This is a small, vegan restaurant. We are not vegan, but after several days eating out at restaurants with few vegetables on the menu, we decided to give it a try. The food was delicious! I had a stuffed sweet potato, and my husband got the burrito, which was full of beans and salsa, and came with guacamole and a side salad of shredded carrots and cabbage. Lovely grime-y Euro-comfort food with blues on repeat. The decor and atmosphere is certainly blues inspired but run by hipsters. It's grime-y in a charming way but stay away if any grime bothers you. It's dingy on the inside with some nice sidewalk seats, but reeks of old cigarettes either way. Lots of folksjust hanging out for some drinks and people watching. For this they had high chairs and baby friendly. The service is great. They give of the air of not GAF but are actually attentive and charming. Food came or relatively quickly on a Friday night which was good with a hungry child. They were happy to explain things on the menu and even suggested a few things for substitution. Funnily everyone comes into the restaurant, loclas and tourirsts alike, acting confused where to sit or if there's a queue and after a dramatic pause the barkeep tells them to sit wherever and right on. The food was good. The menu looks very basic and doesn't do the food justice. The 3 salads accompanying each meal are listed without description or fanfare. You don't know which ones you'll get. We got four different ones in combination for two entrees. Even the chicken satay we ordered for our little one came with two salad sides. Two out of four were great, the others bland. Each salad is about 1/4 of a cup, fairly small. The sesame seaweed with ginger and heirloom tomato salads rocked. The guacamole (really just smash avocados without seasoning) and cabbage salad (no dressing, plain with two honeyed almonds on top) were uninspiring. We got the Manilla tofu and beef lasagna as the main dishes. The Manilla tofu was cooked just right with great sauce and an ample portion of protein compared to your average Nordic experience. The beef lasagna was decadent. It was more reminiscent of mousaka than lasagna, cheesy, pillowy, creamy, and very thin Al dented pasta. Not a whole lot of meat but very flavorful and filling. The drink list was pretty good. I had a nice primotivo for only 55 Kr. Whole bottles are reasonable finds at good prices. They also serve half bottles I'm carafes. Good brew selection too. Prices were fair for the fare. Much less expensive than many surrounding restaurants. Overall, great spot. Good to hang or eat. Not pretentious but just good enoufh food. read more

I was desperately looking for a vegetarian place and found this restaurant. The food I had (vegan lasagna) was a little on the salty side, but enjoyable. My main disappointment was with the waiter, who basically went around to everyone checking on how they were doing and enjoying their food but me. I dare say why I thought this was, but I think he knew what he was doing as he was surprised when he realized I was leaving him a nice tip when I left. He even asked me if I was sure I wanted to leave the tip ‍. If I'm in Copenhagen, I'll be back. Just hope the service is better next time and the food is less salty. read more

I noticed Atlas Bar when I was in high school in Copenhagen, Rysensteen. Being one of the first café/restaurants, it was always packed and had a great reputation. A few decades have past and Copenhagen is now buzzing with restaurants and cafees opening and closing before you even notice them. But Atlas Bar still manages to attract a crowd as the conscious-veggie-king of the Latin Quarters of Copenhagen. I went with a friend who lives just close by; she's a meat eater and I mostly eat veggies, so it was the perfect spot for us. You need to look at the bars at the counter, as they act as boards with the menu written on them - one side veggie/vegan and the other meaty dishes. I ask what was good and they waiter promptly said the beet root balls with salad - so I went with that and my friend picked the lamb in apricot. The portions are HUGE - we could have easily shared one plate between the two of us, and it's quite decent and tasty veggie food as well. Having visited Milfred's in London, few veggie places stand a chance, but this is a decent Copenhagen option. If you've visited Cafe N in Blaagaardsgade in Noerrebro, you'd have an idea about what Atlas Bar is - and the two owners are actually cousins, so go figure. I really enjoyed myself and would certainly go another time, next time ordering a sharing plate to make room for dessert. If they are as good as they look, I'll bring my next review up to 4 starts! When in Copenhagen, this is definitely a must try. You know how you're supposed to keep trying different foods when you travel abroad so you can experience all kinds of things? Well I kept wanting to come back to Atlas Bar cause I couldnt get over how awfully delicious the salmon steak was. It comes with a side of salad, seaweed, and rice. I never would have expected this to become one of the best combinations ever, but of course it wouldnt work without whatever sauce Atlas came up with. While not cheap (Copenhagen is NOT a cheap city), its affordable compared to many places around. ALSO, water cost money here.....so excuse to drink more wine and champagne! It's a cozy place and the place gets packed fast, so there may be a wait. But there's like a bar right around the corner so you could wait there if anything? But either way, the wait is worth is because the waitress is a sweetheart and the food is fantastic. My friends had the risotto, beet salad, and lamb, which were equally delicious. One of my favorite meals in Copenhagen. I know this is not a very descriptive review, but I just can't describe the happiness I felt as I devoured my salmon. Just trust me and go. read more

I am never good at making decisions so I had the waitress pick for me. I ended up with the beet roast with 3 salads and I was happy. My date, the nut roast, which I found to be even more delicious. He also had 2 out of 3 different salads than I did, which was a nice touch. Since the roasts come with 2 patties, we got to switch a loaf each and try each others food. Funny enough, he loved mine more and vice versa. The Asian salad that both came with was AWESOME! I loved the flavor and crunch. I got another salad that I liked (I think lentils?) and one not so much (shaved fennel? bland). The nut roast came with a beet salad (thanks for not overloading me iwth beets :) and a tomato-y one (yum). Cappu here was good! Boy enjoyed beer. We both enjoyed our server. She was super nice and gave us directions to the closest "big" movie theater. read more

Wow. Wandering and decided to try the unknown. Lasagna in Copenhagen? Makes no sense. Until you order it and ingest it. Absolutely divine. Good wine to make it complete. The lasagna is ample and tasty but it is the side dishes that make it truly special. Fresh (uncooked) veggie salad, a yogurt salad, and then another salad of cabbage and almonds - mix these with the lasagna (which is very fine) and sip your red wine and swoon. Not kidding. This is a pretty strong two star based on the food, but It's still a two, based largely on service. Let's start with the good - very tasty seafood risotto. It was actually risotto, it had four nice big delicious, properly cooked, good tasting scallops on top, with the right level of sear and no grit, and it was lots of veggies mixed in. In fact, almost too many veggies. Almost more stuff than risotto. So I would go back for this. Unfortunately, there was also a lot of not so good. We did show up a little late, and with a party of 7 but it was only after we had browsed menus for 15 minutes or so, and ordered a round of drinks, that we were informed that we should not all order a different item, because the oven is broken, so it's going to take longer to cook everything. Uh. Kay. At which point someone mused, "if it's broken...how are they cooking it? Like, how is it just going to take longer vs. take forever?" So, ok...we'll all pick...uhm...stovetop dishes? Oh, and they are out of a ton of these dishes. At which point, she continually reminds us that the real menu is scrawled in chalk on a column over by the bar, with any items they are out of erased. Here's the problem with that. Shame on me, I'm an ignorant American, and I can't read Danish. I wish I could, but I can't. Best I can do is see words that look like German words and make an educated guess. But when the foreign language I don't speak that I'm trying to read is also written really poorly on a surface across the room, I'm not going to be able to read that. Sorry. The fact that we weren't speaking to the waitress in Danish should have been a tip that we weren't Danish speakers. Now, lest you think that this is an American complaining that people don't all speak English, far from it. I'm embarrassed every time I go abroad and people talk to me in better English than my own. I just wanted a little more help from the waitress. In the end, it took well over an hour for the food to arrive, during which time we ordered more beers...only to find they were out of all those as well. Let's recap. Why didn't you, before seating a large party, comment that "Our oven is broken, we're out of half the menu, and we're running low on beer." We almost certainly would have gone elsewhere, but I would at least have thanked them for their honesty. Instead, they did get some money...but also a bad review. Which I foolishly think will be devastating to their continued solvency. read more

Good food but too expensive, for the experience (noisy and chaotic). I'm not coming back. The food was pretty good, my friend had the mushroom risotto and I had the Pakistani lamb. The plates were large - definitely a full meal, even without starters. But at 160 and 185 kr. I expect more than just good food. The basement where Atlas Bar is located was noisy and felt chaotic. My friend was basically yelling and I still had a hard time hearing what she was saying. To add insult to injury, the waiter forgot our beverage order and when she came to take the plates she didn't ask if we wanted dessert or coffee or the check for that matter. I think they were a waiter short that evening, but even with the extra waiter I wouldn't give it more than three stars. Sorry, I did hear good things about this place, but it really didn't live up to any expectations. read more

This place is awesome. It's tucked away on a little street in Copenhagen. You have to go down a few steps for the front door. The inside is very small and while you do feel very packed in, the atmosphere is great and, if you like that kind of thing, you might even end up making new friends! The food is seasonal here so the menu changes frequently and often they run out of dishes later in the evening. The food is DELICIOUS, aside from the absolutely massive portions, it's all really well cooked, well seasoned and generally really tasty. With the menu ever changing some of the options can seem rather random with Japanese beef curry sitting alongside risotto and baked enchiladas. However, it usually means there is something to suit everyone and they even have an entire page of vegetarian options! The food is fairly priced and reasonably cheap for the area, the wine is good and they offer beer and an assortment of other drinks too. The staff are friendly and remember you if you go back several times (as we did). We really loved this place and I would really reccomend it. Mind you, I would head there for either an early supper or a late one as between 7:30-9:30 it can be super busy and difficult to get a table! read more

In spite of the name, not a bar, but an informal, largely vegetarian (with vegan options) restaurant. The place is very casual and inviting, with good service. Menus are available in both Danish and English, and they are very knowledgeable about ingredients and allergies. The menu is a bit of a mix of some Mediterranean inspiration, a bit of Mexican, with a few other things thrown in. Drinks include wine, beer, bottled and fresh juices, as well as coffee and tea. Food is tasty, though for a lunch place a bit pricey. But definitely a good choice for something to eat that manages to be competitive in an area with plenty of options. read more

A very popular and thoroughly unpretentious restaurant in this busy bohemian area of Copenhagen, which features a decent vegetarian menu alongside meat and fish dishes. The interior and furnishings are a little basic the glass topped tables have maps underneath and it is a little cramped. But despite the studenty feel, the clientele are mostly 30-somethings and upwards. We had a main course and beer, which came to DK200 a head, which is pretty good for Copenhagen. I chose the beetroot burgers, which were served with three salads and a yoghurt dressing. It was one of the best veggie meals I have had in a while great flavours, a range of textures and the burgers (made with beetroot and goats cheese) were something of a revelation. (I want the recipe) It was also deceptively filling. The only slight downer was that the cheerful and friendly staff weren't very attentive. But overall, I'd be very happy to go back and would recommend it to vegetarians. read more

Such a cute, local, neighborhood feel. We had an honest & kind waiter and very hearty portions. The beet patties (beet n goat cheese veggie burgers) were very good & accompanied by a seemingly random Asian-style seaweed and sesame lentil salad, which was yummy! My friends had the lasagna & the Manila chicken & both were happy. Going to the bathroom involves a key, going outside & up some stairs, which is interesting, but despite that, this place is worth the visit! read more

It can be hard in Denmark for a vegetarian, particularly as one of the only Danish words I know is for "fish." It's not that there aren't veggie options places-- there are-- but, you know, it's not known for it's veggie-friendly cuisine. Atlas bar is a great find for veggie and non-veggie alike. Chill atmosphere and nice service. It's a small place tucked in a corner, but worth finding. Basic vegetarian fare (for Americans, the offerings feel a little 1970's-vegetarian-style, if you catch my drift), but good food. And good beer. Just nice to have a number of vegetarian (and vegan!) options. read more

Good for vegans and vegetarians! I've been here twice (over a couple of years) and ordered the beet and goat cheese balls (listed as patties on the English menu I think) both times. They are deep reddish pink, but don't be alarmed! It's delicious. Kind of like a beet based falafel. They always come with an assortment of delicious veggie sides (cabbage slaw with almonds, lentil salad, beet salad, depending on the day) and tzatziki sauce with kalmata olives. It's incredibly filling for vegetarian food. Around 700 (danish) gets three entrees and a medium priced bottle of wine. I believe they also have a pretty good beer assortment, but I haven't tried it. read more

This place was the highest rated, closest place open, so I decided to try it. I guess I missed the main bar and no one redirected me. When I asked for a place to sit, they explained it was vegan only, which was fine. I got seated and put in my order. I got my beverage right away. Another group came in and ordered. I waited. and waited. The group that came in before me got their food. They were done eating and I was about to leave when my food showed up. The food was quite good, but the service for me was really slow. This place is great - we came here for lunch and sat at the bar. Considering it was raining and 2:00, it was quite busy. There was a well-translated English menu and we opted for the fish cakes and salmon lunches. The portions were very generous and thoughtful. My fish cakes were all fish with very little filling. The accompanying mustard-based sauce was delicious with chopped cauliflower. The plates also came with generous portions of pickled beets, cucumber salad, and very tasty potatoes. I came here for a vegan meal. Arrived right at 10pm. The website said they were open until midnight, but they stopped serving food at 10pm. I was one person, and I think they could have cut me some slack, but they didn't. Be aware that they stop serving food much earlier than they close. read more

The service is very slow in this restaurant and most times they seem to have run out of food. Many of the items in the menu (and even sometimes the drinks) are not available at dinner time. The food is tasty but I would not recommend it just because of the poor service. read more
