When I began planning my wedding 8 months ago, finding a good photographer was at the very top of my to-do list, and I must've gone through pages and pages of wedding photographers before finding Mike. As I scrolled through his image gallery I pretty much just said "yep, this is the guy", and wrote him that day to book our date. Some helpful (maybe) tidbits of info: 1. Mike is a friendly, down-to-earth guy, and very easy to talk to. Some photographers are more like salespeople and sound like they're trying to sell you a timeshare - Mike was straightforward and told me packages/prices right away through email (most other photographers I talked to told me we had to meet in person before they would even tell me basic prices :P) 2. His work is sharp, simple, and classic - no gimmicky special effects here or cheesy vignettes here. 3. It's clear that he knows exactly how to use his equipment. The lighting at my wedding was all over the place, from super bright sunlight to candlelight to colored rave lights, and he managed to switch settings quickly and without missing a shot. 4. He listens to your suggestions. I sent him a pinterest board with a bunch of fun ideas and he did his best to incorporate as many as he could into our shoot. The ones that we got to do turned out awesome! 5. You get some great stuff for the price! I think his prices have gone up a little lately (which they should've, he's totally worth it) but when we hired him months ago it was 1500 for 6 hours of him AND an assistant photographer, ALL of the digital negatives, and a top quality hardback album. We wound up with almost 600 pictures! Even if he's like 2000 now for the basic package it's still a great deal. I've heard so many people's horror stories about terrible experiences with their wedding photographers, and I'm so happy I didn't have to go through anything like that. When we first began planning our wedding, we felt that finding the right photographer could make all the difference in the world. Well, we were right. Mike Chan is a fantastic photographer who made our wedding an experience we will never forget. From the consultation to the actual Wedding, Mike demonstrated true professionalism. Mike continued his services at our Reception up to 10:00 Pm! At our reception Mike provided really memorable shots. He began by providing a 3 hour photo session with a backdrop, so we could have photos with all our guests (over 300). Throughout the evening he coordinated with our DJ (Jason Spencer) and kept the wedding smooth and effortless between activities, which included various toasts, a dress change for the bride, Chinese Games, Dancing, Cake Cutting, and guest photos. Our wedding was so very enjoyable and Mike captured all our moments and provided really great photos. What my wife and I really appreciate, is Mike being so down to earth. His fun and caring personality is genuine and he shows a true passion for his craft. With Weddings being so stressful, having Mike as your photographer would eliminate a large portion of it. Where to begin? My fiance and I were not looking for a professional photographer at first, but decided last minute to shop around and see if we could find an affordable, yet awesome picture-snapper. A few days of research later, we stumbled upon Mike. After short exchanges of information, he was able to quote us on pricing for various packages of services which included leather bound photobooks, photowalls (awesomely fun idea for a wedding), engagement sessions, and many more. We actually had two wedding ceremonies/receptions on two separate days, yet he was able to make it all happen with no difficulties. He was very accommodating with all our delays too (Asian time). We were getting married in the Walnut Grove area and wanted to find a photographer close by to save on travel cost and prevent traffic issues. I researched photographers and came across Mike Chan. When it come's to photography, I'm a tough critic. While it is no longer my day job, I've worked professionally as photographer myself, I've had my work published in The NY Times, and I've been shooting before digital was a thing. What can I say about Mike. He was so professional and accommodating to me and my fiancé (now wife). We got his name from a friend and after looking at his portfolio we knew he had the eye we were looking for. Modern with a classic feel to it. He took 900 shots ( I'm sure it was more like 5000) and had them edited and sent to us less than a month after our wedding!
