We had the salesperson from GWFC out to our home to see the work we wanted done on our floors. Unfortunately, she selected the wrong type of wood for installation, which no one realized until the crew showed up to pull up our old carpet and install the flooring. The wrong wood had to then be removed, and the correct wood needed to be dropped off. Then rather than have us next in line to have our floors installed, which is what we would have liked in terms of customer service, they scheduled us another month out. This was terribly inconvenient because we had other home projects lined up with various cont based on the original timeline. Those projects are now all delayed as we await installation. Update: GWFC moved us up a week, so we're delayed three rather than four weeks. They also credited us $200. The floors themselves look terrific. The crew that worked on the floors were also very good. read more

The majority of the work was done in a timely manner despite the pandemic. Installers did a wonderful job with what they had to work with. The 3 rating was strictly for the salesperson overordering, not returning phone calls or texts, not informing crew of pianoing flooring, and definatly not correcting the mistake he made in ordering wrong wood for trim, which caused the color to be entirely wrong. Signed agreement July 13 and still waiting Oct 21st for work to be finished. Would love to support this small business as the rest of the crew seems genuine and professional. read more

We had a very mixed experience with Great Western Flooring. Pros: Easy to pick out our perfect flooring from a wide variety of options Quick and efficient communication regarding scheduling of installation MOST IMPORTANT: we LOVE the finished product -- our new floors are BEAUTIFUL!!! Cons: Arrived late on first day of install, which was only discouraging when they weren't finished with the job in one day, as we told/expected, luckily I have a flexible enough job that I was able to rearrange appointments and stay home again the next day for them to finish. Left front door wide open for nearly the entire install. The two days of installation were HOT days, so I empathized with them working in such grueling conditions, but even after asking them to keep it closed, the door was left open unless I was upstairs "babysitting" the project. This led to our house (most especially upstairs where they were working) getting upwards of 80+ degrees and our AC working overtime to cool back down overnight, not to mention lots of flies getting into the house. Between installation days: left a window open, had used the toilets in both the spare and master bathrooms and rummaged through our cabinets (which would have been fine, except they didn't flush the toilet), they left all their tools and supplies in the nursery, which was the only room they'd completed, and that would have been fine except everything was leaning against our newly painted walls and some of the paint did get chipped. After install: several dings and hand-print wall smudges in each room, the amount of dust and debris left on EVERYTHING (upstairs and on our first floor) was more than expected, the majority of our canned ceiling lights downstairs"popped out" and they workers obviously knew because they stacked some of them on the table, but left some of them on the floor. Drove through our lawn with their van, we have a narrow turn around in our driveway and they were driving a big van, I even parked in our "extra" driveway down near the street to give them a cleared out garage to work in and full access to the entire driveway, and still they drove in our lawn, and not just a little bit, but the entire van must have been in our lawn given the marks and mud it left. Over a week after the installation we still had heard no follow-up from Great Western Flooring about our feedback or satisfaction with the project, so I decided to follow-up and see if we could get some resolution as well as know when to expect final payment to go through. A day later we heard from our consultant who said she was headed on vacation but forwarded our issues to her associate a field manager. I waited another week with no communication and then followed up again, our consultant was still on vacation but the associate followed up saying we would hear from the field manager that day -- that was 4 days ago and we have still heard nothing (although we were charged the second portion of our payment). WE LOVE OUR FLOORS but the lack of communication and poor customer service experience will definitely have me looking elsewhere for any future work. read more

Worst customer service EVER. I was looking to get wood floors in my suburban home and was checking around to local stores to see pricing, selection and customer service. While the pricing was ok the selection was so so the customer service (if you can call it that) was horrible. I went in and everyone was in the back no greeting or anything. Finally this older blonde woman comes out and says can I help you...I tell her I am looking for a rather specific flooring, she ponders it for like 3 seconds and pulls out something and slams it on the floor (I am kind of surprised by this-it wasn't placed-why didn't she just throw it across the room and call it a day) and she gives me no addition information no pricing, durability-nothing. I ask her if she has anything without the hand scraping, she says no and walks away (she doesn't say like I'll be back or if you have any questions come find me or I would be more than happy to answer any other questions-she just walks away), and that is the last I see of her and she goes back in the back of the store and I never see her again. But before I realize that she isn't coming back I look around a little more and I want to ask her a question and I creep around to the back where she headed and still nothing...as I am about to leave a man comes out and as I am walking away he asks if I want help...I say no and I walk out....They can't even start a good sales relationship...do you really want them putting in your floors at your house...if their customer service says anything about how your floors will look...I have one word for you BAD...go somewhere else-It is a pretty store with nothing standing behind it. read more

We hired Great Western Flooring to refinish our wood floors. Originally the floors looked good, but that was a few years ago. It has been 3-4 years since they refinished the floors, and they look awful now. The floors are completely dull throughout (not just in sun spots). We called to see if there was anything they could do about this problem, they sent out a field rep. He tested the floors for too much humidity (there wasn't), checked the basement ceiling below the floors to see if any other problems were found (they were not). Finally he found no issues on our end that may have caused this, then he still stated that there was nothing they could do, which to me means they do not stand by their products or services. They were looking for any reason to blame us for their poor services. A manager called a few days later and said they could not help us, but they would be glad to come out and give us a quote to refinish the floors again. Absolutely unacceptable. I would not recommend this company to anyone! read more

Where have you been all my life? Seriously, the best flooring store in the Fox Valley and I have purchased from most of them. Julie is by far the best designer I have ever dealt with. My husband and I have remodeled most of our home and now we are adding on and I wish I would have found Julie earlier. She is organized, creative, and cares our my pocket book. She is very respectful of my time, communicates wonderfully with our builder, and even comes out to the job site to oversee the project on her own time. I WILL NEVER GO ANYWHERE ELSE ! read more

Everything about the customer service at Great Western is superb. From our initial visit to pick out the carpet to the installation. Julie, the manager, listened to exactly what we wanted/needed for our family room. She didn't try and sell us the most expensive, but the most practical for our needs. Installation was scheduled on the date we requested and the two installers arrived right on time (window was 8-12 and they were there at 8:05). They were both efficient and neat and more than willing to work around our electronics. They even cut out a 6x6 of our old carpet for our son's fraternity room next year, before pulling up the old carpet. Can't wait to do the stairs and loft next year! read more

I used this company once and wouldn't recommend them to an enemy. They gave me two estimates, one to replace my wood floor and one to refinish the existing one. Their representative told me the refinish was the way to go and the floor would look like new. It was a horrible job. Sanding and re-staining made it look worse and I couldn't even get the sales person to return my calls. Even the store manger was rude and said, oh well, sometimes that happens and you should have had it replaced. Worst customer service I have ever experienced and they don't even back up their own work. read more

I went here for tile and they had a unique selection of tile, carpet, and flooring. I literally went to every surrounding tile company including the chains in Aurora and the hardware stores. I couldn't find anything unique & perfect until I came here. Ellie was a wonderful saleswoman, she helped me pick out matching flooring & tile. She let me keep the sample as long as I needed to match with paint, etc.- which was 6 weeks. They are not pushy there at all, very accommodating. A great store for upscale tile, flooring, and carpet. Great Western Flooring just finished our new and beautiful kitchen porcelain tile floor. Our installer removed existing ceramic tile and sub floor before getting started. From start to finish our installer took great care in protecting our home both inside and out. He was with us for five days and each day he cleaned up his work before leaving our home. He did an excellent job. GWF was there for us from tile selection to the final day revealing our beautiful new floor. Their sales staff is second to none and true professionals. I had cherry and pine on the same floor.The pine was torn out and replaced with cherry..they refinished everything and made it look uniform and perfect.Sales, design and installation were good. Their installers are courteous and friendly. They remember that your house is your home. Their designers are energetic and enthusiastic with a great knowledge and love for the products they sell. I can talk all day about the things that they do well, but they already have plenty of customers that will rave about jobs they have completed...perfectly. This is a review from a customer where things didn't go well. When the job was done, we weren't satisfied. We had representatives at our house including the designer, the service manager and finally the owner. At the end of the day the entire organization proved that they are dedicated to customer service. You can use them without any reservation.
