The degeneration has progressed from my neck down to L5 and i have a lot of lower back pain. As a result, I have suffered from sciatica for about 5 years, but it became very acute about 7 months ago, so I had acupuncture for 4 sessions which didn't do much. Then I went to physiotherapy twice a week for a month with strict instructions to do exercises a minimum of 3 times a day. That did not bring much relief, so I had traction and physio, then IMS and traction. I spent thousands of dollars and none of it brought a lot of relief. In fact the IMS made it worse. I started going to yoga which helped and met a shiatsu trainer who suggested I go to an Osteopath. His treatments are very effective, and I always enjoyed my sessions with Michal, as he is very kind, humble, and personable. He was also very accommodating in his scheduling, which I really appreciate because I really felt like he wanted to help me. I also appreciate that he knew when to recommended that I see a doctor and get xrays, and he didn't pretend that he knew everything about my pain or how to fix it. I think that shows true wisdom and humility in his field, and in my experience, it's quite rare. I have had so many practitioners tell me they can "fix" my body get rid of all of my pain, but Michal was the first one to actually realize that there was something going on that needed to be examined further, and he was not too proud to recommend that I see someone else about it. However, the UBC MS clinic has been sending reports to this office for years... but no one told me that I was not a patient there any longer. Imagine my surprise when I was repeatedly told by the receptionist that " you are not a patient here and you better find yourself a GP, I learned this when I called needing a referral for a test booked at UBC hospital. If I am not a patient do they get paid to keep my records? Why would they keep accepting reports from a neurologist for a patient with a disease that was no longer their client.
