When our group of 8 came back from our Chichén Itzá tour, we didn't realize how late it was and simply ducked into the restaurant. Even though they were supposed to be closed in about ten minutes, they never rushed us through our ordering and had everything in stock. As they cleaned up around us they made sure that we had excellent service and provided us wonderful foods. My family ordered the Salmon teppanyaki, Yaki Soba, the Lemon Chicken Soba noodles, Japanese Combo (from kids menu), & Crispy Maki Sushi. Japanese hibachi at the Marriott Cancun. Decor is modern and upscale. Attention to detail by waiters was just perfect. They noticed my kid was sitting on her knees so they got her a different chair even before anyone said anything. The service was great. Prompt, fun and everything you would hope for at a hibachi experience. Kids loved it. The food was amazing. Everything was high quality ingredients, nice flavors, and large portions. Great hibachi experience! I forget the name of our cook, but he did a great job entertaining everyone, and an even better job on the food. The fried rice was delicious, as were all of our main courses. My wife had the shrimp and chicken, I had the salmon. Everything was cooked perfectly to order and had so much flavor. If you are in Cancun staying at the Marriott, you MUST try this restaurant! EVERYTHING and I mean from the ambiance to the food and staff customer service was worth every dollar. We sat at the bar where the cook grilled the food. He was impressive and very meticulous. He created all of our food like an artist. He cleaned the grill so well after every dish he made too. Jesus was serving us answering all kinds of questions and also surprised us with a birthday treat for my twin sister and I. I would recommend the Tonkatsu ramen and other noodles. Food here was absolutely amazing! The only complaint I have is that my husband ordered steamed rice with his entree . When the chef made the fried rice for everyone he offered some to my husband. My husband told him he had ordered steamed rice. He then asked him if he wanted some fried rice. We thought he was giving it to him to taste. When we got the bill we noticed the extra charge for the fried rice. This is the only reason I am giving it a 4 star instead of a 5 star. read more

I am very surprised to see such bad reviews. We ate here tonight, 5/31, and sat at a Teppan table. We had a 7 pm reservation. We were seated quickly (there were only 3 of us so we were seated with a family of 4). We had great conversation with our table mates and even shared a cab back to the hotel (ironically we were all staying at the same hotel). The service was good. The teppan chef was fun and entertaining. The food was reasonably priced and very tasty (the vegetables were prepared perfectly and the ginger sauce was fantastic). Food is overpriced for the portion sizes. I understand it's supposed to be "tapas", but if you're going to sell mediocre food the size of 2 or 3 bites, at least price it more affordably. Yakioba is incredibly salty and looks/tastes like instant ramen with soy sauce. Sushi is made of strange combinations with weird spices added. Also, we ordered the Yuzu Creme Brulee which said it comes with ice cream on the menu. When it came without the ice cream I asked the waiter who said "there's a mistake on the menu"...a cheap excuse. He overheard our table talking about it and came over to say he asked the manager and will bring the ice cream. Regardless, when our green tea ice cream came it tasted like matcha flavoring mixed with ice. Not worth the price. read more

located at the Marriot Hotel in Cancun, this restaurant is promising. The entrance looks amazing with tall doors and the receptionist dressed up with Japanese Kimono's. As you walk in, the place is astonishing but the night we went was a bit smokey (ventilation issues). Nice set of Hibachi tables and some of the chefs are pretty decent, some dropped knives in front of you ( not safe at all) Well our food was pretty normal for hibachi, i was expecting them serving you food to your mouth as in other places or pour alcohol etc, the regular flare but nope, here is the chef making a heart with egg white and setting an onion on fire. Thats all you get. We ordered two surt and turf, salmon and chicken and the best was the marinated chicken and it was not cooked at the table. We also ordered spicy tuna rolls and they were actually pretty good. Our waiter was all over the place and kept forgetting to take orders, deliver the orders etc. Pushing on the bottle water but no need for that specially when they dont even ask you if tap or bottle. read more

Our family went here this week. Service was exceptional. Really top shelf with much attention to detail throughout our meal. We ate at the Teppanyaki Grill and were entertained by our chef very nicely. Two of us are vegan and they did a great job in accommodating us; even with an off menu vegan sushi creation as an appetizer. Regular sushi was great too. Our chef was even mindful of cooking the vegan entrees first before putting any meat, eggs or dairy onto the grill. This was very much appreciated as we've had other Teppanyaki style restaurants miss this important detail. We highly recommend Mikado for all. My family came here last night and we had an amazing experience at the hibachi side of the restaurant! Our chef, Javier Dluz, was super interactive and kept our whole table entertained. He made sure everyone was laughing and having fun while cooking our delicious food! He is super funny and had a great personality! The fried rice was tasty and everything was well seasoned. I wasn't even able to finish my plate of food because there is a good amount given to you. Seiromushi had very wrong ingredients...very very wrong. Workers are wearing fake Japanese kimono as well. Almost insult for native Japanese person like me. Unfortunately, all four rolls we ordered were extremely salty and the fish was not fresh. You'd be better off ordering gas station sushi. During our hotel stay we wanted to have something different to eat hibachi is always a good idea. We had a large group it was 14 of us no problem being seated. Once seated we started with some drinks , I had the Sapporo beer love this beer they gave me a big can nice & cold. Others drinks Martini & Margaritas all pretty good. Since the whole purpose of this place is for the chef to put on a show make sure to order the items that work for this purpose. Once everyone is ready the show begins this is definitely fun to watch the flipping of the tools , onion volcano & setting the grill basically on fire dammm very cool. Everyone had the mix fried rice , along with some Chicken, Steak & Shrimp. They also sauté some veggies. Watching the cook put the meal together is part of the show & fun of this restaurant. We tried some sushi as well California roll & Spicy Tuna both really good rolls. Once the presentation was done & the food was cooked it was time to dig in ... Wow the fried rice was delicious it had such a great taste I could have easily just had this as my meal. Shrimp was seasoned perfectly great taste nice size shrimp , good piece of Steak even such small pieces u can taste how tender the meat was , the Chicken was great tasting as well nice juice pieces. Veggies were very good as well mix together on on their own. The restaurant itself is nice pretty big plenty of seating by tables or by the grills. Restaurant is in the Marriott hotel. Went here for the sushi. The menu is standard fare, no surprises. They do have an impressive wine list, and the manager had a detailed knowledge of each wine. (If you haven't tried Mexican wines, give them a go - you'll be pleasantly surprised. They also have California, Chilean and other wines as well.) This is a joke. This is not japanese food. Poorly executed. Horrible flavors. Embarassing to call this a Japanese restaurant. We ordered the tempura udon, yakisoba with ramen noodles, and pork buns. Fortunately the pork bun with pork belly was good. The udon was a joke, who puts bell peppers in udon broth??!! The shrimp tempura was clearly frozen as it smelled like freezer rot. I concur with the previous reviewer that this place is a joke. Bad sushi, decent service, cheap price compared to a decent Japanese restaurant in the US. That's all I can say about this Japanese place located at Marriott Resort Cancun. I seriously don't don't understand how people who "enjoy sushi" could give it 4/5 stars. We had 3 sushi rolls, a bowl of udon, chicken skewers, okoyominaki, and drinks. And the only thing decent out of this experience were the sake and beer and that it didn't break the bank. The dishes were worse than the cheap sushi you would get from gas stations. I know that Marriott can do better than this. Why serve Japanese if you're going to serve dry, underseasoned dishes? If you can't afford a real Japanese chef please hire a Chinese person. I seriously think it will improve overall. read more

We are surrounded in New York by many great Japanese restaurants, more than anyone could ask for. So I find it difficult to find great Japanese places outside of New York. But this restaurant takes the cake. The sushi was a good quality and the noodles where great tasting. Service was good with attentive waiters and accommodated to my specific needs. I have a shrimp allergy so I wanted a bowl of noodles that came with shrimp and other goodies. So I asked if I can get that without shrimp and it was totally fine. I highly recommend it. read more

The chef was fabulous and put on a great show. However, they only do it every hour (6,7,8...) not on the half hour which we did not know. We had our reservation for 7:30pm, but had to wait until 8pm. This was our second favorite restaurant at the Marriott Cancun Resort. The sushi was great we had four different rolls, the fried rice was amazing. We got there 30 min before closing and they served us with smiles and amazing food. We didn't get to sit at one of the chefs tables due to time but we still ordered from there and they brought it to us hot and amazing! Would highly recommend.
