to struts etc. The maintenance work being very well done, the service wait time at this location is awful. They have been understaffed it seems for some time. All the patrons there while I was there on these occasions all agreed. Do not accept vehicles in that will create the exhorbitant wait times. If one is told of an appointment time of whatever to come in don't expect them to sit more than half hour to stick around with no end in site. I like the maintenance Ive received, but the wait times are awful! full shops with one mechanic and one oil tech doesn't work. Not fair to the employees either. HIRE more mechanics read more

Phenominal place!!! I will never bring my car anywhere else. Mechanic name George was given to me as a reference by a friend who has been here. I took my car in, and the experience made me feel super confortable. He showed me what the problem was, explained why it needed to be fixed, and how he would fix it. I researched everything he said and it all made sense from the problems my car was giving me. He also showed me wear and tear on other parts that could cause problems in the future, but told me it was not needed this very moment if i did not want to do it, and gave me an estimate on timing. Second review: Spent 9 hours waiting for my service to be completed. First they said 3-3.5 hours, then 1.5 more, then almost done, then I stopped asking and it was 5pm. Left with a car that repeatedly stalled and was unsafe to use for several days (they knocked the main computer/airflow sensor off and the car needed to relearn its parameters). Paid for an alignment that was not on the original estimate. Seeking legal action as they were unwilling to refund any of my repairs. (First time I've ever done this.) Totally, totally unsatisfied with the experience and will not be returning. Too bad I can't give zero stars. Ironic too, because I joined Yelp to give them an initial positive review. read more

The employees aren't too pushy with selling you upgraded services, but they work with the customer to provide the best service possible. I am very impressed with how Joshua the manager bent over backwards to get me an appointment for my car inspection the day before I left for a long car trip.
