I hadn't been to this mall in years. It's definitely not as bad as it used to be. I didn't get that creeped out feeling this time. There's some nice shops, an indoor farmers market and various booths running down the middle with some cute stuff. I went to Sears to check out the Lands End stuff. Why mail order when you can check it out in person? Good sales, very nice sales people and I need to go back to check out Steam Dot Coffee. If you haven't been to this mall in a while because you feared for your life, you owe to yourself to check it out now. It's a whole new world. ;) read more

This place is a wasteland. Its so weird how a perfectly centralized shopping mall with great parking in chilly Alaska is such a total failure. Horrible management? I see so much potential here. This place would make an amazing year-round boutique-y food market and restaurant stall mall. Butchers; fish mongers; international food stores; bakeries; produce stores; tea, coffee and spice shops; and a smattering of international eateries. But instead, this. mall. Is. VACANT. empty. Do not waste your time going here. Someone needs to seize upon this missed opportunity. read more

I just had hip surgery and got snowed in and have not been able to practice walking and finally came up with a great idea to mall walk at midtown mall. I parked close enough to a door to make it in safely and saw a cart in the hallway and was so excited cause I could not get my walker out of the car to come in. I began pushing it around the mall and was so happy until the 2 female security folks began harassing me. I tried to explain why I was pushing the cart and they didn't have an ounce of empathy and wanted to take the cart from me. when I asked if I could at least push it back toward the door where I was parked, they would not allow it. I felt extremely humiliated and both of them were very mean and angry and were trying to instigate conflict with me, they were bullying me. This saddens me as I have enjoyed past visits but probably will never return again. read more

I could have sworn I already wrote a review for this place so it must have been removed. Hmm. Anyway, this mall is really nothing noteworthy and only worth coming to for a few things. Although I wonder how much longer it will be able to call itself "The Mall at Sears" with Sears seemingly headed towards bankruptcy. There have been some improvements in recent years, namely the addition of SteamDot and BurgerFi, but you can enter both of those places without setting a foot in the main mall. The food court is awful (the hospitals in town have more options) and none of the stores are particularly good for browsing. Unless you're going to SteamDot/BurgerFi, the only reason it would be worth coming here is for the indoor farmer's market. Or if you have to visit GCI or AT&T, which really makes this mall feel more like a business strip mall than shopping mall. The mall has a lot of potential given its central location, but it makes poor use of its space. Some extensive remodeling would help, otherwise the stores are likely going to suffer a slow, painful death. read more

I feel like this "mall" has so much potential. It's a shame it's filled with shuttered or almost shuttered stores considering the size and location. Sears, closed. Payless shoes, closed. Cute popcorn place, closed (although a new one has opened in its place- can't remember the name I just remember eating the popcorn and cotton candy and then literally throwing up). Carr's, closed. Although they are reopening on the other end, it's not anytime soon. Only a couple phone stores standing as well as burger fi, steamdot (got moldy food from them once) and hallmark (has mice). Lemon tree is decent though and has lots of unique gift ideas. REI opened and is connected to the mall. Lots of gift ideas for your Alaskan friends and family from budget friendly to super expensive. Nordstrom rack is on the other end.... but NOT connected. You have to drive around the corner OR walk past the dumpsters and dumpster divers. Hopefully when Carr's reopens they will have a way to walk through to Nordstrom rack. Most times I've come with my kids I had to keep them close because of the type of people in the area, in the mall and in the parking lot. Lots of people high out of their minds or drunk. For now a better option is dimond center or 5th ave. read more

It's an okay mall, though I really only come here for the farmer's market and the occasional time I need to get my watch battery changed. There are plenty of little boutiques, a nail salon, and a couple of phone companies that are right across from each other. I will come again, though it won't be that often. read more

I can appreciate the Mall making improvements with remodels, hosting farmers market, and bringing in some newer shopping selections, but please please work on the food court - it's seriously lacking variety and BurgerFi is just over priced for a slider of a burger. And why not have a larger farmers market in the old Carrs space? Farmers, garden nurseries, and artists can fill such a space! And sure there's Sears and Nordstrom's Rack (no access from the inside the mall?! Really?!), but larger clothing stores at the 5th Ave Mall could have small store fronts at The Mall. Going downtown is not always convenient and The Mall still needs more variety - it would be popular! read more

Not much has changed over the pass 3 years, it's not growing much, other than remodeling Sears departments 3 times. Auto department gets a lot of traffic it there are too many times you walk in and see a line of 7 people and you just walk away, they're at getting people in and out. read more

This "mall" is definitely getting better with time. I used to work here in the early 2000's and there wasn't much here. But, with the addition of the food court and more stores this "mall" has become a convenient location to run errands. Its connected to the Carrs grocery store, has all of the major cell phone stores (AT&T, GCI, ACS), a Wells Fargo and a few neat shops. So, if you need to run some errands this is the perfect place to get them done, grab a bite to eat, all while getting your nails done and your brows. lol read more

Very small mall, but the environment is nice, and there is free wifi. It's a decent place to hang out, and there are a ton of merchants in the winter. The Santa is a little creepy on the commercials though. read more

The mall is improving. Steam dot, At&t are a plus. The new grand entry looks nice. The future Nordy's rack sound promising. The zombie population has reduced over the years, except on the west side of the parking lot by the bus stop on Denali street. The high powered security team is clearly doing their job. read more

I wouldn't call this a mall. It has a Sears, GNC, AT&T, Payless and some random carts. Oh yeah, 5 food express counters. It's more like a Sears shopping center. And unless you need something in particular from one of the above mention stores, don't bother. read more

Bought an appliance from Sears. It broke while under warranty. They scheduled someone to come out, but couldnt get anyone out for 2 weeks. Then he shows up 2 hours late, and says that they didnt schedule him properly and that he will have to come back with a 2nd tech in another 2 weeks at the soonest. After waiting on hold for 25 minutes, then being transfered 3 times, I got no where other than realizing that Sears customer service is terrible, and their tech / warranty dept. is useless. Oh, and the simple fact that I will NEVER do business with Sears again. I really mean never. So redicilous... read more

Daniel the salesman at the Sears Mall was so knowledgable that we ended up buying not only a washer we purchased the dry too. It's so refreshing to have the younger generation take their job seriously. Daniel did the extra homework and knew all of the products which helped me make the right purchase. The bike parking is laughable. Management should be ashamed. Very unwelcoming and unaccommodating to people riding bicycles.

Went there to buy a lawn mower after thirty minutes we of looking for someone to help us in that section we walk over to where the washers and dryers are and find someone. We ask them to help us and that we want to buy a lawn mower. They say oh that's not our section that's blah blah blahs section.... We're like ok where's blah blah blah and they go off just shouting they're name and asking other people if they have seen them. Ten minutes later a guy in sweats and a sweat shirt walks up and is like ummm did you need help. We were like do you even work here? He was just like yeah. Alright this is weird but whatever we just want to buy the damn lawn mower and go we go to checkout and ask for the military discount he's like oh it doesn't apply to garden... We're like mkay whatever. Then some other girl comes and says oh yeah we do offer a military discount on garden. Then they bicker amongst themselves and she pulls a picture up on her phone. And it's all said and done. Well we obviously want a gas can for our lawnmower and we can't buy the mower and the gas can at the same time so we go to the front desk to check out where there's one person ahead of us in line. The lady is on the phone helping someone else so we're both just waiting there. Five minutes later we're still waiting and another worker walks up to the desk sees we're both still in line ask the lady a question and then walks away. We literally dropped the gas can where we were standing and walked out. And while all this was going on another employee was just walking up and down the isles eating a hot pocket.... We only realized he was an employee after the guy who helped us who had no signs of being an employee walked up to him and asked him about his hot pocket and they talked about the break room. This Sears seems to be ran by a bunch of teenagers and no one seems to care about anything. I've never had to work so hard to spend my own money. read more

I love the Thai food at the food court. The Thai Tea is excellent along with the Chicken Pad Woon Sen.
