A-1 Rental saved the day!…read more My daughter was scheduled to have her bat mitzvah in December. In Michigan. During a global pandemic. But this date had been scheduled for years, and changing it was not in the cards. Once the vaccines were available, including the ones for younger kids and boosters, we were cautiously optimistic about holding a smaller event indoors. Then the specter of Omicron raised its ugly head, and we reconsidered the wisdom and safety of pulling off such an event. With less than two weeks before the event, we decided to pivot and try to move it into a tent in our yard. In December. In Michigan. A-1 Rental was able to make it happen! Some other tent company told me they wouldn't even try to put up a tent in December. But A-1 sent a crew to my house to check out the property, assessed the largest tent they could pitch, and gave me a list of things to do before it could safely be installed. Namely that was to call Miss Dig and cut down a low hanging branch. The sales team was great and hooked me up with everything I needed, and maybe even things that I didn't need but I really wanted. They said one tent heater would be sufficient, but I wanted two. Plus I wanted a crap ton of extra propane tanks to run those bad boys. I have to say, tent heaters are magnificent! They kept us toasty in a tent that was well ventilated on a below freezing December afternoon. The day before our event, the setup team came within the scheduled window. Consulted with me about where everything should go, and got the heaters working. Actually, one wasn't working, but they sent another team to fetch a new one. The day of the event, one of the heaters still wasn't working, but a new crew came with a functional replacement. I don't think our guests even knew anything happened. We got to keep the tent for the whole weekend, which was rad. The propane supply held out. And the pickup crew took everything away as scheduled. No muss. No fuss. For those concerned about how everything worked out from a COVID perspective, we required everyone over five to be vaccinated, and provided rapid tests so everyone could check the morning of the event if they were contagious. We even sent some additional tests home with folks so they could retest before returning to their families. Everyone returned happy and healthy! And we could not have pulled this off without A-1. Thank you for the speedy turnaround and for working with this needy father on the verge of panic.

I traveled with the Seniors in Motion group from Detroit to Louisiana from June 7th to June 13th…read more Clarence Guyton was our bus driver on Bus #1, #24668. He was very personable and helpful to passengers as they disembarked. However, I have some suggestions for improvement regarding Clarence's performance. On June 7th, Clarence was supposed to pick us up at 8:00 a.m., but he arrived over an hour late. This forced the seniors to stand and wait for him. Additionally, the bus was not clean when it arrived, so we had to return to the bus yard for cleaning. This delay extended our trip by three hours, and we did not depart until after 12:00 p.m. I suggest that when a bus driver arrives for a pickup, they should inspect the bus. If it is not clean, they should report it and ensure it is cleaned before departure. During our journey, we made a stop in Ohio. Clarence instructed us to return to the bus by 2:45 p.m., but when I got back, the bus was locked. He didn't return for over an hour, forcing the seniors to wait outside in the hot sun. I noticed that the driver of Bus #2, Annerion Lewis, kept her bus open for passengers. When she went to get food, she promptly returned to keep her bus accessible, showing thoughtful consideration for her senior passengers. On June 9th, we were scheduled to visit Mardi Gras World, and the Seniors in Motion director reminded Clarence about the importance of being on time for our tour. However, Clarence arrived an hour late again, showing up without any apology. He delivered an emotional monologue about needing to prioritize his rest because of a past car accident that resulted in 34 pins in his body. While his story may have been sincere, it felt unprofessional to play on the seniors' emotions, especially given that he was late again the next day. Because of his lateness, we lost an hour of our scheduled time at Mardi Gras World, which was unfair to us as paying customers. At Boomtown Casino, Clarence was supposed to pick us up at 8:00 p.m. to return us to our hotel. He stayed inside the casino while all the seniors waited outside. After 30 minutes, he finally arrived to open the bus at 8:30 p.m. On June 10th, despite being reminded once more that he needed to be on time for a tour at the Free People of Color Museum, Clarence was still 30 minutes late picking us up. He would always make excuses for his tardiness rather than offer apologies. This caused additional disappointment, as tour guides at various locations commented on our lateness and mentioned that we would miss parts of the tour. The presenter at the Free People of Color Museum had to cut her presentation short, and we only received 30 minutes of a tour that we had paid for, which was supposed to last an hour. After her presentation, we only had 5 minutes to view the artwork in the museum, which was not enough time. On a more positive note, I want to commend Annerion Lewis, the driver of Bus #2. She was incredible and consistently thoughtful. She kept her bus open, ensuring the seniors wouldn't have to wait outside in the heat. Annerion went above and beyond by providing water for her passengers and even assisted those who were not on her bus, including my mom. Everyone praised her professionalism and attentiveness. She truly provided top-notch service and made the trip more enjoyable for the seniors.

I did like that there is a bathroom right in the hall so my son didn't have to go far. Although food and drinks were located at one end of the hall and once we got to our seats it was hard to get back over there once the place filled up with people. They had meet and greets with some of the performers and they just had them at tables along the walls. You could pay right there for a picture or autograph. Wrestling is more my husbands thing, but even I really enjoyed the show. Although the chandeliers above the ring made me nervous! Lol.

She did a great job hosting and we were so very pleased with the whole event and the way things went. When we arrived, we carried our stuff back to the big party room on the right side and then I took my kids to use the restroom... When I got out, Marissa and my husband were already setting everything up and I loved how she knew what she was doing and took initiative to get the job done. I was nervous about having only 15 minutes to set up before our guests arrived (I asked them to come at 10:45am to avoid waiver signing delays, etc.), but the whole room was set up and looked fantastic for the party! I also wanted to mention that every time I called with questions prior to the party, (which was about 4-5x's), everyone I spoke with was so helpful and they always encouraged me to call back with any questions I had. I just felt like this party could not have gone any better, really... and I'm so grateful to all the staff at Bounce It Up for truly helping us to make my son's birthday so special for him.
