First time going to this place and I was not disappointed. I've had previous work done by Al's, T&T, and Tint Zone. Ron is a kool guy and even though he works alone and takes about 2 hours to finish the job (5 windows) he has an awesome lounge area for his customers. He recently switched to Xpel tint films and after researching more about tint, the Xpel brand is solid. The TSER value is the "Total Solar Energy Rejected". That is the total energy rejected through glass expressed by "percent". I got a quote from a reputable shop for their "top of the line" Madico Black Pearl 35% ceramic tint for $280 with a TSER value of 30%. Ron's Xpel XR Black 35% ceramic tint is $320 with a TSER value of 59%! That's almost double the TSER value (the higher the percentage, the more efficient heat rejection). Other companies sell their comparable high TSER tint but at more than double the cost of Ron's. Also, my previous tint shops would leave their tint solutions overspray on your car, both on the inside door material and outside dripping below the window. When I got my car back from Ron, it was as if it was detailed! There was no evidence that my car was worked/tinted (aside from the darker windows of course). I've had two vehicles tinted here a 2014 BMW M5 and a 2017 Toyota Tundra. Ronald does amazing work not only tinting cars but his shop is truly impressive. Now that safety check is so strict that shops need to submit a photo of a car, passing with tint that is too dark is much more difficult (even for lenient shops). That said, my tint on the rear windows was too dark to legally (and reasonably in a photo) pass. I decided it was time to bite the bullet and have my car re-tinted with legal tint. I searched yelp to find some of the most reviewed tint shops, then went around to 5 of them to inquire about cost, time frame, options, service, etc. Ronald @ Midnight Tinting was the best of the bunch. Not only is his price great (keep in mind I had old tint removed as well as new tint installed), but his politeness and service is bar none. Somehow, regardless of whatever he is doing, he will stop and immediately greet you upon arrival and see what you are looking for. He offers several tint options for customers (i opted for ceramic). And, there is something about being able to speak with the person who will be tinting your car face to face, and see where they will be doing the job. His shop location is great, too. While he tints, you can scope out dave & busters, ward warehouse, etc. I was very pleased with my tint job from Ronald. However, after a couple weeks I still had one small spot/bubble on a window that I wasn't quite pleased with. I went back to his shop to see if there were any easy fixes to improve the bubble, and he immediately offered to take off the old tint and do it again. I went back a few hours later after his current appointment and he re-did the one window with no gripe or grief. He was very pleasant and it looks great now (remember, like he told me initially, for the first few days it may look like he didn't know what he was doing [lots of little bumps/bubbles], but after a few days in the sun it all disappears. his advice is spot on, give it a week or two!). I'm quite pleased with his service and will return to him for my future tinting needs and will also recommend him to my friends. I sure do wish the legal tint limit was 20%, but that's another story. If you're looking for great service, great quality tint (with a great national warranty), great prices, and a great location, Ronald @ Midnight Tinting is the way to go. They were able to get me in on my day off when someone cancelled. My appointment was at 5pm which is convenient for people who work. His shop is at the beginning of Sand Island and it's neat and clean, which is a good sign. Ronald said it would be about 2 hours and showed me to a nice A/C waiting room with a big screen TV. Pros: -Excellent installation and quality product. It's been six days since my installation and I haven't found any flaws. -Owner was quick to respond to my inquiry. -Very clean and organized work space. -Waiting room was equipped with comfortable couches, large screen tv, good sound system, and various streaming services. -The owner is a one man shop. He does everything himself: runs the business and does the installation all by himself. Impressive. Cons: -Owner took 3 hours instead of previously stated 1.5-2 hours to install the tint. Fortunately I wasn't in a rush to be anywhere. However, I would have appreciated an update from the owner at the 1.5 hour mark. -There were water drops and tint scraps inside my car after the installation. Conclusion: Quite possibly the cleanest and most professional looking tint shop on Oahu. The craftsmanship was excellent. Would have loved if the owner took the extra 10 minutes to wipe the water drops and clean up the tint scraps from inside my car. Was $350 for the entire SUV and extra $150 if you also want the front windshield. First thing noticed is that his shop is super clean, most shops are not. Definitely a plus for me.
