Excellent! I had a wonderful experience from start to finish. The initial consultation was very informative. Everything about the various types of windows was thoroughly explained. I was treated with respect And not like just another sale. Production took a little bit longer due to current happenings, but as soon as my order was out of production, I was called to schedule installation. The installers showed up on time and diligently worked to make sure everything was done properly. When they were done they showed me what they completed. The windows look amazing! Had an appointment for 10:00 and estimator didn't show. Called the business and they said they called to confirm my appointment and they couldn't reach me. Looking at my phone, I see their called was marked as potential spam, which I never pick up on these types of calls. Talked to the owner who said it was their policy not to show up for an appointment if it isn't confirmed. I asked what they are confirming and the owner said it was the address and what service I needed. I had rebooked for next Monday and even though I told the guy the address and service required (what is why they have to confirm) he said I still needed to answer their confirmation call on Saturday or Monday. I understand why there are so many 1-star reviews. The owner goes out of his way to not wanting to do business with customers. Steer clear of this business. read more

Prices, customer service . Everybody is not on the same page. I had 3 different answers to the same question.

Started out so well....how did it end up like this! Our place was in desperate need of new windows--this is the type of purchase that you don't act on your impulse. Usually, the Yelp community rarely fails when it comes to recommending their best. Unfortunately, our experience did not live up to our expectation. We started the process of ordering windows back in January. The sales rep was incredibly kind and professional--the way he approached our order instilled confidence that all would work out the way it should. We put down our deposit without hesitation and were quoted for windows to come out of production somewhere between 6-8 weeks. Fair. Let's accept the lagging production time during these CoVid days. We were told at time of deposit that we had 3 days to cancel the order or else we'd forfeit our deposit--it was clearly laid out in the contract. We noted. Early March about 5-6 weeks later we receive a call, and I initially thought that they call to say that our windows were done and wanted to schedule an install date. Nope! Instead, the office admin called to say that they had issues with getting a hold of our HOA for approval but didn't want to get the client involved. Um, what?! I understand not wanting to be bothersome, but after a few failed attempts, you would imagine that you would at least let your client know that there have been roadblocks preventing them from moving forward. I was shocked that they had waited over a month to tell me that, but I cooperated and tried to be of help and got them connected to our HOA. After much back and forth, our HOA ended up not approving the proposed windows, and Midwest Windows would not order/install without HOA approval. We were back at square one and tried to ask them what to do and of we could cancel the order, the owner verbally slipped and said that we could lose our 33% deposit since it was out of the 3-day contract term. UM.... EXCUSE US! We weren't even informed about the office not being able to reach out HOA until over a month later! How would we have known that it wasn't going to work out when we weren't even informed about the progress or lack thereof. During this very frustrating time, every time I'd call the office, no one was able to given me an answer and that I'd have to wait for the owner who happened to not be in the office for an extended period of time. Not sure why there weren't other ppl who could have helped with our order issues. The office admin who had been working on our order seemed curt and annoyed every time I called. Fast forward 8 months later...EIGHT! (Was quoted 6-8 weeks) we finally were scheduled for install. Installers were late (arrived after hours...no masks worn). And the installation quality wasn't anything to write home about. Messy caulk everywhere, frame not painted (to be fair, they did tell us that they don't paint them) but it did look dirty. I'm disappointed. Windows aren't cheap and we decided to not go with a big box store to support local business and expected better customer service than say Lowe's. read more

On January 17, 2024, I had a conversation with a representative from Midwest Windows & Doors. During our discussion, she informed me about their ongoing promotion for purchasing 5 or more windows at a fixed price of $800 per window, depending on the measurements. This offer seemed like a fantastic deal, so I decided to schedule a meeting with a representative to get an estimate for 6 windows. The representative which is the owner ( Steven Cotton) who visited my home was very helpful, but when I inquired about the promotion, he stated that each window would cost $900. Although I should have ended the conversation at that point, I continued discussing my requirements with the representative. After finalizing the order for 6 windows, the total amount came to $6600. I requested a breakdown of the costs, and the (OWNER)representative informed me that three of the windows required grids, which would cost an additional $350 per window. However, upon reviewing other estimates, I noticed that grids were priced between $90 and $120 per window. Therefore, my total should have been slightly under $5200. However, the (OWNER) SALE representative had quoted me a total of $6600. Feeling dissatisfied with the situation, I contacted the manager (please note I didn't know Steven was the owner until after reading a few reviews) to discuss the issue. Unfortunately, the manager was not helpful and only offered to cancel my contract. Frustrated with the lack of assistance, I decided to proceed with canceling the contract. read more

These guys are AMAZING!!!! After having some 5-star crappy experiences with a handful of other window and door companies, I as pretty thrilled when it seemed like they actually had a professional CRM sales process. Most of these window and door companies are run by contractors, that know the trade. But have almost zero knowledge about a ran a modern day professional sales experience and crush it. These guys do! And we the customers get to benefit while they are probably silently siphoning business away from all of the other companies run by flunkies. Steve came out the next day, gave me a quote on the spot. I signed the contract, gave him a deposit and three weeks later my new patio door was installed. The install crew was dope AF, the two man crew spent almost the entire day installing the new patio door and did an amazing job. Great craftsman, excellent attention to detail. Ohhh, and they were also the lowest priced option by a considerable amount. Signed a contract with them November 9th to replace a window that's been leaking and another two that are incredibly drafty along with an exterior door; they quoted 6-8 weeks. 3 months later, absolutely no communication from them. No apologies for the lateness, no updates as to when these might be installed. I finally got confirmation from them last week (16 weeks later, double the estimated time) that everything was ready to be installed. I have to say, the installers were great. They took their time and the door and windows now look beautiful and don't seem to be bringing any air into the house. I wish I could review them separately, because they were fantastic. I'm not happy with the lack of communication from the office regarding the delay. No apologies, no check-ins or updates. Nothing. And when I called myself to check on things in January, I got a bit of a snarky response with them saying that they'll call when they're ready and they seemed reluctant to provide me with an update. Overall, I'm glad I have new windows, but I'll probably go with someone else next time. read more

This company has been extremely difficult to get a hold of and they don't ever follow up when you finally are able to get a hold of them. I had windows installed by them back in September. When I bought the windows in may they told me 8 weeks to install and I had to follow up tight them weekly once the 8 week window passed, they never once called me to tell me about a delay or possible eta. Now the windows have been installed and Ive had to recaulk them because the installers didn't seal the entire window frame. I've also had an issue with one of the windows not opening correct and when I reached out to them to address it they once again didn't follow up. I honestly have no idea how he does business or with who. We had Steve come to our house to give us an estimate, he spend an entire hour in a Friday afternoon talking to us and taking "notes" about what we wanted. We were looking forward to working with him because we really want to support black owned businesses whenever possible, however, this time definitely not going to happen. We asked him to give us a ballpark figure of the cost before he left and he instead said he could give the exact price. He sat there and took his time calculating everything and came up with a quote. I stupidly showed excitement with the quote and could see on his face that he realized he could've charged more. I thought maybe I was being paranoid and decided I'll just wait for the quote. Almost two weeks pass by and I had yet to hear from him, which I thought was odd, but I sent an email anyway saying we would like to move forward with him and asked him for the estimate in writing. Of course he responded by saying that he made a Huge error with the price but that he was still giving us a good deal. The estimate wasn't that much higher than originally quoted but it was still disappointing. It felt unprofessional, which there were many unprofessional things he did but ignored, but as a business owner that's not how you handling a "mistake". Anyway, I still was willing to give my business and responded simply asking for him to give a more detailed breakdown of the estimate and to clarify some things that were incorrect (to which I went ahead and did for him, but he still needed to talk it out and try to confuse things). I didn't even make mention of the quote change. He followed up with a phone call, which had a weird vibe to it because he was trying to prove me wrong, and to which I wasn't wrong, I live here, I know what windows I want replaced. He kept misspeaking and didn't like that I was paying attention? We scheduled for him to come back one more time to clarify some things and he came it in very defensive, again, trying to prove himself right. He clearly printed out the clarified detail of things needed done that I already provided to try to go off of and was still wrong. My husband and I were not rude or aggressive, we were just frank. We told him that we didn't a appreciate a few of the things he did and he then got even more defensive and emotional and stormed out. He felt "threatened" by us and said he would take his business elsewhere. He said I had an attitude in the email and on the phone that he didn't appreciate. I guess he only does business with idiots that he can walk all over? I'm glad I followed it the whole way through just to be sure that he's the unprofessional and incompetent. Steve Cotton came out, was on time, polite, professional and patient with us as we had a few questions. All questions were answered. He had samples of the product we were interested in and he stepped through each piece of his presentation throughly. His pricing was competitive, his product was compelling, his work guarantee and warranty was on par with other vendors. Tipping point, he made us feel like he truly wanted the business, did not talk about how busy they were and how many customers are calling him each day for his product. No feel of a gimmick, no pressure, no stories about "if you buy today, x y z". Steve's style is one of partnering, he makes you feel totally comfortable with him and you fee like he is committed to the business and will ensure if anything goes wrong it will be addressed. Steve came out to give me an estimate for replacing my storm security door and sidelight security panel. One of the first things he asked was if I had tried using steel wool to remove the peeling paint. I had not, thinking it would be more work than I wanted to do. The door was in pretty good shape otherwise. I decided to try Steve's suggestion on a small section before making a decision to replace. It worked far better and was so much easier than I had anticipated. I sincerely appreciate Steve's honesty and his refusal to try to make a sale when there could be another solution. When he made a follow-up call a couple of weeks later to see if I had made a decision, I told him that I had tried his suggestion and it was going to work. He graciously expanded on the method for completing the project, including making sure that I bought the proper paint for metal. Quite disappointed in my experience with Midwest. It started with the quote, during which I was told I had to sign the contract and pay 30% on the spot or I wouldn't get the price I was quoted. Not what I was expecting, but I went with it. Jump forward I get contacted to schedule my install. I'm given the time frame 12-2pm. I unfortunately couldn't be home, so enlisted a proxy to sit at my house during the installation. I get a call at 1 letting me know there is an issue at the previous location so we have to reschedule. Because of the lengths I went to have someone available, I say that's not acceptable. I'm told they will be there by 4pm. 6:30pm, the installer finally arrives. I asked if he would prefer to reschedule as it's now quite dark and late for a 2 hour installation, and I don't want a half done job. He says no and proceeds. The windows themselves are nice, but the woodwork around my windows is completely torn apart. They put the woodwork back on with pretty big nails, so there are holes everywhere. I did get a follow up call where I was basically told they did all they could, and other companies would have never been as accommodating as they were (my salesman constantly told me how much better they were than other companies). Glad my transaction with them is done and am hopeful no other issues arise. read more

We replaced all windows in my house and the patio door in Early 2016 . Steve Cotton was the representative who sold us the windows. Yes they were somewhat cheaper than 2 companies I've asked for quotes but I will not get them If I've known I will have a sub par windows from bad installation and bad customer service. We believed in Steve's presentation and took Midwest for my house windows replacement ( ~16 windows + 1 patio) The windows probably were good but proper installation was not done. My husband asked if that is " normal " that they do just placed/inserted teared pieces of fiberglass insulation around the window and not foam and they said yes. We thought it is not a big deal. This is our first house so we didn't know about anything until our contractors who remodeled our the house and place casings around the windows mention it. We still thought it should be okay but on the winters that came by, we feel a lot of draft coming out on all windows when my hands are placed on the window casings. WORST was on the new patio door , a lot of draft coming in when we had a colder winter 2017-2018 .In 2017 ( spring and fall) we had series of thunderstorms, we had a leak on the same spot every time we had a continuous rain that was directly below the patio door ( our basement is unfinished , we have a clear view of the joist below the patio door ). When the weather was good, we inspected where the water coming from, its highly likely coming on both sides of the door where it meets the wall, where if insulation is not done properly then water will came in. We contacted first their web site where you can request service but I did not get any answers, after 2-3 emails Steve Cotton contacted us. We were patient since we can't just remove the patio door and return it. As he promise a guy came out to look at the problem .The only issue was the guy was not a contractor nor installer but a representative of the patio door manufacturer. He mentioned that the door was fine and might be a installation issue so we have to resolve it with Midwest instead. Of course there's nothing wrong with the door itself but the way it was installed!! So he said he will let Steve know and they should contact us. Weeks have came by and did not hear anything. We contacted Steve because we have a time line with our basement finishing .He will answer back with promises . Its going on for at least 2 months now and we keep stating we are in the having contractors to finish our basement this spring and will have to close off the walls in the basement WE WANT IT FIXED before then. We did not heard from anyone from MIDWEST noR from Steve who gave wonderful reviews for their installers initially ( who by the way are 3rd party contractors). All the windows and patio door have still warranty. Unfortunately, The only way for me to get this thing resolve ( hopefully) and Midwest attention is to file a complaint to BBB and give my bad experience to social network reviews. We should have done our homework and invested our money in another window company. BRING YOUR HARD EARN MONEY SOMEWHERE ELSE IF YOU PLAN TO REPLACE YOUR WINDOWS AND DOORS. read more

SHORT REVIEW: Avoid this company -- if you are an educated consumer who does her/his due diligence before making a decision, its not worth your time to schedule and have a visit with Midwest to get an estimate. I lost an hour and a half of my life I cannot get back. As our visit for the estimate winded down, the sales rep we had gave us a complete run around to tell us that "we'll work out a good price in the future" and he unequivocally refused to provide us with any sort of actual estimate until we agreed we'd be doing business together. So baffling! (And false advertising might I add -- "free estimates"...guess not in my case!) I've worked with a lot of contractors/companies to get bids on home remodeling projects over the years -- from total kitchen rehab to painters to hardwood floor installs to HVAC systems and more -- and I've never encountered something like this in my life. THE DETAILS OF OUR INTERACTION: We scheduled an appointment with a company representative named Cory (who later told us he was also the company's VP) to come out and give a "free estimate" -- as advertised. I'd like to stress that Cory was a very nice, decent man -- but his sales strategy is what was baffling. We spent the first hour of the appointment going over our needs and wants/ discussing options and preferences. Scope of work included 3 exterior entry doors, 2 windows, 1 sliding glass patio door. Cory seemed pretty knowledgeable and that he wasn't trying to oversell us, even suggesting some alternatives instead of total replacements since things were working properly - we were just looking to modernize/freshen the look. Then he asked if we could sit at the kitchen table to write up and go over an estimate. Still going good. Up until this point I had a good feeling about the options and thought this company seemed pretty good. However, once we sat down and Cory started filling out a form for our estimate, that's when the nonsensical run around began. It ultimately ended with the conclusion he would absolutely not provide us a quote tonight. ***First he asked to confirm our project timeline. We said sometime in the next two months, we were ready now. He told us it could take 6-8 weeks before they could schedule (with the time needed for ordering and their crew also having a busy summer). Ok, that's fine we said, we can do it whenever as soon as reasonably possible. Then he said if we didn't do the work for awhile, he couldn't give a quote today because the price he would give us today wouldn't necessarily be the price when his team would be ready to schedule the work. We told him we didn't understand and there was some circular talk about how busy he was and he needed to prioritize his time (between sales calls and "on top of working 60 hours in the office" every week). Umm? OK? We didn't follow that... ***Then we noticed he was looking at our kitchen wall calendar with appointments the following day with 2 of their competitors. That launched him into a sales pitch first of why they are better than those companies (ok, fine, expected that to happen). But then he said it would be better if we called him after we met with the other companies in order to get his quote. We just spent the last hour going over our wishlist...why couldn't we get a quote now? We pressed him why it was so odd for someone to do their research before making a decision, and whether he wanted us to see the other quotes first so he could beat their price? He said no, no that wasn't it. Then he said that it was very unusual for someone to get more than one quote -- even rattled off some statistic about how 80% of his customers get only his quote and don't need to evaluate other options because they are superior. He continued on that he wouldn't provide us a quote until we knew we wanted to work with his company. We said we were disappointed that we scheduled this visit in order to get a free estimate (AS ADVERTISED ON THEIR WEBSITE AND MARKETING MATERIALS THAT THEY PROVIDE) but now wouldn't even get an estimate from him? ***Then he said it seemed like we were undecided about what options we wanted. We pressed for clarification, what did we need to decide on before he could give a quote? He then went on about how we possible wanted an 8 panel or a 6 panel door for the entry (which earlier he told us would be the exact same price) - so we made a decision and told him let's go with the 8 panel. He hesitated again and then launched back into the 80% of his customers don't need more than one quote. At that point, we basically asked him to leave. Again, nothing against Cory personally - he seemed like a very pleasant, nice guy. He just had a very weird/passive aggressive sales approach and refused to give us a quote -- the whole reason he came to our house. Sorry I do research and won't get pressured into making a quick decision? There went an hour and a half of our lives we can't get back. read more
