I moved out here for work and was looking to continue training BJJ. Brad Barnes and Midland BJJ have proven to be like a home away from home for me for the past year and a half. I've had the pleasure of meeting Brad Barnes 3 years ago when he donated his time and knowledge to teach junior high girls how to defend themselves. Again this year he took time out of his schedule to teach a free lesson for a women's shelter on how to defend themselves when certain situation arises. My son had been asking to go and work out at Bastos for weeks, I finally gave in after a friend said she'd go with him. He's hooked! The kids class is run by the same folks that run the adult classes. World champions! The coaches are a husband and wife team that love the sport and seeing kids succeed makes them truly happy. My son has never had to work harder and has never been as successful as he's been here. He has alway been shy, and a little bit of an introvert. He never finished anything. That's all changing. We've seen so much growth in him. He's slowly coming out of his shell. His first medal at his second competition really helped to keep him pushing forward.
