    Tomatoes from the garden with rose and bergamot

    The service here was impeccable, the food was outstanding, but the wine pairings were really remarkable - the wine and food really enhanced each other in a way I don't normally experience. I'm vegetarian and my boyfriend is not. We both had excellent meals and the vegetarian versions were very well-considered. Service started with a glass of champagne and some small bites on the patio overlooking the garden, which was lovely. The only choice you need to make is how many courses and how much wine you want. And I love that they offered a small version of a wine pairing, which essentially meant a glass every other course. The restaurant has few tables, so you really are well looked after and it feels intimate. I can't imagine why this restaurant doesn't have any Michelin stars!

    My complete menu.

    5 stars are very little! Beautiful scenery, amazing décor, super helpfully and friendly staff... and food that words are poor to describe! It's a truly unfair that there is no Michelin star awarded to this restaurant. I was there at a companies event and we were served four amazing dishes, each accompanied with appropriate wine to enhance the taste. Hands down best culinary experience I've ever had!

    My partner and I truly enjoyed our unique luncheon at Mielcke & Hurtigkarl. This is one of the most beautifully refined eccentric restaurants in the world. When we visited, the weather was lovely and warm; we were seated outside on their lovely patio overlooking a section of a large park maintained by The Royal Danish Garden Society. The modern Danish cuisine served at M. & H. is really novel, especially, the absolutely outstanding dessert creations by Chef Jakob Mielcke. I've never had such weird AND wonderful desserts. Wine pairings were just as quirky and fun as the cookery - with all sorts of offbeat gems sourced from mostly unfamiliar wine regions of Europe. The service itself was timely, professional, yet, still friendly to the core. The playful décor inside is literally off-the-wall, perfectly suited to the whimsical nature of this establishment. (Gents, get ready for the restroom, it is a giggle.) All in all, M. & H. is seriously underrated. In many ways, this is the most artfully unique restaurant in Copenhagen.

    Great start!

    I didn't really know what to expect when I came here since the chef couldn't totally explain the food to me a few months earlier but I am actually glad he didn't because it was SUCH an adventure! The location is cozy in Fredericksberg Have which is a great start with green everywhere, a cute little terrace and fireplaces. It's a a nice option to start and end the meal. We had the full course menu with wine pairing. To the start, the champagne blew me away. Always good to start with good champagne, a 2005. Next onto fresh carrots and greenery from the garden. It was an array of flavored, colors and textures. We had squid noodles with sesame flavored shaved ice, a fish dish with tuna powder, a "breathing" Japanese style dumpling wtb squid on the inside, amazing chicken dish with green peas...every course was better than the next with he beat surprises. However, it was toward the end where I really lost it. A course inspired by Swedish breakfast where you can get this amazing melted cheese dish with fresh shaved truffles, served with jam, and little croissants that have been made with...wait for it...truffle butter! Pure heaven! An amazing raspberry dessert dish with so much flavor and then onto the grand finale...popcorn flavored ice cream.! I can now die happy. And a special shout out to the staff. They are a well oiled machine. Everyone knows where they need to be, and when. It's a talent when servers can be so perfectly timed and can always be at the right place at the right time while you don't even notice they are there. I am SO impressed and cannot wait to come back! You are definitely in for a ride of flavors and will be taken all around the world. Do yourself s favor and get the whole shebang. Totally worth it!!!

    This taste as good as it looks, melts in the mouth.

    Got to be one of my top ten restaurants, went with my girlfriend and we fell in love from the first course. the food was so elegantly presented and perfectly prepared. a must for anyone looking for a amazing night out with food that your eyes and palate would wake up and jump too. highly recommended.

    service was nearly flawless, each dish and wine was explained to us patiently (and in english), and the presentation was beautiful without being too pretentious. the 8(!!) amuse bouches were making me hungry for more... the first one looked so deceptively simple; a piece of pork belly wrapped in a perilla leaf with a sauce. each time i chewed, a new flavour surfaced like a ridiculous food inception. in almost all the dishes, meat plays a secondary role; letting the local, seasonal produce come through as the stars. one dish of the six-courses was 'sand herbs' foraged from the beach, served in a lobster consomme with thinly sliced veal tongue. it just looked like a handful of weeds on my plate, to be honest... but the taste was surreal. during a lull in our dinner, we were granted our request to see the kitchen. a nice finish to our meal! they even emailed us a copy of the menu in english over the following weekend, as their printer wasn't working the night we were there. if you can afford the price tag, this meal is definitely something to be experienced. my tastebuds were nearly burnt out after this meal, it was such a sensory overload! how this restaurant does not have a michelin star is beyond me.

Luckily, we were able to make a reservation for dinner for the next day! There is an option to go for a la carte or a pre-fixe menu of 4-6 courses. We opted for the 4 course which had a cured haddock, mussel soup with scallop, a stuffed cockerel and dessert. I paid the supplement to upgrade the main to a Hake. Overall, the food was delicious; the ingredients tasted fresh and paired well together but nothing was mind blowing. We did think the mussel soup was a bit too salty. I particularly liked the Hake, which was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside (I had Hake a few days prior and it was on the drier side so was a bit worried) - and particularly enjoyed it more than the cockerel! I also really liked the dessert - there were so many components to a simple looking dessert and everything was so tasty :) Service was just okay. The one thing to note is that they charge a service charge for credit card which isn't clearly stated on the menu anywhere. When we saw it on the bill and asked the waiter, she didn't seem to be fully understand it either but it is what it is

The first 2 courses (halibut and soup) were amazing and refreshing. The main course (my colleagues had cod and rib eyed, not pictured). My brisket was nicely cooked but nothing surprising. I tried the mushrooms on top of my colleague's rib-eye, I enjoyed the mushrooms more than the protein. Quite pricey as stated by other reviews...especially if one doesn't want mixed couse meal.

Incredibly well thought out food - locally foraged and harvested ingredients. A beautiful bounty of Scandinavian ingredients, manipulated with the utmost precision. Chef presented several of the courses - inspiring to hear the descriptions from the creator himself and he was so authentically engaged when we peppered him with questions. At the end of the night it was a bit challenging getting a taxi back - even Chef got involved in the process. The humility and graciousness, stunning. All memorable and fantastic. Chef Alan Bates was pretty good in conversation. But, the food just didn't hit the mark. I was there lunch time and ordered 5 course menu (they only have that for lunches, otherwise you can go for more traditional 9 course menu). The trout tart looked beautiful, didn't have much of wow factor in taste though. The pasta dish was good with ton of truffle shavings. The main meat dish was not at all there. I mean it was cooked nice but there was a side of tempura made from pig-brain if i remember correctly, and it was pretty bad!! Not fried well, was chewy and the fried batter coating got badly stuck on my teeth! Dessert was good.

I went for the venison, with whipped potatoes and berry compote. The venison was past tender into soft --- good, but not what I was hoping for. My wife got fish, with a salmon-spinach souffle, some fennel, shrimp, fried potatoes, and a good helping of creamy sauce. We started with a soup --- translated for us as "like carrots, but white," which we think was parsnip --- that was creamy and rich, but still nicely light. The house red wine was good --- but the house white was absolutely amazing. You have to try it. The meals were quite good, but didn't manage to be as memorable as the experience;

Lots of folksjust hanging out for some drinks and people watching. For this they had high chairs and baby friendly. The service is great. They give of the air of not GAF but are actually attentive and charming. Food came or relatively quickly on a Friday night which was good with a hungry child. Funnily everyone comes into the restaurant, loclas and tourirsts alike, acting confused where to sit or if there's a queue and after a dramatic pause the barkeep tells them to sit wherever and right on. The food was good. The menu looks very basic and doesn't do the food justice. The 3 salads accompanying each meal are listed without description or fanfare. You don't know which ones you'll get. We got four different ones in combination for two entrees. Even the chicken satay we ordered for our little one came with two salad sides. Two out of four were great, the others bland. Each salad is about 1/4 of a cup, fairly small. The sesame seaweed with ginger and heirloom tomato salads rocked. The guacamole (really just smash avocados without seasoning) and cabbage salad (no dressing, plain with two honeyed almonds on top) were uninspiring. We got the Manilla tofu and beef lasagna as the main dishes. The Manilla tofu was cooked just right with great sauce and an ample portion of protein compared to your average Nordic experience. The beef lasagna was decadent. It was more reminiscent of mousaka than lasagna, cheesy, pillowy, creamy, and very thin Al dented pasta. Not a whole lot of meat but very flavorful and filling. The drink list was pretty good. I had a nice primotivo for only 55 Kr. Whole bottles are reasonable finds at good prices. They also serve half bottles I'm carafes. Good brew selection too. Prices were fair for the fare. Much less expensive than many surrounding restaurants. Overall, great spot. Good to hang or eat. Not pretentious but just good enoufh food.
