I've never been to a Mike's Drive-In before. This is apparently their newest location and the only one with a drive-through. I got a deluxe cheeseburger with walla walla onions added (didn't realize this was a $1.50 upcharge and there's no screen to display your order as you make it). I also got a peanut butter cup shake. They were edible but neither wow'd me or made me want to re-order. They said it was happy hour and I could get free fries or tater tots. Nice perk. I can't find any info about when happy hour actually is. At the payment window they hold out a terminal to ask for a tip, before you get the food. My order took a bit longer to come out than I'd expect - it didn't look like they were busy inside but I don't know. read more

I've been curious about this place since it opened and I love me a good fast food burger that's not McDonald's (Bless Your Heart is my current favourite but they're too far away). Today I treated myself after an exhausting experience holding a garage sale in my neighborhood and dropping off what didn't sell it Goodwill across the street. I ordered a gluten-free bun and that somehow took them about eight minutes to bring my burger to the window and I was getting impatient in the heat. I ordered my burger without lettuce (you can understand why given the times). It was tasteless, literally. I had to add more ketchup just to get the thing down. Never again. Cute graphics. But you need to improve the taste of your basic burger. I had to go down for a nap after I ate that. read more

I've never had a burger so juicy and smothered with mayo and grilled onions and yet be so bland. This was my first time ever trying this place and I genuinely think someone forgot to season the patties. It was just like eating unsalted/unpeppered plain cooked meat with grilled onions. Super disappointing. The fries were good though; sort of a hybrid of McDonald's and Burger King. Shaped like McDonald's fries, but less salted and more potato taste like BK fries. And the extra chocolate chip cookie that came with my order is a nice touch. I want to support this place, but in today's economy I'm not sure when I'm going to take the next gamble on getting another burger I don't like if the seasoning issue isn't fixed. read more

I decided to give this place another try from the last year I came to visit and...man, this is rough. Honestly, it was probably so lackluster the previous time I visited that I can't even recall but this time? Possibly driven the last nail into the coffin...for this location, at least. Unsurprisingly, this is least liked location of all the Mike's Drive-In according to Yelp. Had good experiences at the flagship location in Milwaukee, though, but that was some years back. At any rate, moving on....came here to have a "quick" burger with my wife the other day. From the time we walked in till we got our food was at least 30 mins. Not sure why as it seemed the place had more than enough employees working there to accommodate but I digress. Maybe it caters more to the people driving through than the patrons that are dining in. No idea. The most disappointing part was the main attraction, the burger. Bacon was good but the burger was just....eh. Never really seen a burger just basically crumble upon impact due to lack of moisture. It's pretty bad when places like McDonald's seems to out perform in regards to juicyness of a burger in which they are notorious for but....you kind of expect it when you go there. Nah, just no. And for the price? Absolutely not! Paid over $30 for two bacon cheeseburger combos (over $15 a piece) which is insane. These combos should run around $11-12 at best. Better off walking 2 blocks East to the local diner and most likely get a much better burger for the same price. Fries were good. The pre-packaged cookie that comes with the combo....just as dry as the burger. The service was friendly, just super slow. I found the place inside to be kind of tight and rather ill-engineered. Space between tables and booths a little too close for comfort in my opinion. It is, what it is. There is outside seating provided, although, weather permitting. Location in neighborhood appears to be a little suspect. For now, a "no" for me. 2 out of 5. Do better! read more

Tried Mike's Drive-In recently and it was pretty good! Ordered online for pick-up and it was right on time and our order was all present and correct. The seashore fries are very good- I prefer seasoned fries so I paid the little extra for those versus the regular fries. The little cheeseburger is a normal-sized cheeseburger (Imagine Five Guys little vs. regular) and it was yummy. Also got a marshmallow and peanut butter cup milkshake (same style as Five Guys too, just vanilla ice cream with toppings mixed in and whipped cream on top). Would definitely go again. read more

I can't believe it took me so long to try this place but it's super good. Very reasonable prices for the quality and quantity of food, the burger was a good classic style with a perfectly cooked patty and the fries were very tasty- also a decent portion. Swung by for lunch with my son. Love the self serve kiosk for easy ordering. I was very pleasantly surprised to find gluten free buns on the menu!! The food was great, fast and perfect!! Clean and new burger place. Staff is friendly and easy to talk to. Parking lot for guest is great to see. This is a section of Lombard being update with new restaurants and commercial properties. Mike' s is new and a Starbucks was going to up next door. Good revitalization for the area. Enjoyed the 1/4 lb cheeseburger deluxe with fries and a drink. Dipping sauces are an extra $.50. Meals are made fresh once the order is made. The staff will bring your meal to you indoors and outdoors. Burger was good and can see why they have been around for decades. Caution on using their drive-thru as it takes a LONG time, even if there are just 3-4 cars in front of you. That's probably my biggest complaint with Mike's is they just aren't fast. I appreciate them making their food to order but the quality is kind of hit and miss too. Their bacon cheeseburger is solid but I do feel like it's overpriced for what it is. I actually thought the hot dog was pretty good - I'd recommend. The fries and tots always need extra salt - not sure why but they always seem underseasoned to me. I always like supporting local but the problem is Portland is VERY competitive and has many good local burger spots. If this place was quicker, maybe that could be their niche - like a true local fast food place? It's a cool looking place that has a modern clean take on a classic diner, I just wish they were faster and their food was more flavorful and more consistent. read more

I was not able to eat after waiting in line for 20 min they never got my order and made me wait even longer. They tried to bribe me with ice cream gor the wait told me 3 minutes. 6 min went by and they still never even started my order. And while all this is going on they are doing the orders for the other drive thrus im not tryna be a unruly customer. But im hungry i kids to pick up and waste 30 min of wait time and gas to go and give mikes a try for the very first time. I kept asking how long how long and they eventually told me it be better if i got my refund instead of my food. I am highly disappointed at the lombard location and do not recommend you stop by especially if ur hungry and have other plans for the night. Id try killer burger or habit burger. My friend and I were just at Mikes drive in and ordered 2 hot fudge Sundays with NO peanuts. Once we got to the window they handed us our Sundays, but they had peanuts on them. We kindly reminded them that we wanted no peanuts (my friend is allergic) and they took them back and said they fixed the problem and apologized. Once we got home I told her I would try the Sunday because we joked about them just adding more ice cream on top instead of giving us a new ice cream. To my surprise, that is exactly what happened. This is EXTREMELY unprofessional behavior and not safe practice for allergies. Thank the LORD she did not eat any or it would've been a trip to the ER. Shame on Mikes Drive in. read more

it was wonderful! I had almost all of the burgers here and every single one of them is delicious. The service was wonderful, I get my food in like 5-10 minutes. The ice cream is really big for the price that they offer. From Monday to Thursday, they have $0.99 ice cream. And they have great seasonal stuff, like tropical shakes, pumpkin ice cream, lemon ice cream, strawberry shakes... Also they give out free stickers every month. The food is good (fried pickles and hard shake are really good). Service is a complete cluster though so be prepared to wait a loooong time including if in drive through. First time going we received burger and fries probably about 15 min after ordering then the shake came out another 15ish later. This was shortly after they opened so expected some issues. Last time I went got the shake about 10 min after ordering then checked after 30min of waiting to ask about the burger status and they mentioned it is just waiting on the pickles. Checked in again after another 10min as still waiting and asking if the burger had been sitting out for over a half hour waiting on the pickles. They offered and did then make a new burger for when the pickles and old burger came out another 5 or so min later. They have started closing the lobby early at 8 in which many people are not aware of as it was relatively constant with people coming in to be turned away until they locked the doors with people still trying to get in. Drive through line wait was estimated at 20-25min by staff when turning people away from the lobby however me and others on the lobby side had already been waiting over 30 min. Would be nice if they put spoons out or give you one with the hard shakes instead of needing to ask them. read more

Mikes drive -in, looks promising. But proof you can polish a turd. Good things. Pumpkin vanilla swirl cone, ok done with the good things. Not sure I can give credit to Mike's on that one. The burger... first off whoever's idea it was to put the burger in a foil lined package needs to be punished. Just got the basic cheeseburger deluxe basket. About 2 minutes after receiving it . I took it out of the package and the bun is soggy. Was nasty. Nobody likes a soggy burger bun. Don't know if they form the patties them selves, don't care it was so horrible. Not sure it was beef even. Possibly runny dressing on the burger not sure maybe it was just sweat from the packaging. Absolutely horrible. The fries.. not sure if I Got the ones that had been sitting around, but I can't say one good thing about the fries either. Not crisp almost a stale texture. I guess salting them was a plus. But you don't get points for that. The stupid cookie. This thing was so mid. Just fell apart before I could get it out the wrapper also tasted stale. For $13...Out of 10 I would give my experience with the food a 2.3. Maybe a 1.8 if I consider buyers remorse and the waste of calories. The service was ok though. read more

Make sure to factor in the price of a gallon of gas, because you're going to burn thru a lot while waiting for your food. For a place called "Drive-In" you'd think they'd have that part figured out, but 20 minutes is definitely the longest drive thru experience I've ever had. And for a Wednesday at 7:45, with only 5 cars ahead of me, that's ridiculous. Good (not great) burger, and the fruit in the shake wasn't blended enough to actually fit thru the straw, so I'm not sure how to even drink it. read more

I was so excited when Mike's came to North Portland. It has gone down hill fast. The drive thru is a joke. Instead of having the customer over to the Grill waiting area and helping the next person in line. You wait for ever. The prices keep going up and the amount of food gets smaller every time I go there. A ice cream cone were always 99 cent and it was huge. Now the price is $ 1.95 and you can get a bigger cone at McDonalds. I am very disappointed with Mike's and will never return. read more

Another excellent visit at Mike's Lombard location. I am so used of having hit-and-miss encounters at other restaurants, that I expect disappointment at Mike's. No, not at Mike's! Maddox, Kay, Daisy, Kendra and Troy were on a mission to make sure that did not happen. They went above and beyond to deliver a superb experience. My mushroom burger was made to order, hot, fresh, flavorful and absolutely delicious. My fries were perfectly seasoned and piping hot, just the way I love them. Mikes opened a few weeks ago. We were very disappointed in both the food and the service. If I take the time to come inside your establishment I should be served before those in the drive through. You ask how do I know, I stepped outside and watched the cars that placed orders after I did. They were long gone before my order showed up. The hamburgers were not as good as most fast food restaurants. The burgers were precooked and dry, and the buns were untoasted and gooey. And what's with the extra charge for fry sauce. If your going to charge extra then say it's going to cost an extra .45. It will be a cold day in hell when I drive past "Jim Dandy's" on Sandy to go to "Mikes". Way better service, and way better milkshakes, all for less money. Wouldn't recommend Mikes, and won't be driving the extra 4 miles! read more

I have loved, loved, loved Mike's Drive-in for years. I've gone to the Oregon City and Milwaukie locations for years and was thrilled when Tigard opened up because it's near my office. When it opened, I went about three times a week, for months. I am a true Oregonian in that I am adamant about supporting local businesses rather than large corporations. Unfortunately, I will not be going back. The last few times I've been there, the food has been as bad as McDonald's in that the hamburgers were lukewarm, dry, and overcooked. The French fries were barely warm. Flavor is now non-existent. I was also chagrined to find out that they no longer serve the huge milkshakes. I went back a few days ago, hoping upon hope that maybe the food would be better, and it was wretched. The only reason I ate it was because my blood sugar was really low, and I had to get something into my stomach. I'm not sure what happened--are they getting too big for their britches? Who knows? Sometimes success results in lower quality. I'm finding that to be the case here. Eating out has become so expensive that finding a good quality place is becoming more and more difficult and I'm finding that I'm crossing more and more of my favorite restaurants off my list. I've had bad fast food before, but I must reconsider my definition of the word terrible to rate this dump. I ordered the Bacon Cheeseburger with Swiss at the Tigard store. I ordered my burger in a basket and I ordered it with light mayo only. I like to taste the meat not a bunch of veggies. For starters, the meat was what I can only think of as extra, extra well-done. I understand that hamburger needs to be cooked through, but does the outside need to be burned? Suffice that the meat was overly well-done, dry, and tasteless. Then there's that thing about light mayo only. The cooks here apparently don't understand that means no pickles, tomato, lettuce, or special sauce. The mayo was also not what you'd typically think of as light. The burger sucked. The mayo was applied so heavily that it soaked the bun. Definitely not recommended. Then there are the fries. A complete delight, if you like manufactured fries that are cooked in heavy grease. Fries also get a well-deserved not recommended. I upgraded my basket to include a shake, which was actually pretty good, but a little on the thin side. Shakes, I think, carry an individual price of $5.95. For that price, I expect a shake that you can't suck through a straw. The shake gets five stars for flavor, but only two for consistency. The dessert, in the basket, is a chocolate chip cookie. It's one of those inedible pieces of dough that plops out of a machine. And speaking of prices, this mess was $20.50, and it isn't fast either. I was there in mid-afternoon and my order took 15 to 20 minutes. Oh, and the place didn't give you the feeling it was clean. I'm all for supporting local businesses, but I won't be making the mistake of stopping at Mike's Drive-In in the future. All around, not a pleasant experience. read more

Never going to Lombard St location again. They made my burger wrong (it had no special requests) so I went in to ask for a new one and the cook called me a liar, loud enough for me to hear. When I said "did he just call me a liar?" the guy taking orders said "they were just joking." I grew up going to the Milwaukie and Sellwood (no longer open) locations and was super excited when this location opened up. Never going back. Too expensive to be getting it wrong and then calling a customer a liar because you forgot bacon on a bacon cheeseburger. read more
