I came in today to try their Burger Week special. The cashier was wearing gloves, touched the order screen, and took my cash. They grabbed a drink cup and used that cup to scoop ice into, their fingers now touching the ice. The cashier's thumb pressed the inside of my drink lid as they separated one from the stack. All while wearing the same gloves that touched cash and the order screen. I refused the beverage and asked to speak to the Lead. The Lead "V" had a stone face while I told them what happened. "I'll talk to my staff." Was the only response. "V" went back to food prep without talking to the cashier. I sat down but was really grossed out. I watched that same cashier with gloved hands make an overflowing chocolate milkshake, touching the inside of the cup, the rim of the cup, and the food itself. "V" removed their food prep gloves before handing me my cash back after I requested my order canceled. I asked "V" if the cashier had changed their gloves yet after handling cash. "I believe so" was the response. Not definitive. Not "I immediately corrected them to prevent further contamination." Not "I saw them change their gloves, so I know they did so." I was calm and polite the whole time but just really disappointed that the staff do not understand how gloves work and that the staff in charge don't care. Gloves are to keep everything sanitary, not to protect your hands from getting dirty. That's what soap and water are for, and staff are supposed to wash their hands before putting new gloves on EVERY TIME. read more

I am really disappointed after reading some of the reviews (I definitely didn't get the same results) Crinkly Fries~hot, fresh, and cooked (slightly hard/soft in the middle). Service~Cashier she was very nice and, took my order correctly. Ambiance~It's a lot of workers preparing the food so it's no reason it shouldn't be fresh. Grabbed a quick bite on the way to a meeting and came away impressed with the food, but less so with the experience getting in and out. Food: Single Deluxe Combo ($12) - 4.5/5: Wow. The burger honestly looked exactly like the ad, which is rare. The patty tasted charbroiled and immediately reminded me of Harvey's from Canada, which brought back a lot of good memories. The toppings were well balanced, savory, and just salty enough. A really solid burger. Fries - 4.5/5: Crinkle cut and fresh. They were cooked just a touch longer than I prefer, but only slightly. Still very good. Drink: Good and not watered down. Straws are by request, which I appreciated. Service: 3/5. I'm not sure if this is meant to be fast food or fast casual, but the wait felt longer than expected. About 2 to 3 minutes waiting for the car ahead of me, then another 4 to 5 minutes for my order. I may just be used to places like McDonald's being much faster. Ambiance: 1/5. The drive thru setup was rough. I could barely get into the lane and had to circle the parking lot. The lot itself was packed, right next to a stoplight, and exiting was stressful with multiple cars trying to get out at the same time. But why would you pay the same or possibly more money for an inferior burger when you can get excellent food at Super Deluxe?? Their cheeseburger combo meal is $12. My god, what has happened to this place? The understaffing, the mediocre food? This used to be the place my sons wanted most. Even with their syrup-rich can't-even-use-the-word-milk shakes. Super Deluxe pumps out deliciously cooked smashburgers and exceptional chicken nuggets (close to Chik-Fil-A than McNuggets). The fries and the drinks aren't my favorite. It's not a messy burger, and it's also tastes surprisingly clean (i.e. not so heavy on the stomach). My mom ordered her favorite burger from here through grubhub a week ago and received this message on the inside of her to-go box, after we assume she didn't tip as much as they hoped she would. For context my mom is having to file for bankruptcy and move out of her house, so unfortunately she doesn't have a lot of money to offer for a tip. She usually never gets food out or orders in, but when she saw she had a deal from grubhub she thought she would treat herself and order one of her comfort foods during this difficult time. Only to find this absolutely unacceptable message left for her. Luckily she has gotten her money back from grubhub at this point, but I just wanted so share this to warn everyone about how willing this establishment is to jump to disrespect. I'm sure the employees of this establishment a likely not treated well by their ownership, and as someone who has worked in fast food and has been a server for many years I have nothing but respect and empathy for this line of work. But as someone in this industry who had been stiffed hundreds of times, especially people who have the means to tip, or blatantly disrespected by customers, I have never once retaliated like this no matter the circumstances. It's affordable for the quality and though I wouldn't consider it to be healthy, it's a lot more healthy than say Burger King or Taco Bell across the street. The staff is generally friendly and happy to be there. Super Deluxe is near my home. I've ordered at the drive-thru many times. In response to a few comments below, I've never gotten an order that was wrong, the quality of meat including bacon is far better than BK or McD, as is the house sauce (a bit spicy). The wait for food pickup is a bit slow but that's because your order is prepared after ordering unlike most fast food places; but, it's worth the wait. Note: Their burgers come with both raw and caramelized onions. So, you can ask them to leave off raw onions if they upset your stomach. The chicken nuggets are a family favorite. Highly recommend the Double Deluxe with bacon. They do ask for a tip when using a credit card, most times 10% works for me. No tip is not met with a scowl. The employees are very polite. On a lazy Sunday afternoon, we decided that cooking wasn't to be and went searching for local alternatives. Burgers sounded good, Super Deluxe was close by, so they got the nod. Got in line at the drive-through (only currently available option in these plague-infested days), was pleased at the speed that we made it through the line. Ordered two singles, fries and two SuperTastys. Honestly, our impression was just "meh". The burgers were warm on top, cold on the bottom. Nothing really stood out other than their ability to fill a need. The SuperTastys were even more "meh" - not sure what they're trying to achieve with those but $4.50 for a flavored frozen icey drink is just unacceptable. The fries were the star of the show. For a burger joint this isn't half bad, and I hesitated on going here because who hasn't been to a burger place before? They all seem the same except a few have some exceptions to taste and value for what you're getting and the amount of the portion. I've been to this location many times. I would say it offers the best burger you can get in the area without getting out of your car. The menu is simple. I've only ever ordered their single cheeseburgers, but they do have chicken sandwiches, chicken nuggets and veggie/vegan options. The burger is good and tasty with caramelized onions and a rich, garlicky "Deluxe sauce". To me, it is both of these components, along with quality beef, that elevate these burgers over their other fast food brethren. I would say I prefer the burgers here to Burgerville's, which is my runner-up for fast food in Portland. Super Deluxe is a tad cheaper than Burgerville, but with a smaller menu. Another downside is the small number of locations. If you are near their Powell location and in a hurry, try this place over Burger King, etc. read more

Decided to finally take my family out for dinner to see what all the hype was about and honestly I was BEYOND dissatisfied as were my kids and parents. Buns were cold and our lettuce, tomato, onion were all soft and wilted feeling almost as if they took it straight outta the fridge after putting everything onto the buns a day prior, grabbed our burgers from a warming tray and slapped them onto it serving it out. So we left hungry and ended up stopping at a new 24 hour burger joint called Sammy's Burgers & Shakes, right across the street from Super Deluxe on Foster Rd across from Burger King, where we had exceptionally great food AND service (Sammy's onion rings are TO DIE FOR and quite possibly the best I've had and I'll gladly break my diet weekly for them! Ordered a few burgers to dine in for our first time here. Pretty busy during lunch rush. Took our order and got the last open booth. Burgers came overloaded with caramelized onions. In favor of the Potato buns but the fries were saltier than preferred. There was a slight wait but that was expected. 3 star avg for tricky entrance and exit to this place! In many reviews this place is compared to In n Out Burger. I guess those folks just have never eaten at an In n Out Burger. My review is 3 stars, 4 for the fries and 2 for the cheeseburger. That cheeseburger. On my tray it looked so sad and not very appetizing. It's a standard size cheeseburger and the bun was toasted. Yet it was stone cold. It had both secret sauce and mustard, plus pickles, tomatoes, some stupid shredded lettuce, and maybe a half a dozen pieces of chopped raw onion. Using shredded lettuce on a burger is always a mistake. I didn't even know it had onions on it until I was 2/3s finished with it. When I tasted it I took it apart and sure as hell there were a few pieces of chopped onion on it. It just looked so marginal sitting there taken apart. I didn't eat anymore of it. I did eat all the fries though. There is more than potato going on there. They are coated or treated with something. They taste pretty good too! Better than In n Out fries. I hope the mystery coating doesn't cause cancer. I just ask for a water to go with the combo and it still was $7.50. That's a dollar more then and In n Out combo and the In n Out comes with a refillable drink. The water came in a plastic cup with a plastic lid. Please stop using all that plastic! A paper cup would be just fine. At least the straw was recyclable paper. This place needs to get real and really quickly because In n Out is coming to Portland next. They are opening in the Salem area this Fall and probably have already purchased land around Portland. read more
