I had moderate implants placed 15 years ago. 8Months ago I went to Dr. Mooty to have implants replace. I wanted to go larger and I wanted Moderate plus. I also wanted the crease of my Right breast raised as it was slightly lower than the left. Dr. Mooty told me he thought high profile would give me the results I wanted. I explained that I really wanted moderate plus. He said he would try different sizes and profiles while I was in surgery and would use the ones that gave me the look I desired, he even told his assistant to order a few different sizes in the moderate plus, but it turns out the morning of my surgery, he popped his head in and said, "I decided I am going to go with high profile." He never even intended to try the moderate plus like I had asked. Then for some reason he put a larger Implant in my left side, which is already my naturally larger side. I really wished he would have discussed what he was thinking about doing before I went in to my surgery. I would have told him NOT to use a larger implant in my left side, if anything it should have gone in the right side. A month later I had to pay again to have the smaller implant in my right side replaced with an implant of the same size as my left, and he never even tried to fix the crease on my right side. He said it would be easier to lower the left crease to match the right, but he did not do that either. So approx. $15,000.00 and 2 surgeries later I still regret it so much. I came out of it with larger implants and thats all. My breast are nice, but not what I asked for. Dr. Mooty took no responsibility for any of it, and even told me, "I know women that would be jealous of your breasts." Unfortunately I was not getting them to make anyone jealous, but only to make myself happy, which I am not. I have waited 7 months to post a review because I know that there can be lots of changes in the months following surgery. My reason for posting this is not to bad mouth Dr. Mooty but to encouraged women to make sure they are truly being listened to and that they have the final say in what is going to be done.

I've been a patient of Dr Gutta twice now, the first time at his Midland office and the second time…read moreat his Odessa office. He removed an impacted wisdom tooth for me in 2015, and he removed a broken molar, did a bone graft, and installed a post for a future implant in December of 2020. He also removed a second (thankfully I only developed two) impacted wisdom tooth that was trying to dig its way into my sinus cavity on the same visit in December 2020. Both times, he has been happy to explain in detail what he was doing and why it was needed, what medications he was prescribing or not prescribing and why, and what he recommended for future treatment. He hasn't tried to push for any additional procedures, with the exception of a letter letting me know that he had started offering cosmetic surgery such as face lifts in 2016, about a year after my original visit. Yes, his work is expensive. So is every other oral surgeon out there. My first extraction with him, in 2015, cost a little less than $1200. My second set of extractions, bone graft, and post, in 2020, cost a little over $4300. The abutment that he'll do before it's ready for a crown is set to cost $220, and then another dentist will take over to do the crown. All of my visits have been done under anesthesia, since local anesthetics don't work well for me, so that's contributed to my costs. All of my dental work has been paid out of pocket as well, since I don't have dental insurance. Yes, he can be a little bit abrupt, and he is very blunt- he doesn't pull punches when explaining what's wrong or how you've contributed to the problem. I can see how some people might interpret that as rude, but he's never been rude to me. He told me flat out that if I don't take better care of my teeth, I'll end up needing more pulled or replaced, and it'll be sooner rather than later. I've never heard him yell at anyone, cuss at anyone, or berate anyone. Most surgeons have a degree of arrogance, so maybe I've just written it off as that, but I've had someone with me to drive me home after each appointment, and they didn't see any rudeness from him either. All in all, I feel that I've gotten solid care from Dr Gutta and his staff. Obviously I hope not to need his care often, but I have absolutely no hesitation recommending him to others, and I intend to use his practice in future if and when I need an oral surgeon again.

The pain continued, and when the tooth cracked in half, I was effectively denied care in what felt like an urgent situation until payment was made first. What may have been manageable with timely intervention ultimately progressed to needing an implant--leaving me with a far bigger and far more expensive problem to solve. The office manager was defensive and seemed more focused on protecting the practice than facilitating care or addressing a legitimate concern. When I got my credit card statement there were TWO charges for $263. I called them and they said they would try to figure out how to do a refund back to my card. I called again and they sent me a 'receipt' showing that they gave me the refund. Waited for the next statement. NOT on this one either. I called the credit card company and they gave no record of receiving a credit transaction for me from Body Focus! To this day I have not received my refund.
