We thought this place was good since there were a lot of cars getting their tire chains here. Initially, we bought the chains and they want to charge extra $70 for installation. There was an independent contractor doing it for $30 so we opted to have him install the chains for us instead. And don't get me started on how long we waited before someone approached us about the chain installation. If it hadn't been for that independent contractor, we would've waited longer. Next, the chain size they sold us was wrong. When we asked for it to be exchanged, they asked for additional $30 and took the wrong sized tires.

We usually fill up here not because it is cheap but because it is conveniently located next to the Safeway, where we shop when we are in the area, and right across from the road which leads to Nevada beach, which we visit at least once when in town. They have a "market" but we have not visited it, and I can't comment on the rest rooms because I haven't used those either. But if you want inexpensive gas without having to go out of your way for it, this is the place.

My car broke down late Wednesday night, and after getting nowhere with AAA, I tried again Thursday morning and eventually drove (nervously) to AutoZone for a diagnostic. They pointed me toward Kingsbury Auto for a new alternator. Called--no answer. Took a leap of faith and just drove there. Total "damsel in distress" moment the Thursday before Memorial Day, with a deadline to drive back to the Bay the next afternoon. And wow--I'm so glad I did. Elise was incredibly kind, helpful, and accommodating. You can tell it's a family-owned and operated shop, and they treat you like a human, not just a ticket number. Not only did they fit me in last-minute, but Elise also tracked down an alternator and had me back on the road in about 2 hours. On a busy holiday weekend, no less. I seriously can't thank them enough. Total lifesavers. If I ever break down in Tahoe again (fingers crossed I don't), I know exactly where I'm going.
