If I could give zero stars, I would. This office made a serious mistake on my account after I clearly informed them that I no longer had private insurance through my job because I was laid off and now have Medicaid. Despite providing this information, they continued billing my former private insurance and ignored my Medicaid coverage. As a result, I was left with an incorrect balance of $250 even though the billing error was entirely on their part. They have since refused to see me or my 16-year-old daughter, even though they accept my Medicaid plan. Every attempt I've made to schedule an appointment has been met with rudeness and unprofessionalism, especially from Jessica, who repeatedly hangs up the phone when I call once she realized it's me she don't want to answer my questions she keep saying "goodbye". This experience has been extremely disappointing and unprofessional. Patients should not be denied care due to office errors or poor billing practices. I truly hope management reviews their staff conduct and billing procedures immediately. I am now filing a Complaint to the State Department of Health / Medical Board and the Medicaid and/or Insurance Commissioner for refusal of care and improper billing practices. Someone needs to be held accountable . read more

Worst experience from a dentist's office ever. Over $3k in bills last year, one being my daughter's first filling, now they want $700 to fix the cavity they did. They claim the tooth is decaying - but how can this be? Sounds like they didn't properly prepare the tooth for the filing. When I called I also mention myself fearing to return because I didn't trust them...my last filing (first in 40 years) was done in March, the filing fused two of my teeth together. They said it has been too long so I have to pay for them to fix their mistake. What a sham; I feel betrayed, cheated and my call with them ending by them telling me, "We're a business", you must understand. This is hands down the worst dentist i have ever been too. When they called my sisters name back for the appointment that stated ryland instead of raylynn. When we politely corrected her she responded with "ryland raylynn same thing". My sister was there for a root canal which can already be a nerve racking appointment. While getting the root canal, staff kicked my mother out of the room because they stated she was making my sister uncomfortable by watching to closely. Please note my mother never made her uncomfortable. Staff also never asked if she would be comfortable without our mother there. For this reason i changed dentist and obtaining my dental records was a whole process that shouldn't take up as much time as it did. I wouldn't tell my worst enemy to go here!!! Just got off the phone with a lady that answers the calls at Middletown Family Dentristy or maybe the Secretary. "Very unprofessional." All my children had gone their before and had their teeth done before. We have always paid our bills and even called to fix a bill if we were confused about a payment. She said they made us inactive patients because supposadly we "do not make enough money." My husband is retired Military and we both have decent contractor jobs. United Concordia is our insurance through Tricare Prime. We both receive VA disability and he receives his retirement after 22 years of service plus we both have very good jobs and make over triple digits. The issue is that if you are judging people by their social status upon answering the phone saying, "We made you inactive because you can't afford it." When and where, did we say... and how do you know we can't afford it? Obviously we can afford it and our bills are paid or we wouldn't be calling to set up another appointment. Learn how to communicate more classy and watch how you talk to your consumers. Don't be judgmental of the less fortunate either. No. Sorry please don't reactivate me. This week, I attended my first visits to Middletown Family Dentistry for a cleaning/check-up. After filling out paperwork, Nancy the Dental Assistant met me at the front desk. Although she was wearing a mask, you could tell that she was smiling brightly and was eager to assist me. Nancy was nothing short of professional throughout my entire visit. I greatly appreciated her explaining every aspect of the cleaning/X-ray process. She not only defined the dental terminology in plain language, but also explained the implications as well as gave her own personal suggestions and recommendations. After Nancy finished her initial screening, the Dentist came in and examined my teeth. The examination was pretty quick and the dentist was very polite and straightforward for the brief time that he was there. Finally, at the conclusion of my visit, I checked out with Sue. Sue was the perfect ending to my visit and continued the theme of warm and professional. She helped me with any questions about payment and was very flexible when scheduling my next visit. All in all, it was a very pleasant experience with a knowledgeable and professional staff. So why only two stars? Unfortunately, during my second visit a few days later, I was treated by a different associate. Please do not get me wrong, she was very polite towards me. However, she turned on ESPN while she worked and then went on to make some very negative, hurtful, and disparaging comments in reference to those who choose to kneel during the national anthem. She also made what I thought were very offensive and dismissive remarks regarding the mascots of professional teams that may depict negative stereotypes. She even referenced "facts" that she later admitted were not true to back up her reasoning. The whole experience really cancelled out what was an initially great experience a couple days before. I'm not judging her through this writing. In fact, I truly agree that she is entitled to her beliefs and opinions and I respect her right to express them. Persecuting her for her political beliefs would be hypocritical and make me guilty of the very thing I am accusing her of. In fact, I think my experience today highlights the importance of the current movement going on and how people need to be educated about tolerance and the many forms racism can take. The associate today was very polite and friendly and I do not believe that she intended for her comments to be offensive. However, the fact remains that she made some very intolerant statements that were not appropriate for the setting. I guess my point is that I was just there for a teeth cleaning and felt very uncomfortable that she publicized beliefs that were harmful to what I believe in and hurtful to people of color like myself. I know this review is very different from the other views and focuses on different issues, but the issues I mentioned should be considered by the associate I saw today and all associates everywhere. Nobody wants to attend a dentist appointment and feel like their core beliefs are under attack or not important. Unfortunately, I will not be returning to Middletown Family Dentistry. If you go on their website, you might find a more positive review that I wrote the other day. However, it seemed important that I amend that review after today's experience. Also, I understand today's climate and understand that people will disagree with me and even possibly get angry. That's fine with me. I just hope that I can give people a different perspective if they are thinking about visiting Middletown Family Dentistry. read more

The administrative staff and hygienist's are extremely and totally awesome!!! Been going there for years and the atmosphere is always professional and fun. Dr. Arrighi and his staff are state-of-the-art but also very friendly and warm. The office is decorated almost like a spa; the view out the window is pleasant and relaxing (a field) and the decor is sage, gray and mahogany wood--soothing. The equipment is always the most advanced available--such as an on-site custom crown maker that measures your crown using light and then crafts the crown on the spot. The hygienists are all very friendly and remember your last visit so they can follow any issues with gum or mouth or teeth. Dr. Arrighi is a quiet guy but he and the hygienists explain everything to you, answer questions, and if you are a whimp, you are not sneered at and they make sure the procedures are pain-free. I was referred here by some of my coworkers a few years ago. I couldn't be happier! The dentists and hygienists are awesome, as well as the office staff. Everyone is friendly and always make me feel comfortable. Also, I have never waited in the waiting room longer than a couple of minutes. I originally chose this dentist due to its proximity to my job, but even though I no longer work in Middletown and I don't live nearby either, I will continue to go here. Pleasant, friendly staff that greet everyone politely. Dr. Arrighi and Dr. Wang are also friendly and respectful. The office is clean, nicely decorated and the equipment is state-of-the-art. Recently I had a colleague from work visiting from Germany who was experiencing a bad toothache. They squeezed us in for a consultation and prescribed antibiotics. She felt better within 24 hours. I later received a flower arrangement thanking me for my referral. They were beyond accommodating in this situation. read more

I was a patient for many years with an appointment to have a filling replacement two days before going on vacation. The office called me two days in advance to collect my co-pay. I told the staff member that I did not agree with this policy; she said she would call me right back. Two minutes later she called and said they have cancelled my appointment and removed me from their practice and when I find a new dentist; let them know where to send my records. Wow, I have never been treated so poorly and after all the years I was a patient. I could not even believe they were doing this to me; I have always paid at the time of service. I would not recommend this dentistry to anyone. They obviously have NO loyalty to anyone. I have found a new dentist who is wonderful. read more

I went to this Dental office a little over 4 years ago. At that time I had no cavities, etc. but had a partial built for my missing upper teeth. Over the past 4 years I kept getting text requests to make an appointment for a cleaning. I finally accepted one such request a few months back, in March or April 2019. When I arrived at their office for my cleaning I was told, by office staff, that it is their office policy to have a complete set of x-rays every 5 years and since I had not been to their office for 4 years I would have to do the x-rays prior to anything else even though I had only made the appointment for a cleaning. I asked how much for the x-rays and the office staff told me I would have to wait in the dental chair and speak directly with Dr. Wang regarding the price. When Dr. Wang finally entered the cleaning room I asked him how much for the x-rays and why were they necessary. (I had no teeth pain, etc.) He simply told me it was their "office policy" to do the x-rays and a complete set of 18 x-rays would be necessary for a total of $250.00. Note that I only had a few x-rays during the prior visit. I told Dr. Wang that it "was not my policy" to have that many x-rays and I flat out told him that "...this seems like nothing more than a money grab". I then got up out of the dental chair and abruptly left - never to return. Note, if you don't have dental insurance avoid this guy like the plague. Even if you do, find out ahead of time what is covered. I doubt any insurance policy would cover 18 x-rays at any one time. read more

It is not the dentist that I am unhappy about it the front desk office staff. I had my teeth cleaned yesterday - after the appointment I was give a bill for $192. I stated I had insurance and that I have been coming to this office for 3 years with the same insurance. I was told that opnce I turned 21 they no longer accepted my insurance. Why wait until after my appointment do they tell me they no longer accept the insurance I have? read more

This is a very disorganized office. When I called for an appt for my son who is over 21 and goes to yearly appt while he is home for college.They tried to tell me that we left the practice 8 yrs go when my son and husband still go there yearly. They could not get the facts straight on the phone and have been short with me more than once. The they said they could not talk to me about making an appt because he is over 21 ... well there is nothing confidential about making an appt. They talked to my son on the phone and he was unhappy with the tone of the person on the phone and decided to stop going there all together ... his choice. I personally found another dentist for myself several years ago after his assistant made comments about my pain tolerance. My other family member complained that they were not completely numb when drilling was started and had to get another injection. Word of caution if you fear dentists. I am very happy with Premier Comprehensive Dental...Dr Lui is very compassionate and has never made me feel uncomfortable. read more
