Mike's is the 5th barber shop I've tried in the area, and we are so happy we've finally found our home Barber. My son is tender headed and shy, and hates to go in to get his hair done, but now with Mike, that's all changed. Mike greets us warmly when we come in. He's gentle and kind with my son, and always checks in with me as he goes. He's been consistently on time, and incredibly gracious with me the last time we went in and arrived stressed out and late. His line ups are always excellent, as are his cuts. What's shocking is that on top of all that, the place is clean and nice and the prices are *fantastic*. New to the area and I called asking if they do walk ins and they said come right in. When I went in I sat for over a hr and even though there were 4 barbers working not one of the barbers acknowledged me or told me how long the wait would be. After a hr and a half of waiting without any of the barbers offering to cut me or telling me I would be next I ended up leaving. Never going back. At first the issue was with the barber but now I see the owner is encouraging the foolishness by telling clients how to deal AND NOW PERSONAL INSULTS... Ummmmm Did you say you could've rectified it? How do you rectify a botched hair cut? Give my son a lace front or draw in a fake hair line? A credit voucher to a shop that did a poor job? He had to wear a hat for over a month. But hey thanks for the reply. Now I am thinking what a strange way to hold your staff accountable... by responding to a paying customer and telling them how to express themselves. You should start by asking was there a manager on duty that day. Nothing changes in this review. Hold your barber accountable and never respond to a client and blame them for your barber that you hired messing up. All you did was encourage them to continue making errors. Yes, since you want to tell me how to do things let me tell you the same. AGAIN Take time for a training session and some team building and not trying to jump and reply. Or here is a thought....hire a manager for when you can't be there. And unless you are paying for MY kids hair cut do not ever tell me or any paying parent how to review our experience at this shop or any other. Like the convenient location near Civic Center Richmond, lots of parking and close to other retailers. I've been a customer here for quite a while, the barbers are always cool and professional in a nice and clean shop. Meach did a wonderful job with my 3 year old son. He was very patient with him and when my son would get distracted he would stop and laugh with him. I took my son here the other day and was thoroughly impressed. Not only was I greeted by at least one barber as we walked in the door (which doesn't happen at all barber shops I've taken my son to) but the owner Mike was very friendly and professional and was able to cut my son's hair right then and there. I won't hold my breath that we'll be this lucky each time we drop in. It wasn't a cheap cut but my son had a lot of hair/dreads so I was happy to pay more. The shop was clean, the vibe was right and I felt good leaving for 30 minutes while he got his cut. After we left, my son said, "that's my new barbershop". Customer service is very important to me and this place made me and son welcome. I highly recommend coming Mike's! We will definitely be back. read more
