All workmen and sub-contractors were not only excellent craftsmen, they were courteous, respectful and cleaned up their mess daily. Lynn's knowledge base is exceptional. She is well versed in all the ins and outs of her industry. There was not a question she couldn't answer...standard size, distance between cabinets and shower, venting, lighting, how NOT to pick cabinets that are over-priced for the home they going into. What we found most helpful was Lynn's sense of design and color. Two ways to pronounce it: the Germanic way (correct), or the frenchified way (acceptable). My wife pronounced it the Germanic way. They lady corrected her in such a conceited and pretentious way - however she said it neither way. She did it in a poor attempt at the French one. Overall a good shopping experience if you don't have to deal with the one lady who will stick to you like glue, and acts rude to young people. Typically when we have to deal with her we cut our shopping experience short due to her being a bit much.

So perfect, you can't see a seam?…read more Five stars is not enough! A friend referred me to this local countertop shop. I had lived with new marble top installed by previous homeowner in my kitchen since I moved in 8 years ago. But.. the pattern was very busy, never had a nice sheen, and when I placed a clear drinking glass on it, you easily missed it? (You can't miss it in one of the pictures below.) First visit was to their Batavia facility to take home samples and discuss approximate costs with a very knowledgeable and personable staff. Second visit was to my home to measure. Third was at their site with templates of my layout on the actual slab so I could see the grain and seam alignment as it would appear in finished countertop. This was fantastic because as much as I loved the pattern I had selected, I did not like the way it would appear completed. With NO pressure at all, I was encouraged to choose from similar patterns on their many other slabs of quartz so I could get the look I wanted. Templates were placed on another choice and the veins looked like they would match close at the seam. Three professionals arrived promptly at 8am and departed at 11am (perfectly as promised) and the finished job was more than I ever imagined. I had to really search for the seam but could only feel it as it is perfect... can you find it in the picture? (HINT: blue post-its align on seam in second image.)

These guys are pros working with you every step of the way overlooking no small detail. Their showroom in Geneva actually is made up of their furniture quality cabinetry so that you can see what kind of potential pieces that you may want in your kitchen. They design and draw working with you and your architect to create a one of a kind design that you will just love to cook in. Since old houses are puzzles- putting a new kitchen in that looks like it had been there since the house was built- but has all the modern amenities was my goal. Dan McFadden and his team at Past Basket created an award winning kitchen for me that looks like it was part of the original house. The glass in the cabinets is wavy and old, the pulls on the doors worn looking, the armoire that hides my refrigerator and the cabinets that hide the modern day appliances all are functional as well as beautiful. No detail is too small for this team- in fact- they did such a good job on the kitchen- I also had them make the cabinetry for the family room as well as the master bathroom. They even solved my makeup lighting problem in the bathroom by creating lights that mimic the makeup counters at fine stores. They are also the only dealer for La Cornue stoves in the area. Once I saw one of these french works of stove art- I just knew it would be the centerpiece for my kitchen. Custom cabinetry may not be for everyone. After all- if you are not planning to stay in your home for awhile to enjoy it- there are certainly less expensive options around. But if you love to cook, and love the feeling of fine furniture no matter what room you are in your home- then go to Past Basket.
