The saga continues. On July 13th, 2026, I sent an electronic payment to my credit card with MidFlorida to transfer a balance to my new financial institution to remove my account with MidFlorida because of their poor customer service. My financial institution processed the funds against my account on July 20th, On July 24, 2026 the payment has not yet been processed, MidFlorida refused the electronic payment and required my institution to send a check, which they did. However, I have been told MidFlorida will take 10 to 14 days to process the payment because it is a check. Therefore they will continue to charge me interest on my balance paid account. Today I received a payment due notice for the account. Just another way that MidFlorida will screw with a member. This is totally unacceptable service for a financial institution. I am a retired former Credit Union President/CEO and would never treat my members this way. My suggestion is that if you are considering MidFlorida...DON'T, If you are a customer, LEAVE quickly before you get screwed as well. read more

Payed off my vehicle loan. Three weeks later, still have a lien on the title. Took my money out of my account the next day. I want to trade my vehicle in on an updated model. Can't do it because of the lien. I think they should pay me INTEREST on the time it takes to settle the payoff. This is 2026 not 1926. Banks, Mortgage Companies, and Insurance Companies are a bunch of thieves. There should be a law against these actions. read more

Would leave 0 stars if possible. They have fasle click bait advertisement with offer of $400 bonus to open a checking account, but when you apply, they will deny account opening due to credit scores. I've been in the financial industry for well over a decade and never have seen a checking account denied over low credit score. I have seen for too many account opening requests in last 30 days, account abuse and charge-off, none of which i have on my record. It's absurd and do not recommend anyone to try to open an account with them. read more

Always difficult to give a good review when you receive bad service. The people there tried, but their systems and processes suck! I tried making a principal-only payment on a HELOC and reducing my principal, but because I was within 10 days of my next payment being due, they "weren't allowed" to allow the payment... I tried explaining that I am attempting to lower the principal so I do not have 10 additional days of compounding interest, but they insisted it was policy for me to pay my next payment early. This CU used to be ok w friendly competent people. HOWEVER, the branch in Lutz off Hwy 54 has hired a bunch of people whonare EXTREMELY RUDE and incompetent. If you are traveling internationally, start looking at other banking options! I called with MidFlorida before my travels to help make sure everything is in order for me to use money overseas. They told me that because of the risk in the country I was going to, they would contact a manager to put it in their systems (great! Some extra precaution, right?) What I was not told, not over phone, not over email, not at all, was that this meant they would be freezing my account entirely! I understand it's a safety measure, and it is a relief to hear that my account wasn't stolen, but now I am stuck without any access to my account. I only found out after being unable to log in at all, unable to reset my password (even here I did not receive any communication), and genuinely thinking that my account had in fact been stolen. Maybe there could have been an email at least to keep me informed. If they did send any messages to me at all, it would be to my associated phone number, which doesn't work overseas with my cell plan (assuming they tried to send any messages at all)! So now because they froze my account and I didn't know, I have to figure out a way to get money overseas for my travels, which feels a lot riskier than having my card work where I am! read more

Midflorida was of our favorite place to go. Always helpful on the spot. Automated machines not so great. The new phone system is more than inadquate and causes more problems than you had when you initially started. To say more than frustrating is an understatement. This is not the fault of employees. After going through a day of paramount frustration with the phone system I finally gave up and went in personally. After speaking with a very nice Branch Manager Robert Dougherty he got me a new card and addressed the fraud issue. If it were not for him I would have withdrawn my entire account and closed it. MidFlorida you can do better with your phone system. Not fair to your employees to take the flake for this. read more

I visited the lobby for some banking business and I was fortunate enough to have Youry wait on me. He is one of the most courteous, helpful, professional, patient and knowledgeable person that I have met in a long time. If you don't have a program to help your personnel continue their education you should. Youry would be a super candidate and would bring MidFlorida a more balanced and dedicated workforce. MidFlorida should be considered two separate credit unions, one from long ago when they were great, and the current one, where they're rotten. After banking there for decades, I go in and renew a CD with Rosie. She does everything, and never mentions "Oh, by the way, MidFlorida introduced draconian penalties if you're dumb enough to have a CD here." So at some point I find out, and have to go to the high-ups to get the CD closed out without penalty. I'm supposed to have noticed on one of the multitude of pages, that still look exactly as always, that they've slipped in the new penalties. Remember, banking there for years, Rosie remains mute. The website mentions the cryptic 'A penalty may be imposed for early withdrawal." You're not going to be able to track down that it's something like FOUR YEARS OF INTEREST on a 5-year CD, no matter when you close it, so essentially you could easily end up paying MidFlorida for the "service" of keeping your money with them. There are plenty of excellent banks where the penalty is reasonable. Another incident, I had a Power of Attorney for my mom. I go into the MidFlorida branch, and the document I have to sign as POA needs to be notarized. No matter how many times I explained, the guy was incapable of understanding, always repeating that "MidFlorida does not notarize POAs." I sent the complaint in to MidFlorida, explaining again, and get the same response from somebody else there, saying I need to go to a lawyer who will draw up a POA. So they are absolutely incapable to understand that I have the POA already, despite me saying over and over that I already have the POA. Now, they're ripping my daughter's account off for $10, because they slipped in a new fee if the account balance isn't $50 or more. Understand, my daughter has had this account for years and years, MidFlorida sees the opportunity to steal $10 from my daughter and goes for it. I complain, and they say it just started. Never notifying people who'd be affected, you're supposed to check their fees on a daily basis, and not offering to refund the money they've ripped off. And we've got enough money there that we're supposed to be "Relationship" status. Wow, I'd hate to see how they treat the customers they don't like. Something is definitely rotten in MidFlorida. This is absolutely the worst bank I have ever dealt with in the 53 years of banking I've done. I am a shared branch member and tried to deposit a $9700 check here. Of course I went through drive-through and was told that shared members cannot use drive-through. They must come in the lobby. I went in the lobby and was told because I tried to electronically deposit my check at my branch first, they would not accept the check, and I would have to drive to my own branch. These people figure out a way to not do business with anyone and are very smug about it. I would not recommend this bank to anyone. read more

If you enjoy constantly getting your purchases denied due to "fraud alerts", MidFlorida FCU is your bank! I do my grocery shopping on the same day of the week at the exact same location 99% of the time. Yet my groceries somehow get red flagged despite using the chip card with pin number. I can't buy my kids anything off x box live. Every purchase attempt results in a fraud alert denial. Most recently, i was in winndixie buying my weekly groceries when wow...what a shocker, it was declined due to fraud alert. Over 3 minutes later i get a text asking to confirm it was me and then telling me to retry the card in 5-10 minutes. As if i am going to hold up a grocery store checkout for 10 minutes while my bank gets their act together. Their "helpdesk" is a joke. I requested a call back from a bank manager and days later still no call. I have been with this bank for 18 years. The only reason i have been with them so long is of how much work it takes to switch both personal and business checking/savings accounts to a new bank. But as god as my witness, i will do it this year. Pros: free popcorn on Friday Con: very limited access to your own money. No one cares they are inconveniencing you. DO NOT USE THIS BANK!!!!! I make my car payments two weeks ahead and they sent me a notice saying I am late and charged me a late fee. I have never been late at all. I made a mistake in auto pay to a cc company. I went to branch and was told rudely too bad. I forgot to make my deposit. I drove by a different branch that afternoon. went in, made the deposit and was told I could get a refund. the form was filled out and a copy was given to me. I was told it would take 10-14 days. I waited 17 days. called today. spent 25 minutes on phone with person who was totally lost. wanted the address of the cc company and phone number. I stated I was not at my desk and it is in my auto pay. I gave up and asked for supervisor. Madilyn the supervisor was, rude condescending and could care less about my problem and what I was told. she wanted me to make a complaint against the branch that filled out the useless dispute form. I told her that was her problem I wanted to address my problem. find the correct solution and figure out how to proceed. she told me to call the cc company. was their anything else I needed. I said I needed to be able to rely on the information I was given. I got more poor attitude from her. I am disappointed of this bank policy. I have a checking account with this bank. I took my son who just came from Cuba on February 10, 2023, he is 21 years old, to one of the branches here in Avon Park, Florida to open a checking account. I informed the representative that he has a Florida ID, and that we waiting for his working permit and Social security card to come in the mail. I had the receipts to show her. She informed us that if he didn't have a permanent residency, that she could not open an account for him. I asked her why, he is not going anywhere. He came legally through the humanitarian process, I-134A, immigration law that came out January 5, 2023 for two years, but Cuban can ask for permanent residency after one year and one day of staying in this country. So we know that our son is not going anywhere. We want to teach him how to he financially responsible and how to handle his money once he starts working. Unfortunately, this bank policy discriminate or block people like my son. It is a shame because I do like this bank. I was even thinking of transferring my bank account from Chase bank to this bank. Now it is not going to happen. I moved to Highlands county from Broward county. There is no Chase bank in this area. I thought that Mid-Florida was going to be my only bank. I can only say stay away from mid florida credit union, what kind of bank charges your 10.00 for a wire deposit to you saving account. I have had several issues with them before, but this is the topper. They have the absolute worst customer service out there. They lie to you when offering you accounts, not disclosing the restrictions. They claim to be your hometown bank but they make is so difficult to do anything unless it's in person. Their app and online system is ancient, their phone system hangs up on you, so you're forced to waste your time (in the middle of a pandemic!) going in person to try and deal with stuff. Don't waste your time, find yourself a bank that actually exists in the 21st century. Also do NOT finance your car through them. They will rip you off with bogus fees and then never send you statements or bills, so you're stuck calculating stuff on your own. read more

I have a joint bank account with my husband. MidFlorida made my husband the "primary" account holder. They won't let me access online statements or other documents. It's 2019! Ironically, my husband and I use the same login information, so he wouldn't be able to access the documents either. This is unacceptable in 2019. Months ago, I was applying for financial aid for our daughter. I couldn't access bank statements. MidFlorida told me they were "aware of this problem" and "working on it." It needs to be fixed IMMEDIATELY. read more
