Several months later, I received notice from the munipality that I was about to be fined for not performing the required backflow test and giving me 30 days to complete it. Called for emergency problem at 8:30 on 7/13/26. Water leak necessitated turn off of water to the house. Steve arrived 45 minutes later. Quickly diagnosed the problem. Didn't have exact replacement parts but, thinking outside the box, came up with a solution that was more than satisfactory. My parents just got back to Florida after being up on Cape Cod all summer. Surprisingly, when they got back to Boca Royale, we had no hot water. My dad had asked me to search for a local plumber. After seeing so many ads on SNN, WTSP (CBS Tampa), and other local networks, I said to my mom "Hey, let's try Mike Douglass Plumbing. They're only ten minutes down the road." And sure enough, we call them around 7 AM. A gentleman by the name of Steve showed up right when he said he would be there (Around 11 AM). We went around back and checked all the valves out back to ensure enough water pressure and we did. Finally, we get to the hot water tank in the garage. That's where Steve discovered it was some sort of switch issue. He was able to diagnose and isolate the problem very quickly. Their service wasn't too expensive, but they were definitely fairly priced. Overall, what a great experience we had. Will recommend to associates and friends. You couldn't even get the job right! here. This had nothing to do with shower heads, it was to rebuild the shower walls, and drains with Sclhluter. Wow James from Coastal didn't get this job only because he said he couldn't do the re-build. No Tilers. My insurance didn't buy it. He can tell you whatever. Name-calling is your fallback instead of trying to find out what the problem is. You attack. I have call logs and your email from November stating you will be ready to go in the spring. I was having my house painted and the painters managed to snap off the hose bibb that was attached to my main water line, meaning they had to shut the water off to my house. This was discovered (they didn't tell me - that's a story for another review) about 5:30 this evening. I called Mike Douglass Plumbing - the gent was very professional and had me text him my info, after which he let me know someone would be on the way shortly. Scammers! I bought a new water heater from this company 3-5-19 and paid for it in full same day. Today I have a water leak in my water heater and I called the company to get another brand new one installed. They refused me service and told me that I owe them money from nonpayment in 2019. Here is proof of my payment. I asked to speak with management but no one calls me back. These people do not care about customer service and are incredibly rude!! Many neighboors used Mike Douglass Plumbing in my community. Many home needed sewer line Relinning due to cast iron pipes.. I had not had any problems woth clogged drains ,insects, back upstairs, bad smells ,slow drains..etc. I decided I would have my sewer line checked by camera is how they do it.. I wanted to find out if I had cracks in my line leaks etc...to to have peace of mind. FRANKIE..from M.Douglass came...told him I have not had any issues but I wanted it checked..he went on the roof to put the drain camera down the vent stacks to check the lines. ( since I did not have a sewer clean out, thats the way ita done ..yes) After about ten minutes he comes down and tells me I have sand in 2 of my feeder lines and a few cracks... So...with my other neighbors they recorded a video of their line and sent it to them before they decided to proceed. Frankie leaves and tells me he's going to email the info and the quote. He did. $14,000 for the credit place sewer relinning including 1st hydrojetting the line to clean it 1st and adding a clean out pipe outside. I said ok...can you send me the video of my line? Frankie tells me there is no video.. We only do the video before we clean your line the after cleaning theb after the liner is installed... A flat out lie. So...I called Gem State Wide Plumbing in Englewood FL..who also does relinning in my neighborhood... They said the charge is $250 for the camera check and you'll get a video. There are scams where they show you someone else's lines to scam you into in. Chris and Germaine came from Gem 1 guy went on the roof to do the camera and I asked Chris if I can watch the camera while it's being done and we both watched it together right on the spot. Guess What ? Chris said mt.line was remarkably in good condition ...no sand no cracks that he could see...1 small blockage which the camera cleared... Some small scaling inside the line but that'll normal. He suggested a mild pressure hydrogetting to clean the line and adding a clean out pipe and cap outside where the main goes to the street... Total $1650 ..which i will get done in a few months. So what the Hell?. Saw it with my own eyes..the line looks ok. DONT USE OR EVER CALL MIKE DOUGLASS PLUMBING....ALMOST SCAMMED ME OUT OF $14,000 THEY SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN.BY THE COUNTY.. FRANKIE IS A SCAMMER AND LIAR AND THUS the whole company ​​ read more

I have used them multiple times over the years and always had a great experience. The office staff has been courteous and professional. The technicians have been on time, done a great job, looked professional, drove safely and finished in a timely manner. Set fees are for having an experienced trained professional with all the equipment at your beck and call. Whether it takes them 5 minutes or 45 minutes you have to pay the same rate and that is necessary! Just because you have someone so skilled they can fix your problem quickly is not a bad thing because they have had years of experience to see and solve the problem. read more

I called for what I thought was a clogged tub drain. When the tech arrived, it turned out that the drain was not clogged. He simply undid the drain cover with his fingers, discovered glob there and rinsed it off and everything was fine....took less than 5 minutes...no tools, no snaking. Since he was here and I knew I had to pay for a service call, I had him look at a slow bathroom sink drain. The result was the same...no snaking, no tools, 5 mins to rinse off drain cover. All in all, he was here for 20-30 minutes. But then the bill...$250! Are you kidding me? I understand that there are basic charges, but this is EXCESSIVE by anybody's standard, especially since the drains were not clogged!!! I can't say enough good about Ken from Mike Douglass. He had already had a loooong day but was still in the time frame window, was very courteous, friendly and wouldn't stop working even for a drink. Got my tankless heater in like a magician and was hustling off to the next customer. Guy was an all pro in plumbing and I would recommend them to any and all in need of any issues with plumbing. Needed a back flow valve installed. They said they would come by this morning before noon. At 10:30 I received a message that the plumber was "outside the complex, but didn't know which unit". We live in a single family home--miles from any multiple unit dwellings. By the time I was able to get back to them the guy was gone (from wherever he was) and they refused to bring him back. I was in need of a whole house re-pipe. I hired Michael Douglas Plumbing. They finished the job and were getting ready to leave when I told them I want them to show me what they had done. They did not want to take the time but I insisted before paying them. In our contract, they were to install a water spigot on the outside garage wall. They ran the pipe on the inside of the wall and mounted the spigot INSIDE of the garage. They moved it at my request although they didn't want to. As we walked around the house, I noticed the pipe they were using running across the ground along the side of my house. They told me it was normal and legal in Florida. I asked that it be buried and as I watched, the plumber KICKED dirt over it with his foot. I decided the person didn't have much common sense and I would call the office the next day. That evening and the next morning when I turned on the water in my house, the plumbing made a horrible squealing noise. I called the office to rectify the issues. I was told the squealing was normal and someone would come bury the pipes. I put up with the noise for a while and at times it was minimal. When the temperature changed a few months later it was quite loud and very annoying. I called again about the squealing and someone came out a 2nd and 3rd time still saying it's normaL Not wanting to deal with company I tried to ignore it. Finally I called again and asked to speak to the owner. I made 7 or 8 calls to the owner who was NEVER AVAILABLE AND NEVER RETURNED MY CALLS. I finally settled for the operations manager who assured me the squealing was easily fixed. After months of frustration and incompetence, finally something would be done. I scheduled an appointment with the operations manager who said he would come out personally. HE DID NOT SHOW UP. HE DIDN'T EVEN CALL. There was no communication even by the next day. I HAD TO CALL THEM. Again I tried to contact the owner. He couldn't be bothered to return my calls so again I had to deal with the operations manager. We scheduled another appointment. He told me he would explain to the person who would be coming out what needed to be done and they would take care of it that day. A plumber came on the scheduled day, looked at what needed to be done, and said he didn't have the parts to fix it. This was the WORST contractor experience I have ever had. I would NOT hire Michael Douglas Plumbing for anything!!! If the OWNER doesn't care enough to return a phone call or hire competent plumbers, he shouldn't be in business. I only wrote this in order to save the next person a huge headache and maybe a lot of money. I hope this helps. read more

Mike Douglas To The Rescue. Not only do they offer prompt courteous service they are some of the most polite and professional people I have come across in my lifetime. We had to have the pipes Re-sleeved and hired them to take on that nightmare. Almost a year later we began to have some issues with these old pipes again and they were here immediately even though it was a Sunday. Our water heater needed replacement -- called Mike Douglass Plumbing for a replacement--they came the same day and did a good job--however, they charged $1100.00 for a water heater that I saw online for $504.00, and also checked Home Depot, their price was $389.00. These guys came pretty fast and the guy that came worked hard to fix our clogged drain. He didn't charge us as he was unable to help. He said a drain specialist will call... No call , we called them after a bit. Frankie told us it would be $1250. To come back and fix the clog. . Then said he would call the 1st guy that was here and get back to us. No call back. Anyway I'm not happy with the way this was handled and will not use them again. End of story. We called Roto ruder and they came and fixed it for $400. read more

During the Hurricane Irma, something when wrong to my bank and they call me for the mistake. The problem was a return check to Mike Douglas. So I tell them is fine, I paid for another account and I will call them. Was so busy I couldn't call but a lady from that office call me and was sooo rude. I explained her was an error of the bank during the hurricane and another check was on the way and she didn't listened to me. Called about installing a new water heater, the employee seemed uninterested in helping me. He gave me a price to remove the old water heater and install the new one. I told him I was going to get another estimate. He pressured me into agreeing to hire him, said he had the water heater on the truck and could do the job right now. I said OK. He installed it, and then gave me a final bill that was $200.00 higher than he had quoted. I hesitated to pay the inflated bill, he became loud, and threatening and threatened to take out the new heater, leaving me with no water. In the meantime he called the Sheriff to my home demanding that I pay the inflated bill. I paid the bill. The first day the water heater leaked and put out no hot water. I called the company and told me there was no warranty on this heater. This employee and the owner of the company are nothing but scammers praying on senior citizens such as myself. read more
