I was told that adults are $15.99 my two little ones would be $7.99 each and my 8 year old would be $9.99. Prices seemed fair, we went. And when the server came back with the check she charged our 8 year old as an adult and added $2 per each of my two little ones! The price increase made no sense considering that the only drinks we all had was water. Our first visit and we had to wait in line to get in- so we assumed that it was amazing. We were wrong! Average, basic Chinese food and I was so irritated because they don't replenish the "good stuff" consistently. The seafood boil was empty most of our visit- when I asked they said it would be another 15 minutes. And after 15 minutes they refilled it with very little and it was gone almost immediately and they waited another 15 minutes to refill it. There was no salmon our entire visit. Finding ourselves in the Jensen Beach area after dropping older sister off at a birthday party in Port St. Lucie, my 8 year-old twins declared they were hungry. Wanting something quick and easy, I found Mikata Buffet on Yelp. Decent reviews and only a mile away, I quickly drove in that direction. They are on the east side of Federal Highway in a busy shopping center. Arriving at Mikata Buffet, we were quickly seated although there were several parties in front of us. The restaurant was packed. And when I say packed - I mean packed. Popular place I thought... Adult buffet for me ($12.59) and kids buffet for my twins ($8.99 each) - water as our beverage. Table service was fast, friendly and efficient. I would hate to be the dishwasher in this place. I quickly hit the hibachi and sushi bar at the back of Mikata. Shrimp, steak, onions, hot peppers - cooked in a teriyaki sweet sauce. Cooked just right and service was friendly. Over a dozen different types of sushi - I tried several. All tasted pretty good. An added egg roll was a bit on the dry side but tasted better when I added duck sauce. My twins started with egg rolls, honey garlic chicken and crab rangoon. My daughter added pineapple, strawberries and a Chinese donut to her first plate. My son ate three plates of hibachi shrimp following his first one. I'm the only one who tried the soup - hot and sour was my choice. Pretty tasty it was. Crab legs are an upcharge at Mikata Buffet and I didn't try them as - quite frankly - they're too much work and I don't really care for them anyway. From what I can tell, though, this is a closely guarded food item. Several dozen food choices were available for our dining pleasure. Vibrant colors and nothing seemingly overcooked - the buffet line was constantly kept clean. A fully stocked and plentiful desert bar made my twins happy. They tried the cheesecake, ice cream, cream puffs and macaroons. No complaints from them. I had a Chinese donut. You can't really beat $13 buffet. I generally eat healthy and tries to stay away from typical buffet food and I can still find a wide variety of acceptable selections like grilled shrimp, salmon and steamed cabbage. I didn't have high hope for the sushi but there are several surprisingly good ones with a lot of salmon roes. read more

The last time I did take out the woman at the front was very rude in notifying me that I couldn't take out any oysters, sushi, clams, shrimp or crab legs. The crab legs I understand and knew about but I've taken out many times everything else ‍ she was VERY rude about it! If I'm spending my money dinning or taking out what difference does it make? It's a buffet. So, know that you are going to a buffet and are going to experience all the fun that goes along with a buffet experience. Price is like $12 or $13 a person. ThT being sAid, they have all the usual fare....fried rice, general tasks chicken, egg rolls, etc....this stuff is all normal mediocre buffet stuff. What sets mikata apart from the rest and should get you to try it at least once is four things....the oysters, the peel and eat shrimp, the habachi Bar in the back and the fresh sushi in the back....all of which is all you can eat. I always try to tip the sushi and hibachi guys cause they do a great job and are working it. If this place had to stand on its own against any competition, it would be empty. Below average for even a Chinese buffet which are themselves usually below average as far as food goes. One of my guilty pleasures is a Chinese buffet with a hibachi style grill. Unfortunately, my wife doesn't share this same guilty pleasure as me, so I opted to try this one when I was in Port St. Lucie for work. After deciding not to pay the additional $10 for crab legs, I headed straight for the hibachi and loaded my plate with chicken, steak, pork (I think), and shrimp, the added a few veggies just to not look like a total carnivore. The guy behind the grill threw it all on and I told him I liked garlic and a little bit of the red chili sauce for some spice. As it cooked, I walked around the various stations to see what they had. After about 3 or 4 minutes, I had a hot dish of mostly meat and I got a sidecar of hot and sour soup with some scallions added to the top. I like to put a wonton in my soup but they were out of soup at the time. The best compliment I could give the hibachi was that it was indeed hot. The flavor was pretty bland although there was a hint of heat from the chili sauce. The meat was all very tough. I was a good boy and cleaned my plate though before I ventured back to the buffet. The soup wasn't bad but it's better with a wonton in it. I noticed the attendant bringing out some hot pepper steak so I immediately took 2 pieces of steak to try, I also had some salt and pepper shrimp (crispy and delicious), pepper chicken (cold and tough), and a crab rangoon (my favorite, but it was a little too sweet). I like to sample different things, so I just get small portions. I returned again and got a dumpling with some dumpling sauce (there were no little plastic cups to be found for the sauces), some more salt and pepper shrimp (the attendant had just dumped in a fresh batch), some general tso's chicken (which was warm), and an egg roll. The egg roll was one of the worst I have ever eaten. There was hardly any filling and I bit into it and had to chew it off like a piece of soft thick beef jerky, but without the reward of delicious beef jerky. I would say frozen egg rolls from the walmart freezer put into a microwave would be better than the one I had. Finally, I had a cornucopia of other times which were all mediocre at best. At one point, a square slice of onion had to be spit out because it was like chewing on a piece of plastic. And still, no wonton soup? Did they run out of wontons? That's like a Japanese restaurant running out of gyoza or a Subway running out of bread (which I had happen to me once too). I will say the service was excellent with the drink refills and clearing of the plates and extra napkins. But it would not make up for the food quality and temperature. With the exception of the salt and pepper shrimp which were absolutely amazing. I won't go back JUST for those though. As I left I looked over at Buffalo Wild Wings, and realized it was Tuesday, then hung my head in shame. read more

Food is very similar to what you see at other places; both type and quality. Crab legs are offered for an additional charge of about $10. What a terrible manager they have! Totally rude to the point of distasteful attitude. He's a young Chinese man. We made a reservation for the private sector for 30 persons, but was cut down to 24 pax on the day of the lunch. We were given 2 rows of tables at the back of the room, and we were told that they would put other customers in the same room, with no consideration for our privacy. He did not care if we liked it or not, he did not care if we never came back. Totally insolent. So, if you have a big group, forget about this place. Actually, forget about this place completely. We have been going to this restaurant many times. The Chinese/, Sushi/ Hibachi are good. But tonight, something bothered me. I know , during this Covid pandemic people may try to be hygienic with "gloves" , but makes it worse. My server was wearing gloves when our plates and drinks were given to us. Watched her wiped the tables , picked up the dirty plates and wiped the tables with the same gloves and serving other people their beverages with that same gloves. Grossed me out. Only reason why I figured that was from my cup feeling oily....but other than that the food is good. Just sanitize or wash your hands in between when it comes to serving people, I suppose? read more
