Mike and his team are the best contacting team we have ever employed - over 50 years and three states. They are responsive - phone calls are always answered or, at worst, returned the same day. They are polite and professional - and we always get straight answers. There has never been an "upsell" - we've never been told that we need a new roof. The message has always been - this is what's broken and here's how we fix it. I always get a detailed (and understandable) report, usually with arial photos taken by drone. Last time I wrote, Mike had redone the new part of our roof, to fix all the issues caused by the prior roofer. Today (Palm Sunday) we had a leak in the part of the roof Mike hadn't originally installed. I gingerly texted Mike to ask his advice. What I got back was well more than anything I could have expected. Mike called to tell me his supervisor, Travis, was already en route to our house. I then got a call from Travis saying he was twenty minutes out. 18 minutes later, he was at the door. He reviewed the leak inside, got his ladder and climbed up the roof and within ten minutes, was back down and showing me pictures of where he'd determined a dryer vent had let water in. Mike called me back to tell me he had a team he could send. Now. I told him it's Palm Sunday, I don't want to take your guys away from their families. Mike said, they are busy all week, this is my best chance to get this fixed. It won't take more than four hours. I agreed and within an hour, there they were at the door, ready to go. They cleared the tile, laid proper under layers - three layers in total. Then buttoned it all up again and were done within two and a half hours. I got a full set of pictures from Mike explaining every step of what was done. All this would be great on a weekday. But a Sunday? Palm Sunday? I am just in awe. From a customer perspective, it's like having a choice of hiring superheros like Mike and his team, or saying no thank you - I prefer the usual sheisters and snake oil salesmen that typically make up the roofing business. After Mike McGilvary Roofing (4.5 stars on Yelp w/ 37 reviews) half-assed their repairs and overcharged me, I had to call Aastro Roofing (4.9 stars on Google w/ 252 reviews) who replaced the rotten fascia board that failed three weeks after Mike's patch. Mike charged me $2450 for some butter silicone around the edges of a flat roof and a new later of silicone -- a job that should've been $1500. Mike clearly has anger issues when he's criticized, screaming in my face that my concerns were "kindergarten questions" instead of managing his biz like a man. He did such a horrible job, I had to threaten civil court and Better Business Bureau. NEVER pay him in full before you're completely satisfied; ALWAYS get 2 - 3 reputable quotes. read more

We had a leak in our roof where some rain had rotted the wood over time. We only discovered it when we found a puddle in our kitchen. I spoke with Mike and sent him some photos of the visible part of the problem area and he gave me a quote based on those images. Mike sent a crew as soon as they were available. They removed the damaged shingles and rotted wood, installed new flashings and underlayment paper, sealed the deck and installed new shingles to the area. The work is under warranty for 2 years. The price was fair, especially given the urgency. I really appreciated quick response and expertise that got this repair done before even more rain could get into the house. read more

His communication was excellent throughout the entire process. He diagnosed the problem and offered an estimate promptly including price and time after discussing my options. Another company took a week to offer an estimate (given to me three days after Mike completed the work!). Paid mike 1500 as a deposit to fix my roof repairs. He said he was coming to get started later that week. The following week we had not seen nor heard from him and he did not responds to texts, calls or emails. Eventually later that week, after mentioning that we would contact our lawyer, mike responded with a bad attitude and lack of any professionalism. Mike repaired my roof and did a good job trying to correct my roof on the front corner. Two years later, I had a small leak from an overzealous pressure washing crew and called Mike again to repair the small leak. He gave me an estimate $600 and stated it would not be higher than that. I was going out of town for business paid him in full since I thought I could trust him due to my experience before with him was good. I had to call and text him multiple times to get the job (he had truck issues, etc.) then he came and repaired the leak at night, which I didn't feel comfortable about. I've not had issues with the leak but the repair cost $300.00 and he never offered my money back. When I contacted him (multiple times) he said he would give it to me as a credit in pressure washing! Never pay this guy up front! I never got my money back. I'll never call him again. read more

I must say that I am impressed by Mike and the services that he provides. I sent a roof repair request via Yelp around 8:00 Thursday evening. I actually had a photo of the repair work that needed to be done. He replied almost immediately, to my surprise. He asked me to send him the photo I had. He was able to give me a quote which was lower than the one I received from my original roofing company. He was the quintessential professional. He stayed in frequent contact with me via messaging and phone calls. I never had to worry about a status. He arrived when he said he would and I didn't have to be home. He completed the work in a timely fashion and texted me photos of the completed job and also called to let me know that he checked other areas of the roof and everything is solid.
