I was impressed with this place when we moved in but as time went on and mgmt changed, the experience went down. My monthly rate increased every few months and light bulbs in the place stopped being replaced (so my locker was always on the dark). Bad business. they increased my rate 2 months after I got in. make sure you get out of the contract 1 month before you want to vacate or they will charge you another month. They got me on that. Make sure you keep a lock on your door at all times. I took my lock off for one day at the beginning of the last month and they locked me out for the rest of the month and refused to refund me for the month. When you go in the lobby you will be greeted by an online "virtual manager" who was useless. Horrible customer service. Has to be one of the worse places to rent a unit from. Bad customer service and horrible pricing with 2 raises a year. New customers pay a little less than old ones, so loyalty is nonexistent. Management should all be retrained and reprogrammed to be better customer service reps. Took me 5 phone calls to finally get a call back and was basically told by their manager to leave if I don't like it. I just want to thank their horrible management team for motivating me to do my research and get another unit. I not only got another unit. It is double the size for a lot less than I was paying here. Went there yesterday to close my unit and there was nobody there. I wound speaking to a virtual agent. So, if this is the type of customer service you want and high prices. SCAM, this place is a scam! my rent went from 35, to 80 to 160! in a spam of 6 months, I didn't even see the notification of price increase, when I said I wasn't happy about it they just said if you don't pay you will send you to collection, you have to pay an extra month to be able to get out, this place is awful. read more

Stay away from this company! They are crooks! I was a customer for over 7 years. I gave 30 day notice for my unit, vacated, and cleaned the unit a week prior to lease termination. Notified the office my unit was empty and cleaned. Over a week later, they sent me a bill stating that my unit had items left in it and they were charging me a dumpster and lock fee. They have security cameras all over the property and they know that the items were not mine. I have called and can not get anyone to give me an answer on why they have allowed me to be falsely accused and charged for not vacating my unit. Over the years, I have had many units with them and I have never once left a unit with items in it or unclean. Ruthless crooks! They don't deserve a 1 rating. They should receive a negative because they are horrible! read more

Cheapest quote in the area so I took a chance & it was bait & switch. 5 months later rent started going up; it jumped from $190/mo to $210. I was in climate controlled & it was consistently in the 80's even though thermostat was set on 78. The AC was clearly not working correctly in that hall because it was blowing out warm air. The other halls of storage were notably cooler than the hall I was in so I contacted the office to let them know (including pic of hall thermostat) & they blew it off. It may be set on 78 but that doesn't mean AC it's working. I had medical supplies in storage so it was important climate control be as they advertised. My concern fell on deaf ears & I don't think they even investigated it. FYI they do not prorate rent so be sure to give your notice a full calendar month (before 1st) in advance so you don't get stuck paying another month after vacating. Meanwhile they don't hesitate to re-rent the unit collecting rent 2x's that month. Very crummy unilateral way to do real estate. The facilities are new & clean. Staff was nice however corporate bureaucracy is before customers. The Manager was dealing with an emergency & the other employee was helping me check in but was stressed because she was not allowed to "work overtime". You could tell she was trying to make a decision between helping me & the lady behind me (with a moving truck out front & nowhere to go with it) but she was worried she would get in trouble for staying over. It wasn't that she wasn't willing to help. What a ridiculous policy when you have customers standing in line & no one to help them. read more

Wow- I wrote a review in October and just thought I'd check to see if it was still here. IT'S GONE! This place is awful. They are overpriced and they give HORRIBLE service. Recently we went to get something out of our storage and we were locked out. After inquiring the next day, we were told that our credit card had expired. First, this is NOT true. The credit card has over a year before it expires. Second, we were paid in full and not due to be charged until the next day. Third, the woman was rude to us. There was no apology for THEIR mistake. We moved our things to another storage which is nicer, cheaper and more convenient! DO NOT USE THIS FACILITY! read more

I rented a unit from Midgard Self Storage in Springfield, TN. I was a tenant there for about a year. I moved out of the unit on May 4, 2024. I notified the company of a water leak in unit 335, my unit. They were aware of my no longer being in the unit. I filed an insurance claim for my damaged belongings, which I'm still waiting to receive. In the meantime, this company has been contacted many times and notified I had moved out. I have now been charged 2 additional monthly charges and I no longer have the property!! They have now blocked me from calling the local number. Blocked my emails and refuse to discuss this with me despite telling me I would get a full refund and acknowledge they were aware of my leaving the unit. I was also told the payment I had on file with them would be removed after the first payment had been fraudulently collected. Now a second payment has been collected to a unit I haven't inhabited in almost 2 months!! They texted me and told me they needed me to sign to have the lock cut off the unit because they lost the key. They assured me I wouldn't be charged for anything further. Yet this payment was collected. They refuse to give the payment back. They not only stole money from me. They have also committed insurance fraud. They approved my claim being paid out for the damages to my property. Yet they asked to remove the lock over theee weeks later! How did they agree they were at fault if they never even saw the inside of the unit? I only give a 1 because a negative wasn't listed as an option. read more

In December 2021, I contacted the office at brandentonlena@storesmart.org to let them know that was our last month. And, to let us know if there were any questions, comments, etc. The team never got back to us to let us know of a) any move-out forms or b) any issues with the unit. I used that method (i.e. email) to communicate because that is the email the online customer portal and all documentation pertaining to my lease list as the email contact information and how to get ahold of the office. We were on autopay and our card continued to be charged until May, which yes we should have realized we were still being charged, but human beings after moving sometimes miss some things. Which is why, in my termination of lease notice, I asked to be contacted with any questions, concerns or otherwise and provided my phone #. In May, our credit card was replaced and the one on file no longer worked. I started receiving alerts that my account was past due towards the end of May. I promptly replied saying we canceled in December and forwarding my notice back to the primary email listed in the online portal. I kept sending emails and getting no response. My account was continued to be charged during this time, plus late fees and eventually foreclosure fees. Eventually, in June, I spoke with someone who told me that a) they never received my email, which then they looked and found it and b) it didn't count because there was a lock on my unit. I do not not have the lock or key anymore. Because it has been 7 months since we vacated the unit. At this point, I told them to go ahead and cut the lock. Neither that or a termination of lease was applied to my account despite repeated communication and now speaking with someone on the phone. No additional information or forms were ever provided to me by Midgard to finalize termination or authorize a lock cutting. They just kept charging me. Again, no one reached out to me in December saying I needed to do anything further about my vacate notice. And, no one informed me of any issue with the unit at that time. The Midgard team abused access to my private credit card information on file and charged me an additional $800 via autopay. Even worse, in the 3 months since that card expired, my account has continued to be charged while the team has delayed response to my pleas over email and phone that I've canceled my lease months ago and have not provided any way of remediating the situation (e.g. send me an official termination of lease form immediately and cut then cut the lock off...and if that requires a form, send it to me) except for me paying them what is now an additional $1200 as they run the clock. I work hard for my money and try to do the right thing. I expect good businesses to do the same. This experience is outrageous. Worst customer service I've ever seen and an unprofessional staff who can't problem solve or follow their own guidelines in their contracts. I've now been told I'm officially in foreclosure and they are going to "sell" my empty unit. DO NOT RENT STORAGE SPACE FROM MIDGARD SELF STORAGE. DO NOT TRUST THEM. read more
