After going through a few estimates, we decided to move forward with Miguel's Painting. We recently got drywall repair which was completed from another company. Unfortunately, the drywall repair wasn't to our liking. We hired Miguel to complete the drywall repair and to paint the ceiling afterwards so it matches. Overall, the painting was 10/10. The repair that Miguel completed was a lot better than before. Prior to finishing up the initial painting, Miguel had agreed to come back if we saw an issue with the drywall after the paint was dry. After pointing out an issue with the drywall to him via text, he agreed that some additional work was needed and was willing to come back to get it done the following Monday. After trying to confirm with him if he was still coming on Monday, he pretty much ghosted me and did not respond to my message. I tried following up 2x but no response. Overall, the painting was 10/10. Would I feel comfortable hiring him again? Probably not. If you see something that you're not 100% satisfiedyou run the risk of being ghosted by Miguel if you asked him to come back. read more

I hired Miguel's Painting Inc. (formerly Miguel's Painting Solution, LLC) to prep and paint the south side of my home (wood siding and wood windows) with base and trim colors. Since I knew the original paint had lead in it, I requested no sanding (except on the newer porch) and careful cleanup of all scraped paint. Some things went well or were satisfactory: Miguel communicated his schedule up front for each day. He patiently explained our options for paint and the advantages/disadvantages of paint vs. stain for the porch and stairs, and was good at accommodating our delay in making a choice on the stain color. The workmanship to replace the porch rail balusters (as had been agreed) was acceptable. The sanding of the porch surface was well done as was the staining of porch and stairs. The workers were good at masking and holding the respective colors (base and trim) where they came together. The top paint coat was painted with no noticeable drips, sags or runs. Finally, the daily cleanup was good, and the spread of (lead) paint scrapings was very minimal. Some critical things did not go well: The scraping to remove loose paint was very inferior, especially where a ladder was required for access. From the estimate I had expected washing over the majority of the surfaces, but that was only done where there was visible mildew (behind a bush). I understood from Miguel that there would be two coats of the final paint color. I didn't see any evidence of two top coats being applied, and several paint holidays (where primer is still visible) make me fairly certain a second top coat was not applied except possibly in particular locations and, even then, likely before the first coat had thoroughly dried. Miguel had told me at the outset that all protruding nails in the siding would be properly set. When he said the project was completed, I found the nails had not been properly set. He and his crew proceeded to do so, but made no effort to paint the exposed wood that resulted in each dimple. I asked Miguel to return to address some remaining concerns. When I pointed out the need to paint over the fresh nail holes, his response was, "What's wrong?" It took my explaining that a paint coating was necessary to protect the wood and the nails; only then did he reluctantly direct his crews to complete that work. The painting on an upstairs dormer window frame was truly careless, leaving significant patches of exposed wood that were not readily visible from the ground. In addition, the window itself was painted shut and Miguel offered no apology when, during his follow-up visit a week after he said he was finished, I told him I had used a putty knife to free it, removed paint from an optical sensor, and removed paint streaks from a window. Later I discovered the crew broke a flood-light bulb and they never mentioned it. Based on my earlier interaction with Miguel, including his professional-looking estimate and the high (but still competitive) cost, I was expecting a professional execution, complete with careful and thorough prep work. The finished product looks good at a distance, but does not withstand a close scrutiny, primarily due to incomplete scraping, but also due to paint holidays. In retrospect, I may have received a better job if I had 'babysat' Miguel and his crew. Perhaps others are willing to provide close inspection and call his attention to the potential myriad details that a good painter will pay attention to without being asked. But that is not what I want or expect to do when I hire a professional. In conclusion, I will not be using Miguel's services for future work. read more

Miguel came at the recommendation of my mother, a very big stickler for details, so had a leg up already when I met him. He was very responsive, bid competitively, was very flexible with small requests and details during the bidding process and generally a very easy guy to work with. While the weather was a big challenge this sprint, his team was able to work around intermittent painting weather over the course of a week and did a fantastic job giving my 110 year old craftsman new life. Did such a great job I had him do the fence surrounding my property also now too. And finally, and this is my big pain point usually, they cleaned up really well every day after they were done.
