I'm actually very confused what can/cannot be done at the water area. As they signs are rather vague. I feel more signs like (no swimming, no lifeguard on duty, jelly fish etc... ) should be visible.

In the summer, you can rent kayaks off the dock. There are plenty of picnic tables and public washrooms closer to the front of the park. However, if you drive a little further in, there is a huge field with more picnic tables and an area with a large gazebo and more tables. There are outhouses in this location too. Throughout the perimeter of the park, there are easy, flat trails covered and lines with beautiful trees. You can find dogs on leash and horses on these trails. One of best parts if that this park isn't heavily frequented so it's not overly crowded and you can enjoy the sights and feels of nature at your leisure. Came here recently for a snowy engagement shoot and it was magical! A little wonderland in a place you wouldn't expect.

Kingsway, the main drag leading into Vancouver proper, witnesses more than its share of traffic, as do the various side streets. So it's a testament to the vision of the founders of the town that this oasis exists. While one can occasionally hear the hum of the Metro or the nearby avenues, by and large it's a place to quickly and efficiently get away from it all. If walking and nature viewing don't fully complete your needs, there are plenty of more physical activities to partake in or watch others partake in - the stadium, the pool, the golf course, the picnic tables - you name it, Central Park has it.

Park is so clean. Toilets are clean…read more Trails are clean. Love all the squirrels, chipmunks, coyotes on the golf course, birds, ducks etc... The Central Park Perimeter Trail is one of the longest continuous rubberized tracks for walking and running at 3.5km. LOVE IT!! There is a 2.5-kilometer outdoor fitness circuit with 12 stations designed for cardio, strength, balance, and flexibility. Tennis courts can use some upgrading or expansion though. Lots of space for picnics and some are under covered spaces. Summer is usually occupied by church groups. There's an area where people have their RC boats in the pond. Not sure if the ducks are annoyed by them or not. This park has almost everything.

A park gem in the middle of the city…read more Small parking lot near the main entrance off of 100th Avenue. Lots of different trails that circle the lake and beyond. Trails are well maintained with lots of family friendly traffic on a good weather day and the trails are relatively flat. Recommended you download the park map if you want to create your own jogging or walking route as several major roads cut through the park grounds.

The "Green Timbers Urban Forest Park" located in Surrey (just outside of Vancouver) offers spectacular opportunities to get out and immerse yourself in some "Fall colors" when that need strikes you. Their numerous trails funnel you to (and around) the lake and are extremely well marked and maintained. Bicycles, runners/walkers, and leashed dogs are all welcome. In fact, we felt that most of the trails are flat and wide enough to also welcome wheelchairs and strollers. Although we always recommend the buddy system when enjoying a trail, we found these well traveled enough to give it our highest safety rating. For those seeking a challenge when enjoying these trails, we'd recommend trying to locate the beaver dams and their inhabitants. There is convenient parking located on 100th Avenue (between 144th Street and 148th Street), so get out there and enjoy some fresh and vibrant Canadian air, eh? Was Vancouver is a place of hidden gems and beautiful locations and this park is a perfect example…read moreof what I mean. When you arrive at the trailhead it does not look like much. Mary is after only space for a few cars to park. But after a maximum of 10 minutes, depending on your fitness level, you arrive at a truly spectacular sight. The view of Howe Sound and the Straight of Georgia is beautiful and well worth the walk in. If you time you are arrival perfectly you will have one of the two really good spot at the end the trail to watch the sunset. It is a really romantic place for that. Is also an excellent place if you want to have a picnic or a family outing on a warm summer day as the breeze from the ocean made it quite cool.

The playground was full of people and there were multiple private events going around at the picnic sites. What I really appreciate about this park is the spaciousness. It is gigantic. There is a lot of green space for children to ride bikes and run around. Another great aspect of this park is that it is near a mini train museum/train station. The train rides were great. We went on a steam powered little train and it took us around the park probably 4 times. I think the train ride lasted for about 8-10 min. It was well worth the $40 for 10 tokens cost. Most of the kids and adults in our group went on the ride. The food at the concession stands was affordable too. It wasn't overpriced at all, to my surprise.

Very nice park in northern Burnaby…read more Parking is plentiful in several lots around the perimeter. This park has quite a bit of stuff. There's a library, running track, sports fields, a kiddie waterpark, community pool, picnic area, lawn bowling, and even 2 dog parks. The grass is very well maintained, and it's the right size for taking a nice stroll on a sunny day.

We went on a Friday and it was pretty busy but we arrived around 11am and there were still a couple of parking spots available in the various small lots around the park. There is a snow chalet type building near the trail head & suspension bridge that has restrooms on the outside and some snacks and ice cream on the inside. We took the Twin Falls loop trail and went in the direction that started with the suspension bridge first and it was a lot more stairs and steeper than we anticipated. The hike back up from near the creek at the bottom had us sweaty and huffing and puffing as middle-aged parents. haha! But the trees and foliage was beautiful and we even saw a banana slug! We were cursing the 20 flights of stairs up and down but afterwards, we felt good.

Tip: The overall size of this beach is fairly small when compared to that of most of the other beaches in the area, especially Stanley Park and Kits. The parking for this place is a fair distance away and up the hill, across from the main railway.  The trails you'll find here aren't any different than those found in other nearby parks, so all-told this is probably a place best left for those who live nearby.

Six months ago I started a hiking group in which all hikes and walks are transit accessible and I…read morepurchased a couple of books of local walking and hiking trails for inspiration. It was in one of my books in which I learned about the Fraser Foreshore Park trail, and I planned a walk with my hiking group in October. The trail is a flat, easy trail along the Fraser River (ideal for people with mobility problems), and according to the book, it is 8km round trip and takes around 2.5 to 3 hours. However, despite walking at a slow, relaxed pace and stopping to take photos, the walk only took two hours. While it was a nice walk, I didn't find it particularly interesting and would prefer to try new trails before walking along this trail again. The trail is very transit accessible, with the #116 bus from Edmonds or Metrotown Station stopping minutes from the beginning of the trailhead on Boundary Road, but with the bus running only every half an hour, it's a bit of a pain to catch and what would be less than a ten minute drive ends up being a half an hour transit journey for me. Other things to note: within the park is a playground and picnic tables, as well as washrooms. But there are no washrooms at the beginning of the trail at Boundary, so if you need to use the bathroom at the beginning of the walk, you have to use the nearby gas station.
