I have bought 3 handguns there. The guys that run the shop are very helpful and the prices are very good. I do suggest that if you are going to shoot there often that you buy a membership. I spent about 200 dollars on range time before I bought one. I read one review and the guy said that he waited 30 minutes and couldn't get help. I go in there about twice a week and have NEVER seen that happen. I have no complaints about this shop and I find the people there (customers and staff) more than friendly. read more

I want to give a HUGE shout out to the guys at this shop! It is intimidating enough to walk into a gun range/shop being a female let alone walk in after you dump your motorcycle in the parking lot! After I shot for a bit and went to start my motorcycle it would not start. The guys did everything they possibly could to help me get it started. They were so nice and very accommodating! They even allowed me to leave my bike there overnight until I could get it towed! Besides this group being extremely great the range was the cleanest one I have ever been in! The RSO's were so friendly and helpful as well...all of the guys went well out of their way to make me feel comfortable being there! I won't be going anywhere else to shoot I can tell you that! Very to happy to have found this place in RI tonight! The guys there are great, honest, friendly and professional from the guy selling you the gun, to the cashier and to the range staff. Honestly if your from providence just take the extra miles to get there (19 mins) because it is clean, and they have tons of stuff. They make you feel comfortable and I like the fact the gentleman let me really have a good handle on the gun which I didn't purchase tonight but informed my the next time I come in; I can rent it for $10 an hour to get a good feel before purchase. Hands down best range I've ever been to. Staff is all very nice and helpful. I've never felt looked down upon for being female. Offers different safety courses, one which I have taken that was very useful. I would definitely recommend Midstate to anyone. read more

MY GUY TOOK ME TO MIDSTATE at first I was like nooo way NOW I am working on buying my second firearm! THE STAFF very friendly very knowledgeable of all fire arms. I only trust my guy and the STAFF AT Midstate Gun company for all my firing needs. I am so comfortable there WOMEN should really learn ore about fore arms and MIDSTATE IS THE PLACE TO START for first timers ! I now have my daughter involved and she as well as myself loves it ! Prices are excellent range is clean and I am learning a great deal in the range and notice there are a lot of women coming in . LADIES if your reading this and thinking I dont know if I want to go. TAKE a leap and come on down check it out. you can rent fire arms to see if this is for you. If your coming in be sure to bring your licence as well as asking many questions is a most they are very comfortable with answering anything you want about fire arms! While I have nothing but good things to say about the range and the majority of the staff I've encountered, I feel the need to describe an incident that occurred while using their facilities. While shooting in the range (I had been there about an hour) one of the RSO's came over to my lane and decided to give me some advice. This, in itself, seemed harmless and I didn't want to seem rude so I entertained what he had to say. This is where the problem occurred. The RSO proceeded to pick my pistol up off the bench, drop the mag, rack it, and then the terrifying words, "OK, now just point it right at me" fell on to the ears of a now jaw dropped and speechless customer. He attempted to get me to comply twice more.Both attempts were, obviously, refused. He then instructed me, almost aggravated that I wouldn't point a weapon at him, to point it downrange and he will give his advice from there. It's worth mentioning that he simply advised me to cross my thumbs while shooting for unknown reasons--none of which even remotely require A GUN POINTED AT AN INDIVIDUAL! Many individual patrons were also directly flagged during the incident. Again, this is the only problem I've encountered here but if you run across a short, rather portly RSO--don't point a damn gun at him. read more
