I recently went to Mike's Barbershop in Plano to have my beard trimmed and colored, and I have to say, the experience was far better than I expected. What really stood out to me was Mike himself. He has a very personable, engaging personality that immediately makes you feel comfortable. He takes the time to talk with you, understand what you're looking for, and genuinely seems to take pride in making sure you leave looking your best. There was no feeling of being rushed through the chair. And the work was outstanding. The beard trim was precise, natural-looking, and exactly what I was hoping for. The coloring was equally impressive--Mike clearly knows how to work with facial hair and get the color right without making it look artificial or overdone. What I especially appreciated were the little extras he incorporated along the way. He introduced me to some facial and grooming treatments that I hadn't really considered before, explained what they were doing and why they were beneficial, and made the whole process feel more like a personalized grooming experience than simply getting a beard trimmed and colored. That attention to detail makes a difference. Mike isn't just cutting hair or trimming a beard--he's paying attention to the person sitting in his chair and looking for ways to make the experience better. I walked out feeling like I looked noticeably better, but more importantly, I felt like I had found someone who genuinely cares about his craft and his customers. I've been looking for a barber here for 4 years and just settled. However, yesterday, I decided to get a cut here. It was the best decision I have made. I've been to many barber shops in NY/CA/GA and I've never met one as professional as these guys. I've got my haircut by Yustin and the guy really took his time and asked a bunch of questions. I believe there are two guys there that don't speak english that well, and one guy that can translate. I mean Yustin even took out his phone and started using google translate to ask me questions, these guy really cares. Not only did he care, but you know like when you go the barber and you give them some pictures of how you want your hair, and then it doesn't look anything like it? Mike Blends is an excellent barber who focuses on the details not just a general haircut. He makes sure all lines are tight and symmetrical along with blending beard length into your sideburns. The fact that he will use scissors and comb for a truly layered look instead of just asking you what number you are to lock in on buzz trimmers (a true sign of a less skilled barber). Need to finish the experience with a hot lather, straight razor shave or beard line up, Mike has you covered. At first, I was a bit hesitant to get a haircut due to my previous experiences at other places. Mike has an amazing attention to detail and really takes his time to give you what you're looking for, whereas a lot of barbershops are all about you getting you in and out as fast as possible, resulting in a mediocre haircut. Mike made sure to ask me the right questions and showed me pictures to give me the look I was wanting to achieve. By far the best haircut I've ever received. In the past I've frequented Sport Clips locations.. this is an entirely different league. Mike is not only a certified professional who's been doing this for years.. he also comes from a long line of professional barbers dating back to his grandfather (of whom there is a picture in his shop!) One of my biggest concerns when moving to Dallas was finding a new barbershop to go to. Thankfully I came across Mike and his barber shop in between my office and apartment. I've since been back 3 times and recommended him to my friends and family.
